I thought the movie was decently paced overall. Once in a while it started to feel like things were starting to slow down, but then a few minutes later it picked up. But the last hour is pretty much nonstop action. So that last hour should go by quickly. And even with those iffy spots I was talking about, the movie felt 20-30 minutes shorter than what it actually is. I think that's why I said decently paced instead of something like amazing pace/amazingly paced. Also, you got to factor in that 10-12 minutes are for end credits. If you remove end credits, it's about 3 hours exact.
That's right. Falcone's son fakes his death and is a second Holiday killer in the comic. Harvey Dent's wife though was the original/primary one, but Alberto Falcone confesses to the killings and Dent's wife uses him as a scapegoat.
I compared both endings. They changed Dent's wife's motives. In the comic, her motive was to make Dent's work easier so that he could be home more often than at work since she felt he was working too much. In the movie, she was out for revenge. Also, Dent confesses to the murders/killing in both movie and comic, although I don't remember if he realizes he is covering for his wife. Alberto Falcone remains dead in the movie, so the movie has only one killer, while the comic sort of has two.
Oh, and if I remember correctly, the movie doesn't skip a holiday. They just altered the one The Riddler is a part of for the movie and do something different from the comic. But I can't remember the explanation for why they altered stuff and omitted Riddler.
But yeah. Alberto Falcone was some kind of second killer in the comic (can't believe I forgot that), but they removed that for the movie and altered stuff, including Dent's wife's motive for becoming Holiday. But at least they kept her being the primary Holiday killer.
Wow. I kind of rank the Adam West Batman last since it's just a parody of Batman and everyone that worked on the show even clarified that it was pretty much just a parody. Everything after that (except for maybe Batman Forever and Batman & Robin) is "true" Batman. Sounds like you don't like the darker stuff and want more of the parody. The Adam West Batman is fun though, but I wouldn't say it's my favorite take on Batman. I'm more about Keaton, Bale, Affleck, and Pattinson. Plus some animated stuff like the 90's show and a few movies. I definitely liked The Long Halloween movie when it comes to animated movies.
Well, the movie kept who the Holiday killer was in the comic, which I'm glad they did. I know they changed the identity of Hush in the Batman: Hush movie, and I was iffy on that. But I'm glad they didn't change who Holiday was in The Long Halloween movie. The only thing the movie really changed about the ending was that in the comic, it appears Batman never really figures out who Holiday was or it's left ambiguous, but in the movie, Batman managed to figure it out and knew for awhile, but just wanted to make sure he was correct by slowly eliminating other suspects.
Also, I they changed Catwoman/Selina in the movie. In the movie, she was more of an ally and went on to live with Bruce and Alfred, but in the comic she was still more of a villain/bad guy character or something in between (I'm not using a certain word since I don't like using it). I think they are trying to make Catwoman more of a good character/ally nowadays instead of bouncing between a good guy/ally and villain likes she's known to do for many, many years/decades.
But I had already familiarized myself with The Long Halloween storyline before watching the movie, so I knew who the killer was, or should've been. Plus I finally read the comic during that month wait in between the releases dates for Part 1 and 2. There was still the possibility of them changing the identity of Holiday, but every time I saw Holiday onscreen, I was just like: "Yeah, nice try on getting me to believe that's a man. It's really a woman. You can't fool me."
Oh, and the movie did remove/skip a holiday. Can't remember which one. Either St. Patrick's Day or April Fools' Day. It's whatever one involves The Riddler. Forgot the reason they skipped it/explanation they gave.
First reactions are ALWAYS positive. Been hearing that about EVERY major 2022 movie. And you know what? I haven't liked that many 2022 movies. I've only liked The Batman, Day Shift, Halloween Ends, Bullet Train, and Violent Night. And The Menu and Doctor Strange 2 as honorable mentions (if I had to pick some honorable mentions). I am looking forward to Avatar 2 though and I'm sure I'll like it, but I've been hearing this stuff all throughout 2022, and just look at how many movies I've actually liked. I can't even create a Top 10 Best Movies Of 2022. I sure as heck can create a Top 10 Worst Movies Of 2022 though.
Well, you are wrong also. The PC/woke police want us to say Latinx now instead of Latino or Latina. Latino and Latina are only okay now if that person 100% identities as male (Latino) or female (Latina) and makes it publicly known. If we don't know how they identify, then we have to say Latinx by default.
