Runtime is 2 hours 15 minutes. Just announced. Yeah. I can understand that argument, especially since they were getting banged up in the first couple. Vin Diesel looked a little bloody at the end of the first one and Tyrese got his arm broken at the end of 2 Fast. Paul Walker also got shot or something at the end of the 4th movie. But every movie since 5, they've been bulletproof and not taking any damage. And when they do get injured, they heal pretty quick. Only thing though is that I don't really watch movies for 100% realism. If I want realism I'll just watch the news, Discovery/Travel Channel (and so on), or just go somewhere and sit and watch people go about their day. So I can let it go on everyone being bulletproof and stuff now in the Fast & Furious, although it didn't really start off that way. I think the 4th movie "rebooted" the movies anyway since that is when things started to head in the ridiculous and unrealistic direction it's in now. 5 is when it REALLY took off though. Only "realistic" stuff I call BS on is if it doesn't fit into the plot or universe a movie has created. So if everyone in Fast & Furious started riding unicorns or could time travel and stuff, then I'll be calling BS on it. And I'm big into Oscar movies and watch the Oscars every year, so when a Fast & Furious movie is released in theaters, I just want a break and have something "dumb/fun." And they usually deliver on that. I also do like the characters too. I could watch a two hour movie of them sitting around drinking beers and talking crap about each other. I was never bored at all. It kept moving for me. But I watch a lot of slower paced movies, especially Oscar movies, so I can handle something that someone else might find slow or boring. But Christopher Nolan's movies are 50/50 with people when it comes to liking and/or disliking. So I can understand why you'd want to wait. I've liked all his movies so far. Just got back from seeing it. Pretty intense for a PG-13 rating. But it's not about blood and gore of war. It's more of a survival movie that takes place during war time. Just got back from seeing Dunkirk. Pretty good. I enjoyed it as much as I did the latest Fast & Furious. Only thing though is that Dunkirk is more of a movie you only need to see once. Mostly because of how intense it is. I might watch it a few more times though. Will probably buy it on Blu-Ray too. Uh, I enjoy Fast & Furious and I'm going to see Dunkirk on opening day. So not everyone seeing Fast & Furious is dumb and ONLY watches "garbage." There are other reasons I watch Fast & Furious. Mainly I just want something "fun." Not every movie I watch needs to be Oscar winning or at least nominated for a buttload of Oscars. But I'm REALLY looking forward to Dunkirk just as much as I was the latest Fast & Furious. I'm not a "dumb" moviegoer. I like everything. I felt there was enough of the Lamborghini, so it didn't need to be included. With the Hobbs' dance, it still wasn't needed, especially to explain his gun was empty and that he ditched it. I just saw it as "well time for Hobbs/The Rock to start punching people and actually fight them since the director or The Rock wanted another fight scene or to show him punching/kicking people." Tej's fight scene just felt out of place to me and random. Could've been left out. It was only like 5 seconds too. Plus he was just fighting Henchman #100 or something. Not a major character. Maybe if was an important character like Rhodes and a much longer fight, then keep it. But I'm a pretty big fan of the movie, the characters, and the series/franchise. All the additional stuff just wasn't needed and I saw why it was cut. Except for the Ramsey and Shaw bit. It just threw the pacing off for me and felt out of place. And it didn't do much to help the plot. I was going in hoping for more stuff to help the plot. But all I saw was fluff. Overall though, the Extended Cut was kind of another gimmick like the previous movies. Even if it has more additional footage than what the previous extended cuts for the other 2-3 movies had. Those extra 12 minutes didn't really do much to the overall plot. I can see why they were removed. Except the Ramsey and Shaw moment. That could've stayed. And maybe showing the surveillance footage of Dom and Cipher getting ready to bust in. Everything else did nothing. Roman telling the others wasn't really needed. They could've left that out. The military trucks were coming from that way anyway. So Roman didn't need to drive there and turn around to tell the others to head for the ice. Hobbs' fight scene was in the Theatrical Cut. All that was added was just 10-20 seconds of him removing his coat/jacket and doing that ritual chant thing from the soccer game earlier in the movie. Only thing that did was explain what happened to Hobbs' coat/jacket and why he took it off. I was wondering why he randomly didn't have it on for that part. But overall that could've been left out. Tej's fight