I walked out after about 45 minutes, thankfully a friend of mine works in the cinema so I saw this for free but it truly is exactly what you said. Also really unfunny as well. Only just read now that it's written by Chris Morgan who also wrote 7 of the 11 Fast & Furious films. Don't get me wrong the Fast films can be fun trash thanks to the ridiculous action sequences but Red One was just actual trash. Critics said the same for Beetlejuice 2 and I thought it was a weak sequel. Only 3 legacy sequels have been made that are better than the original and they are Mad Max: Fury Road, Blade Runner: 2049 and Top Gun: Maverick. I don’t expect Gladiator 2 to be as good or even better than the first but I hope it’s a much better legacy sequel than Beetlejuice 2. You’re not alone. How this is certified fresh on rotten tomatoes I have no idea, it’s such a soulless and boring film that goes knowhere interesting Certified cash-grab more like. The first film is bad bad This sequel is fun bad. There are far better modern slasher films out there such as X, Ready or Not, Thanksgiving and the Terrifier films but you can have a good enough time with Blood and Honey 2 I suppose. It is absolutely not and it's one of the worst comic book movie reboots ever made along with Hellboy (2019) and Fantastic Four (2015) This should have been a solid, low budget horror film like an Evil Dead film but with Hellboy but instead it's just a boring mess of a film from a mediocre director and a poor script. It isn't worth your time or money. I really hope this is the case, I really don't want his Venom in the MCU. I must admit I do quite like the lore and I think it’s worked out well so far for this franchise as Sienna has become one of the most likeable final girls in slasher history after only two films. I could watch many more Terrifier films if they keep Sienna battling Art and adding some new things to the lore each time, as long as the films don’t get bogged down in it with endless exposition then I’m cool with it. Just seen it and I’d say it’s the best one yet. Less lore and more gore, tighter pacing and the Christmas setting juxtaposes nicely with the horrific things happening on screen. David Howard Thornton is once again fantastic as Art the Clown and Lauren LaVera‘s Sienna is still a great final girl to root for. Overall if you enjoyed the first two you’ll surely enjoy this one. 1/10 Todd Phillips totally misjudged the fact that when you make a film to subvert audience expectations (like The Last Jedi or the final season of Game of Thrones) there will be huge backlash now thanks to how quickly word of mouth can spread online. Instead of making a natural continuation of the character from the first film we had this uninteresting, contrived, expectation-subverting borefest. Subverting expectations is the worst storytelling technique, it’s not clever and just pisses off your audience that paid to see your movie because you’re basically trolling them. Thankfully Todd Phillips has had his own expectations subverted as his movie has been rightfully panned by critics and audiences alike and bombed at the box office. He somehow managed to make a worse sequel than his own The Hangover Part 3 and I won’t go see any of his future films, anyone that trolls their audience is not someone I want to support. Yeah, all I could think of was Terminator Genisys but the anticipation for that wasn't as high as Joker 2, although Arnie returning to the franchise did get fans excited. The trailer however spoiled a big twist and also you could kinda tell it was going to be a crappy cash-grab. Joker 2 had good trailers but the buzz was numbed a bit when people started finding out it was a musical. View all replies >