Yes and no, but that's really not the point of the movie. I watched the movie. There is more to the movie than just all the crazy action. Plus it wasn't a snooze fest. I remained interested the whole time, and I watched the movie tired/about ready to fall asleep any second (I'm even typing this comment/reply immediately after watching the movie). I think the marketing shouldn't have marketed it as some full blown action movie though and that there would be explosions and deaths/kills every five seconds. But I wouldn't say every. single. thing. was given away in the trailer/marketing. Of course, I only saw the one trailer too and maybe one or two TV spots, so I wouldn't know for sure. But I don't recall seeing every single thing action related in the trailer and the TV spot or two that I watched/saw. Some stuff seemed like it was saved for the actual movie.
You can't connect with CGI characters? You must've not watched a lot of cartoons as a kid then. Don't tell me you are one of those that can't connect with a character because they aren't the same skin color as you either or even gender. Oh, come on. I'm a mix of white/Native American, and one of my childhood heroes was Captain Steven Hiller from Independence Day aka Will Smith's character. Plus I enjoyed Kenan & Kel and Fresh Prince. I didn't need the character to be white, Native American, and/or even male to identify/connect with and stuff (I watched a bunch of stuff with female characters as well when I was a kid). So I don't want to hear you can't connect with a CGI character. Now, if someone was talking about wanting to bang or wanting to date a CGI/cartoon/animated character, then there would be some issues.
I think the runtime is going to hurt it in movie theaters. A lot of people skipped The Batman and waited for streaming because of its runtime. So I can see the same thing happening with Avatar 2. One can argue that Titanic did amazing and it was over 3 hours. Yeah, well, 1997-1998 (when Titanic was in theaters) was a different time. People weren't glued to their phones back then. Nowadays, moviegoers can't go 60 to 90 minutes without their phones/internet/social media. I actually saw Titanic twice in theaters when it came out and I was only in 3rd grade at the time. I handled the movie fine. But kids in 2022 aren't like how I was back in 1997-1998. Then throw in that streaming is now bigger than it was back in 2009 and up until 2019/2020. Back in 2009, all there was for streaming services was Netflix and maybe Hulu. Oh and theatrical runs for most movies are 45 days compared to the almost full year Titanic was in theaters, and however long Avatar was in theaters. And around Day 45, movies start making their way to streaming sites or some kind of on-demand. With that, people can just wait an extra 45 days to watch it at home compared to how long they had to wait for Titanic. If they wanted to watch Titanic, they'd have to go to a movie theater since back then it took almost a full year for a movie to finally make its way to VHS/DVD. It's definitely a different time. Oh and as I mentioned before, The Batman backs up what I said. A lot of people skipped it and waited for streaming because of its runtime. So people don't really want longer movies now. They want shorter movies. The 3 hour 10 minute runtime for Avatar 2 I can see hurting the movie's theatrical run. If people can't handle The Batman's 2 hour 47 minute runtime (that's without end credits, it's 2 hours 55 minutes with end credits), then I don't see how people will accept Avatar 2's 3 hour 10 minute runtime (probably 2 hour 55-59 minutes without end credits), and Batman is bigger than Avatar.
After watching the first episode, I noticed they are going the "strong female" character route with her. Good at everything and doesn't need no man or doesn't want to get married and have kids. She's too good for a guy and kids. Plus she thinks girls/women are good and boys/men are bad. All that nonsense we get nowadays when it comes to gender/sex. I'm getting tired of being told I'm a piece of crap. I get it. Time to move on. I just want to be entertained.
But the show is off to a bad start for me. Oh and after the first episode (because I'm getting tired of this "strong female" character stuff, and the pacing was terrible (that first episode kept going and going and felt 2-3 hours than 60 minutes)), I went to YouTube and watched a bunch of Angry Grandpa videos for the billionth time. Had more fun watching those videos than I did the first episode. And at least when an Angry Grandpa video ended, I wanted to watch another one. Can't say that about the Wednesday show. And as annoying as Bridgette can be in those videos, I'd rather put up with her than Wednesday. Well, this Wednesday. I liked Christina Ricci's Wednesday.
And everyone wants racism and other stuff to end. How does this end stuff? To me, this just makes it worse/keeps things going.