could've been left out also. I did like some of the "boring" dialogue parts. Mainly just the little bit between Ramsey and Shaw. Everything else could've been left out. It didn't do much for the overall plot. The Ramsey and Shaw conversation kind of helped Shaw's character and making him feel more like a member of the team. I could've sworn the Cuba race didn't have any new footage, but I'll have to watch the two cuts of the race again. Prison riot I noticed a few extra bits but they weren't much. I also didn't notice anything new with the New York stuff, but once again, I'll have to re-watch both cuts to see what's different. And I guess I was wrong about the truck Hobbs used during the sub battle/chase. The one Shaw got in and the one Hobbs used both looked similar, but after going to each scene and comparing them, they were different. So I'm wrong about that. I also thought everything was included during the Berlin stuff but I'll have to re-watch the trailers and both cuts of the movie. The only thing I was looking forward to was seeing them taking a little bit longer to show Dom turning. With him going on about family in the past few movies, it seemed to quick of him to turn on everyone. Would've liked to see him go through some struggle. Maybe show the team actually stealing the EMP device and seeing what he was like during the mission. I saw it in a regular theater. The aspect ratio kept changing between 3 types. There was the common 1.85:1 and 2.35:1. The 3rd was in between those. Maybe a 2.00:1. Maybe IMAX didn't have to deal with the constant changing aspect ratios. And The Dark Knight aspect ratio changing wasn't as bad as Transformers: The Last Knight. In one scene it would change several times. Usually when it cut to another character or different camera angle. It wasn't like The Dark Knight where a FULL scene would be in IMAX and then the next scene was 2.35:1. It was all over the place and changing aspect ratios constant within a scene. And it happened with EVERY scene. Someone should've done a better job editing the movie. With the type of theater I was in, they should've just cropped the picture to a 1.85:1 or 2.35:1. The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises were cropped to a 2.35:1 aspect ratio for the type of movie theater I have in my area. Cipher said in their first conversation that she would do something if Dom told anyone. And she had eyes on him at all times, which is why he had those two guys from Fast Five block the cameras of the alley and why he lifted the hood on his car to block Cipher's view of seeing him so he could sneak off to make a deal with Ma Shaw (or whatever her name is, calling her Ma Shaw). What I don't like is that it was so simple for him to turn on them. He couldn't whisper, "I'm sorry" when he caused Hobbs to crash so he (Dom) could take the EMP device. Not saying Dom had to exactly look at Hobbs. He could've just said it to let the audience know he didn't really want to do it and was forced to. Instead it just seemed like he was doing it willingly and without a problem. But with him going on and on about family the past few movies, it's hard to believe that he just turned on him like he did. That's kind of why I would like to see the actual mission of them stealing the EMP device from that base. I'd like to see what he was like during that actual mission and seeing him finally agreeing to turn on the others. Then it would be more believable seeing his facial expression and how easy it was for him to turn when he rammed into Hobbs to make him crash. Hopefully with the Extended Cut that was just announced, the mission is included. They probably never filmed it and it's the writer in me wanting a better movie. But even the dialogue among the team as they were leaving made it seem that something was off about the editing and a chunk of the movie was missing. I felt like I had gotten up to use the bathroom while watching the movie and missed a key scene. But yeah. This is why I want to be a screenwriter. If I was the head writer, I would've added something to make Dom's turn more believable/convincing. It felt too rushed to me. I think it was originally 2 hours 40 minutes and cut down. I noticed a few things in the trailer that weren't in the movie. Plus that opening mission where they steal the EMP device and Dom turns seemed off and like something was missing. I spent 5 minutes trying to figure out if there was a glitch in the movie or I got up and went to the bathroom and didn't know. Even the dialogue seemed like he was carrying on from stuff that happened to before they were escaping with the EMP device. So maybe the actual mission was cut. But I'm thinking it was never filmed and meant to be like that. But I would've liked to see what Dom was like during the mission and seeing him trying to get himself to turn on his team. It seemed too rushed and too easy for him to turn, especially with him going on and on about how important