Dany's demise was so fucking anticlimatic

After 8 seasons, her entire journey, she burnt King Landing and won the throne, she dies with Jon walking up and calmly stabbing her with a dagger? Its like the writers didn't even try and come up with a great death for her.

You have fans coming up with exciting cool ways to kill her, like Drogon turning on her and siding with Jon, Arya killing Grey Worm and using his face to get close to her to kill her. And what they do is just have Jon walk up and predictably stab her once and its over.

So we have lame deaths for Cersei, Jaimie, and Dany, 3 of the biggest characters in the show get lame anticlimatic deaths.

It really was anticlimactic. I was hoping those two would divvy up the main characters into opposing sides and start a new conflict that was dramatic and violent and much more personal than all the previous civil wars.

Instead, Dany and Jon just had one argument that ended quickly. There really was no need to cram everything into six episodes, doing so cost them any chance of working these things into real drama.

Agreed. Also I was expecting her in previous seasons to get pregnant and bare children with Jon. Their relationship was also rushed, it would've been better if they were more invested in each other as a family which would make Dany's death in Jon's hands resonate and impact us more.

They should've built this in season 5-8 instead of rushing everything in season 7-8.

It would have been SO much more dramatic if Jon and Dany had been married and maybe wondering if there was a kid on the way, when they came to serious disagreement and conflict. But then, it would have been so much more dramatic if Dany's mental state had been shown to be changing a bit earlier, or if Bran had ever done something useful, etc. But I think that Jon vs. Dany really had the potential to be gut-wrenchingly personal, but it was all over in two or three minutes.

Before the latest round of spoilers came out, there had been years of rumors that Cersei and/or Dany dies in childbirth in the final season. So I was really kinda surprised at how quickly it all ended.

Yeah I read about those rumors and I expected that more from Dany that Cersei. But the opportunity they had for this show was truly wasted, destroyed by a single episode. I truly believe that despite the dip in quality after season 4 for many episodes, the show could still have been redeemed for its finale. What an utter waste.

I agree. I think Jon stabbing her in the heart was an appropriate death, but for it to happen so quickly after conquered King's Landing? She had a powerful army, a dragon and was threatening to conquer the world with only our battle weary heroes standing in the way. There is suspense and so much potential for good story, but they end it just a few minutes later with a stab to the heart. They could have fit a whole (good) season in between that speech to the unsullied and that stab to the heart.

Yeah shit like what we just watched would never make it into one of George RR Martin's books, he knows how to build a proper story and get things to a good well built up conclusion with the proper time and work put into it.

What we just watched was something like a kid with A.D.D wrote, wanting everything to happen now and having no patience for build up.

Everything that happened in season 8 would have been stretched out over 5 seasons if the show was still being done the way the earlier seasons was. There was just so much shit that was crammed in and rushed it was unbelievable.

Ned would have been beheaded in episode 2 of season 1 if they wrote the earlier season like how they are now.

Apparently you haven't read "A Dance With Dragons" or "A Feast for Crows". No stories, no buildup, no conclusions, just characters wandering around randomly!

But no rushing through things in the slapdash fashion of season 8, at least, his faults lie entirely in the other direction.

I honestly think they appointed him king because he'd do nothing and make no trouble, while competent people like Tyrion cleaned up the mess left by the War of Five Kings and Two Queens.

And they think he has a low life expectancy. If only they knew the last 3-Eyed Raven lived for a thousand years!

I didn't mind the way she died, but I hated the aftermath. Why would Jon tell the unsullied what he has done and allow himself to be captured? He should have walked out of there as if everything was normal and quickly made plans to subdue the unsullied and dothrakis with Arya and the remaining Westerosi men. That would have made a much more exciting ending.

This whole unsullied/dothraki demanding "justice" after their destruction of King's Landing, the death of their mad Queen, and then simply accepting that Bran is the new king was completely ridiculous.

Exactly this. So many missed opportunities for great, exciting drama and in the end it’s just feels like a checkbox list to get through.

Such a boring, lazily written finale with some incredible music and cinematography. A real shame.

Because that’s the only thing a Jon Snow would do. If he had done it your way, a lot of people would have screamed: "That was SO out of character!" – and they would’ve been right.

All of it before Grey Worm walks in to see dead Dany and says: "So, let me see, was anybody in here with her?"
So, he’s got, what, 15 to 20 minutes to make the plans and subdue them? And of course, with lots of more bloodshed because Jon’s so into killing people…

He could have killed Grey Worm and made Arya wear his face so she can order the unsullied to lay down their weapons or walk out of the city. There's a dozen way this could have gone other than a completely silly trial where the remaining "leaders" somehow try to please dumb and sadistic foreign invaders who have lost their only reason to be there.

The old embrace and stab/shoot death is about as cliche as it gets. For a show that has always prided itself on avoiding cliches and being shocking, this was a pretty cheeseball move.

As long as the road leading there is good and makes sense. The last 2 season were rushed and butchered.

Yeah sure a cool shocking thing like Arya using Grey Worm's face and killing her would be so lame wouldn't it? Jon doing the cliche predictable hug and stab was so exciting and much better than that wasn't it?

Definitely anticlimactic. Jon’s story was also anticlimactic... Not just with how his story ended, but also he basically didn’t do anything important during the whole final season.

I at least expected him to have one more epic sword fight with someone or something... The Night King - nope. After that quick death I thought he might end up having to duel Grey Worm, but no again. Nothing...