I didn't care for 9. The movie was all over the place. How ridiculous the action was in 9 wasn't 9's problem. It was a lot of other things, especially all the flashback scenes. But at least I'm still interested in 10 and 11 (aka 10A and 10B since they are splitting 10 into two parts like they did the final Harry Potter movie). To me, 9 felt more like 8.5 (although that's supposed to be Hobbs & Shaw) and 10 will be the 9th movie and 11 is the 10th movie. 9 just seemed like it was setting up 10 and 11 more than being it's own things, so focusing on the future than the "now." All the other movies weren't setting up future movies. Well, 4, 5, and 6 were all prequels to Tokyo Drift, but they still managed to make each of those movies their own thing and have some beginning, middle to end. But 9 I really didn't care for. There was just something really off about it compared to 1 thru 8, and it wasn't the action. I know how to have fun. Plus I'm not watching a movie for 100% realism. I'm old school. I can have fun with watching someone jump from a 30 or 40 story building and surviving. I know the difference between the real world and fiction. So whatever crazy stuff Fast & Furious does, I can just shrug at it and accept it. Also, the Fast & Furious movies are more practical than someone thinks. Like in Furious 7 when they went skydiving in their cars, or the whole bank vault chase sequence in Fast Five. Well, the only time it was green screen in Furious 7 during the skydive scene was when they cut to the characters in the cars. But everything else was practical. I'm sure the rope swing in 9 was CGI though, but other stuff could've been practical. But if some of the stuff was practical, obviously they are still within the laws of physics. But yeah. I can have fun with the action. My problems with 9 were in other departments.
There is two left. Calm down. They are going to 11 (well, 10B since 10 is getting the Harry Potter 7 treatment and will be broken into two parts so 10 is 10A and 11 is 10B) and stopping. At least for now, and for the main movies. They could still do spinoffs like how they did Hobbs & Shaw.
Everything has been done before. Tarantino mentioned this many years ago (I think in the early to mid 2000's since I remember him saying stuff while I was in high school still). There has been nothing original now for 50-70 years. All filmmakers can do now is repackage stuff in a new way. That's what The Batman was doing. Pretty much mixing Batman with Se7en and Saw, which we never saw before since EVERY previous Batman movie is action-y and explosions ever 3-5 minutes or Batman fighting bad guys every 3-5 minutes. For once we get to see Batman be a detective for majority of the movie instead of fighting bad guys. Pretty much ALL previous Batman movies barely let him be a detective. He does some detective work once in a while but is beating up bad guys for majority of the runtime while in The Batman, Batman (well Bruce Wayne) was pretty much just some detective wearing a superhero costume/suit. And I liked what they did with The Batman. They kept things interesting too. The movie felt 30-40 minutes shorter than what it really was. I've lost track as to how many times I've watched The Batman, and I can't remember the last time I re-watched a new-er movie. The last couple years, I pretty much watch the movie in theaters, buy the movie on Blu-Ray and watch it again, but then it gets shelved. The Batman though I've lost track as to how many times I've watched it. Good movie, and definitely my favorite movie of 2022. Shoot. There are days where I'm like: "Oh, I'll watch maybe 30-40 minutes of it" and then end up watching the whole thing, or before I know it, the end credits are rolling. That hasn't happened in years. Maybe the last movie was Spider-Man: Far From Home. Not No Way Home. Far From Home. For some reason everyone thinks I'm confusing the two.
They already got a new T'Challa set (if you watch the scene during the end credits). Either they are going the Young Avengers route and having the new T'Challa start out there, or they are going to SORAS the character (soap opera rapid age syndrome), which they already did with Ant-Man's daughter (not talking the five year time jump either because of Thanos' finger snap).
Pretty sure the rest of the world does. Mainly because in the first 25 minutes of the movie, every other line of dialogue (or every 5 seconds) was some variation of "T'Challa is dead." Just change "T'Challa" to "your king," "my king," "our king," "my brother," "your brother," "my son," "your son," and maybe "Black Panther." Also, there was that whole scene in the first 25 minutes where Angela Bassett was at some United Nations meeting or some meeting like that (by that point I was already getting EXTREMELY pissed off at the movie (mainly because of the dialogue that I just mentioned), so I don't have a good memory on stuff), but she was telling all the other countries that T'Challa was dead. So they probably passed the info on to the public, if it wasn't made public/word wide already. I think that scene happens after the one year later time jump. I think by then the rest of the world would know.
They can keep retelling it, but good god. Do we really need two or three retellings EVERY year? With how many retellings/versions there are, I think there is plenty to choose from on picking a favorite. For me, I kind of like the one with The Muppets, and I'm that big of a Muppets person. They are just okay, but there was something about their version I REALLY liked. But spread out the dang retellings. Maybe one every 5-10 years. Not two or three EVERY year. Ridiculous.
I think this is why I liked the Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci Sleepy Hollow. It wasn't the same Sleep Hollow story with Ichabod and The Headless Horseman retold yet again. They changed it up and made it into a slasher/horror/murder mystery type of movie.