family was to him. And I'm pretty sure he didn't know about Elena and his son yet. I think he finally learned when the audience learned what Cipher had on him. As for the phone she gave him, maybe she was just showing him pics that she had been secretly following him throughout the few previous movies. Even his reaction when the audience finally learned the reason, it seemed like he was learning also. So something was up and seemed off with the movie. I didn't like how quick/easy it was to turn on the others. I believe he didn't even know he had a son until it was revealed to the audience that Cipher had Elena and the son, so he didn't have something fully to motivate him. He just had the conversation between him and Cipher. Not sure what he was looking at on the phone Cipher handed him when she told him he would have to betray the team. He looked like he didn't know he had turned on the team to save Elena and his son until the audience learned what it was she had on him and why she was making him turn. I'm guessing that Cipher just had pics of how they connected throughout the previous movies because of how he reacted on the plane to Elena and his son. They should've actually shown the mission when they were stealing the EMP. Then we could've seen the struggle Dom was having with himself to betray the team/family. But he made it seem so simple. And it wasn't a shocking twist either since he already had the conversation with Cipher earlier so we knew it was coming. But it would've been nice to see what he was going through during the actual mission. Would've liked to seen him asking himself if he really wanted to turn on the others. But it just jumps to them escaping with the EMP and BAM he turns. He couldn't even whisper (while looking away from Hobbs to not let Hobbs know) "I'm sorry" before ramming Hobbs. So maybe during the actual mission it finally came to him that he would've went through it. Even when Hobbs called him before the mission, he didn't seem like he was going to go through with it. So yeah. They could've built his turn better. They must have since 9 and 10 have been announced and given release dates. Plus they are saying that 8, 9, and 10 is a planned trilogy. So they must have something going on. At least "blueprints" for each movie. I think Deckard kind of earned his way on the team. Dom got to "kill" him in New York, ending that plot line from the 7th movie where he wanted to go after the man who killed Han. Then Deckard rescued Dom's son from Cipher. And I think after Elena's death and Cipher having his son, it allowed him to let go of what Deckard did to Han. Dom was just so focused on getting his son out of there, and wanting Cipher to pay for killing Elena, although Rhodes was the one who killed her, that he let go of his hatred for Deckard. Plus as I said, he got to "kill" Deckard earlier. I think Deckard saving Dom's son was Deckard's test/trial to becoming a member. Something like that. That's what I'm trying to come up with for an explanation/reason for why things are good now between Dom and Deckard. I'm still a little upset myself about Deckard killing Han, but if I was to put aside my differences with someone who killed a person close to me, I'd make them do a bunch of things to make me forgive them. So I'm thinking Dom did something similar. I thought she did better in the actual movie than what was shown in the trailers. Her character is pretty much the best villain of the series so far. Not sure where to rank the movie just yet. I think I want to see an Extended Cut first. There was quite a bit from trailers that was cut. Probably explains why the movie was rumored to be 160 minutes long. My only complaint I had with the movie was with the mission where Dom turned on the team. They just cut to them escaping with some EMP device and then Dom turns on them and steals the EMP device to bring to Cipher/Charlize Theron. It would've been nice to see Dom's internal struggle with himself on turning on the others throughout the whole mission. Without seeing that, I felt like him turning felt way too rush and came from nowhere, although Cipher told him she wanted him to turn on the team. But I wanted to see him working with the others and trying to fight with himself on going through with turning on them. Would've made the movie a lot better. Not sure if the actual mission was filmed though. Maybe it was meant to be like that. But if stuff from trailers didn't make it in the actual movie, I wonder what else was cut. Plus the dialogue when they were escaping seemed out of place and that a part of the movie was missing. So maybe it was filmed. They will stop making them when they get to 10. It was announced and confirmed they were going to 10 when they the 8th one was being filmed. 9 is being released in 2019 and 10 is being released in 2021. So get ready for 2 more movies. 10 will be the end to a trilogy and the whole series. Well, supposedly it's supposed to be the end.
