TheMan18's Replies

Yay, just basically wondering IF its ANY good... I am more curious what us common folks in the General board think of it, hence... I go for anti-hero. Pretty much yeah but then again most of those robbers were portrayed as villains and Waingro for example was downright evil for the many other things HE did especially. While we're on this subject, have you actually for instance KNOWN someone who didn't do too much homework and was mostly BEHIND on their work for class subject etc but in the end, they still PASSED or even got top marks on some test, be it a Science or Maths end of year exam, some university project or even some college or university subject, and did that surprise you? Or have YOU been like that all, thanks. And does killing someone who is a rapist and a murderer REALLY make you "no better than them", like that? Aren't those individuals very bad and dangerous? Do they really deserve to live (even if hopefully punished by law)? Where is the line between heroism, justifiable homicide and just sinking down to their level even if you put them down? Who decides and who is right here? And HOW COME if it really IS so bad and possible and people KNOW IT TOO, then law, which is supposed to be above them, still organized death penalty in the first place or is it just another example of humanity, and legal system created by human beings, being far from ideal? And what if you kill them in self defense for example? As much as I sort of understand where folks are coming from, the overall issue feels very frustrating to me and also, God forgive, but if I or my family were in any way victims of such matter, I may not know how to react and I will be too distressed to be "rational". And that would make me no better than they are or, for example, I would be ON THEIR LEVEL??!!??!!??!!???? In wars for instance lots of bad things happen, but in WW2 for example, the Russians were defending themselves against Nazi invaders and killed many of them in defense and they were branded as heroes. And no professional sources or even civilized people would dare claim that they in the process (other matters aside notwithstanding, then again, loads of things happened in such times) fell down to their level. And should we be against defense killings like that too? Or is it DIFFERENT, even if it still involves taking another life, or is there something fundamentally different about death penalty that sets it all aside? My God, law's not perfect but still... "You could argue it a justified murder, but it was murder nonetheless." CONTEXT counts and there IS a difference. It is in a way, yes. Also, in your opinion, law or not - those offenses of hers doesn't make her a "bad person", correct, as flawed as she may have been? Also, in such establishments, like in other lesser ones, even for lesser offenses, do people get coddled and cuddled and told "don't worry, you have nothing to worry about, it was a mistake but we won't hold a grudge" sort of thing, and if they do or do not, do you think they are RIGHT (as in CORRECT) or... (Or maybe they asked her "Are you sorry?") Its all relative and also, this or anything else, is it entirely normal that the justice system even by people who are good and normal isn't universally looked upon in a perfectly favourable light, but then again, as with life in general, there are no real "good guys" and "bad guys" (or chicks - or even mostly people) right, and no heroes and no villains, correct? And what on Earth stopped Lindsey Lohan from just being a peaceful, law abiding etc citizen and famous actress, to enjoy wealth and life and whatnot without ANY trouble with the law, DIY, drugs let alone "other worse offenses" (HOPE NOT, but don't worry, I won't go crazy here - my internet buddies and family occasionally "know" what I am up to these days with such mental topics) etc, or does fame and wealth really spoil people ESPECIALLY say Western ones? "Failure's not an option" - as they say (also a quote from the movie "True Lies" (1994) that is now oh My God 30 years old.) I can also tell (no offense but), you probably haven't given it too much thought, emotional importance etc in your life, but I sort of did, however, I myself don't have ALL the answers here but I am sometimes feeling as if I am objectively forced into broaching such questions. Otherwise, you might have said "Well, that's a deep question, and I understand this and that, but actually oh yeah, it can be like this, but then, its because of men being this and mostly that, but also, yeah, its not that simple but its understandable as well"... Again, not telling you what to do (its entirely your choice) but just to give a rough idea of what I was approximately looking for. Oh come on, please, don't tell me I failed again, even so, THIS MOVIE at least to a degree tried to raise that question. And even if I was being a little hyperbolic style-wise, what