I think Kevin Feige and a few others that do all the behind-the-camera/behind-the-scenes stuff have confirmed Blade WILL be PG-13. I'm not worried though. Just look at Hellboy. Everyone considers the better Hellboy to be the Ron Perlman Hellboy aka PG-13 Hellboy, not the R-rated David Harbour Hellboy. Also, I prefer the 90's Mortal Kombat movie over the 2021 Mortal Kombat movie, and the 90's movie was PG-13 while the 2021 movie was R. Then there is Werewolf By Night. That had some graphic stuff in it, but it was TV-14 (I think), which is pretty much the TV rating equivalent of a PG-13. But Werewolf By Night was in black and white though. So a lot of blood and gore was hidden/covered up by the special being in black and white, allowing them to get away with stuff. The MCU Blade will more than likely not be in black and white. For me, I care more about good story/plot and likable/well developed characters than a rating. So I'm going to be patient and give the MCU's Blade a chance. I'm pretty sure if I don't like it, it won't be because of the MPAA rating. I'm pretty sure that I'll probably not like the movie more because the now-tiresome/overused humor the MCU has now before I start pointing fingers at the MPAA rating.
I didn't like the first half of that episode, but I liked the second half of it, especially because of Danny Trejo. So I wouldn't say it was the worst. The second half saved it. At least for me.
For me, the worst episode (so far since there is only two seasons, but could be more) would have to go to Milkmaids in Season 2. That episode was boring and had the least interesting plot. It was a weird episode. I was also expecting something else, especially with what time period it was in. Was expecting a witch hunt type of plot or something about a witch or witches. It really wasn't that.
My least favorite episodes (so far since there could be more seasons than just two) are Milkmaids, Feral, Facelift, and Necro. Maybe in that order too. Not sure. Milkmaids is definitely the worst and then the other three could be looked at as in no particular order.
I actually wanted to add Drive to the list since it has Bella Thorne and I'm not a Bella Thorne fan, but the twist and plot got me. It had good execution. A little predictable in spots, but overall, it was executed well and I can't let my biased opinion about Bella Thorne get in the way of things. When the episode started though, and I saw Bella Thorne, I want to instantly add it to the worst episode list because of her. My immediate reaction was: "Oh god, it's Bella Thorne, This is going to be a long 39-40 minutes. Somebody please shoot me." But I sat through the episode for bragging rights, and overall I didn't mind it. My opinion on Bella Thorne hasn't changed, but I could tolerate her a little more than normal. She wasn't as annoying in the episode as she was in other stuff I saw her in. Maybe because she wasn't playing the annoying character she normally plays, especially her character in those Babysitter movies on Netflix. The episode would've been better if they cast someone else in the role. Maybe one of the regular AHS cast members that are the same age as Bella that have made appearances in this spinoff show.
The movie DID NOT get better for me. No Black Panther action until about 2 hours in (we should've gotten Black Panther about an hour to 1 hour 10 minutes in).
Then they had Namor flying around like he was Mario (they moved the wings from Mario's hat to his feet).
Okoye is giving a new outfit that makes her look like a predator and belongs in a Predator movie.
Nakia was my favorite part of the first Black Panther movie and the kind of love interest I'm looking for when watching a movie (she didn't cry and act like she couldn't go on when T'Challa supposedly died in the first movie, she continued to stay strong and stuff, plus she wasn't drooling every time she saw T'Challa and acting like some cheerleader), but in Wakanda Forever she didn't get to jack, especially action wise. She got to join in on the fight in the first Black Panther.
M'Baku was a complete joke and just there for humor instead of being all savage like in the first movie.
Don't like that they killed off Angela Bassett's character. Bad enough they killed off her Olympus Has Fallen character in London Has Fallen.
Namor was a meh villain too. He should've just been killed off for being so meh/forgettable.
What the frick was the point of having Martin Freeman return? He didn't do jack. All his stuff could've been cut out. He disappears for a while too and then the next time we see him, he is handcuffed and being transported to jail/prison.
And then finally, we probably won't get Black Panther for a while since the new Black Panther is just a kid. Unless they SORAS the character. They've already SORAS'ed Cassie Lang aka Ant-Man/Scott Lang's daughter, so it's possible. Not talking about the 5 year time jump in Endgame post-Thanos snap/The Blip either. The SORAS stuff is happening with Ant-Man 3. And if they go Black Panther: Young Avenger Edition route, I'm going to have to call them out. When did they have time to train him? And that might be some speedy training after what Nakia told Shuri.
