Err... The Matrix? There's also I believe a 1990 Hungarian movie called "Twilight" that deals with similar subject. I thought it might've been him, I have heard of Aristotle yes but I am not 100% familiar with all his quotes though. ALSO, in some cases, how does that quote also apply to negative things that happen (read late Roger Ebert's review of "Dead Man Walking" (1995) about Sean Penn's character being driven to commit those crimes.) But that award was a good thing, correct Shogun? In cinematic terms, was it like an Oscar or a Razzie? Also, a note to some of you folks - in this life, I was often highly emotional, troubled, with tantrums etc and a little full of myself - WAY BEFORE the internet was even POPULAR (and I only started to have access to it in post 9/11 2001) and way before any of those "subjects" discussed online from any angle were visible. So its NOT a matter of "Stop worrying about [insert something]" like that alone, and I also, as much as I have nothing against statistics and today of course I DO have knowledge of "cycles and amounts" and whatnot, I was often raised with atmosphere and mentality how in some cases "one is bad enough" if you know what I mean and that also goes at least to a degree with "exceptional cases too" and I also in me wanted to in a civilized but also nice and stylish way "crush" away any even potential "vigilante mentality" whilst still being rightly against something here and there. But also not worry TOO MUCH about anything resembling punishments and so called or even official "consequences" - as inevitable as it all IS really and with me having a desire to get a GRIP on it all. Behave please - and I WILL do TOO. Hehe. :) True but I was wondering, even in people, where did it come from? We ALSO hear a lot about how, in our life, today also, but dating hundreds of years ago, under the law that permitted executions etc, many either innocent people or those guilty of crimes not so huge like murder of innocents etc, were killed and that the system was often unfair even if it tried to be fair. Some so-called crimes I personally don't consider worthy of something like an execution at all. But also... We are, paradoxically, often told that even guilty bad folks may NOT fully deserve it either. And many who do speak out against capital punishment have also brought up arguments of those things happening in the past. I also wonder - why was no one say ashamed enough to rise against it and change it immediately? Or is it, again, human nature being very flawed in general among other complex reasons perhaps? And point sometimes is, just cause we're innocent doesn't mean we have nothing to worry about and just cause we're guilty we don't stop having basic rights either. Oh well. Do you believe in EVERYTHING the Bible says? For your information, Bible is not perfect and was known on occasions to not only make mistakes but also be prejudiced at times itself. And OK perhaps its generally wrong, vigilante justice, but what if there is no alternative? Also, I read in one review that positive attitudes to wanting to be a vigilante is actually one of the main factors in life that keeps stuff like wars happening, where of course many innocents perish as a result. But I have to ask, how TRUE is it REALLY? For all I know and can conjure up an imagination, wars often happen for reasons related to political conflicts or stuff like religion and whatnot or conflicts that often escalate between forces who can't agree on certain stuff, and its not really (or is it?) relevant to say street vigilantes who attack and execute people they know or perceive as criminals of various kids who get away with it. Or is there something missing here that I can't fully comprehend? Interestingly enough, on a thread for Michael Haneke's Austrian film "Funny Games" (1997), someone at least mentioned a similar scenario, and also didn't get too surprised or worked up that LIFE in general doesn't work as an action movie where good guys win and evil gets it. And in that film, although it was also about violence in the media and audience's complicity in it, it had two psycho young men torturing and attempting to murder family members. And yet through it, someone saw scenarios that actually relate to wars happening. But then, if only the bad and guilty folks were to be taken out, would that in any way on its OWN be so bad? Then again, you can't blame the world for not indulging you, correct? P.S. The theme of not men in movies doing something OR another as a trope has ACTUALLY made me in more ways than one albeit metaphorically and stylishly confront my OWN self psyche (and I myself had problems and moments of hysteria but also fantasies and wishes etc etc etc WAY BEFORE most of those movies have even been released, i.e. some late 90s ones, 2010s etc etc etc) but I also felt on a distant but somewhat soulful cleansing level as if I MYSELF actually both am AND have the right to openly consider myself a GOOD and FREE person, not to mention, a FILM ADMIRER to boot. And I DIDN'T TAKE ANY DRUGS or anything, but paradox was, even with some bad there, I felt I can have good here. And I even started to get over stuff like what happened at school or what OTHER movies I saw as kid with OTHER material that sometimes also freaked me out etc etc etc. But don't worry, its cool and all. And morality wise I had NO real questions here, actually, I did accept it all, celebration also was - I discovered more obscure movies here and there. And I treated it all as FILM TROPES first. With LIFE, its ANOTHER story altogether, but I also encouraged others not to be TOO strict with me given those details and all. :) What's this the best story ever told? Hmm, dunno, maybe even the worst lol, but still... :) Troll, stroll and troglodyte away ) Although I notice, you DO give it emotional importance and whatnot, and this isn't the first time either. ) OK, anymore opinions, anymore thoughts and stances to "prove" or even "be allowed to have a personal opinion" that exists on the order of "Humanity overall isn't as "shitty" as certain if not many individuals make it out to be" and that the Devil isn't as scary as people make him (or it?) out to be? Do we HAVE to go into this direction Bloodshot? (I'd rather not, personally.) More so - is this even relevant to THIS topic overall? Cool - hope others are also OK for it, including any controversial statements on the order of "Laws not always being fair" and the potential topic of female gender in say less than always 100% positive light in plain view. Also, does this also concern women who are completely INNOCENT and also decent human beings WITH common sense, intelligence and nary a single prejudiced or wrongful thought or action, does this apply to them AS WELL? I wonder why you give it all THIS much importance 123? Why do you care so much about it all? I almost feel like paraphrasing the popular 70s disco pop hit "Disco Inferno" by The Trammps that goes "Burn baby burn, disco inferno" when I think of this movie instead, and go "Burn station burn, movie inferno, teh teh teh"... Lol :) And what does 123Guy want? Interesting, although I am not sure if I am familiar with such a movement, is it a German philosophical movement from something like Nietzsche's "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" movement or something to do with "Zeit" or even Zoro as in "The Mask of Zorro", not fully unlike that popular 2000 Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones flick? Check out also the late 2010s film entitled "Burn" (2019) and also - tell me it wasn't at least PARTIALLY inspired by "Thursday" (1998) not least of which, the theme and scene of a female assailant (leave the rest to distant imagination) does something to a man of a related nature, whilst also having similar Tarantino-esque atmosphere and vibe to it. So yeah add "Burn" to that list too.