exactly is wrong with that and if I was a bit emotional in others, well... And English isn't my first language by the way so if I come across also like this, its because I am not a native Anglo-saxan human being. Which I guess isn't very accurate at all, right? But description wise, it is along those lines in a way. Sort of at least. Even with those other factors in it and with it seemingly being in a category of its own. Some also brought Hong Kong Category 3 comparisons or Jorg Buttgereit with "Nekromantik" or French extreme cinema like "Martyrs" (2008). To all the people I know (and who know me) - watch BOTH films one day please and see what you think. Also, answer this one day, after seeing both movies, do you still REALLY hate and despise the perpetrators of such deed (sorry if I am having trouble typing the word out loud but "you know what" I am talking about indeed) OR - do you believe that, as guilty and wrong as they are and in need of punishment and rehabilitation, we as a society and individuals and in our own personal interests as well should study and analyse them more than find "creative ways" in showing how we despise them? To be also honest, neither movie offers a PERFECT answer to these rather complex and complicated sets of questions - but they would get you thinking about it. And also, try and appreciate both movies for their cinematic qualities like acting, direction, camera work, themes etc etc etc. (This coming from a person who considers "A Clockwork Orange" (1971) possibly his all time favourite movie, speaking of that one, watch it as a triple bill and compare it in spite of that movie being a 70s surreal science fiction black comedy and those two being modern foreign dramas.) On a related note, and I hope you folks and fellas are alright with me on it but, I will be, minus MAYBE some exceptions, rather or somewhat SHY if for instance I had been involved in any situation where I had to confront some attractive lady who turned to dark sides and did something say criminal or bad or wrong of any variety even if I'm not saying I would simply, you know, but also, here I feel especially awkward thinking this or that, so I GUESS I would settle for a routine say treatment instead and ask no further questions like I MAY have done in other cases. Lol. Including stuff I saw in the movies that also surprised me but also MADE ME QUESTION life and reality and whatnot in general whilst asking and hopefully not to demand, others to understand or just nod or whatever. But I WAS planning at times to duke it out or get past it, and no offense to anyone, but please not too much authority on me here, thank you. (Feels shocked, lies in bed, contacts mom at work - the usual routine for life for TheMan18.) "Fires"? (Cough cough, SOME of my relatives in my child and teenage hood spoke very ill of the culprits and perpetrators, but I will leave it up to you to decide how "right" they were but POINT ALSO IS - it affected me in later life on a purely subconscious level, hence, you saw me HERE discuss those topics, OF COURSE in that sense it wasn't any type of "fetish" if you understand what I mean.) (But I also talked SECRETLY and AMBIGUOUSLY about some stuff in order to avoid MENTAL JINXING and COGNITIVE DISSONANCE of ANY variety too, but that's mostly me.) He went to PRISON for it, was it that serious, and their guilt obvious, how was it proven, did the victim report them to the police and want them to be imprisoned for it? (In some assault however medium to small matters, it may be a fine and whatnot or just a telling off, but what was different here Paladin, also, did the person later get released (they didn't get 10 years or more for it, did they?), maybe apologized and promised never to do it again, did they also survive the prison conditions there? (As INEVITABLE as it is though SYSTEMATICALLY.) There are some matters I am more forgiving of than others - but also, even if I don't think in some cases they are right and depends also on consequences and other factors etc, I may be strongly disagreeing with them but I may not hold too strong a grudge or wish for any vengeful retribution, BUT... Seeing some of those things in films have occasionally intrigued and surprise shocked me in their own way, common morality and basic law, no offense to others, and victims' feelings, and certainly no further offense to latter, notwithstanding. I also felt occasionally something along the lines of "If it isn't just men who are this but also err "not men" and with looks etc who can be guilty of such matters however rarely or even OTHER bad matters", can I as a man or just a human be forgiven for LESSER things and just be given MORE basic freedom in THIS life? Or is there actually a lot of de-facto ILLUSION at play here and that, well, in life, no one is ever totally free of any inconvenience EVER and I should stop philosophizing et all like that.
