I haven't seen all of her movies, only a few, but these are three of my favorites of hers so far.
What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?
Autumn Leaves
Strait-Jacket
I've also seen Sudden Fear and Berserk. Didn't care for Berserk, even though her acting was fine in it. I just didn't like the movie. Sudden Fear started out good, but then went downhill for me. There's more I have to see.
LOL, thank you!
LOL
Yes! Thank you! It always bothered me when shows would blame one character when it was more than one person at fault.
Yeah, dreams are strange indeed. I once had a funny one when I was younger, that I was trick or treating, and Michael Myers was coming after me. I got away by hiding in the women's restroom of a gas station or grocery store, I can't remember. Since Michael wasn't allowed in the girls' room, he left me alone. LOL.
Well, Fred and Ricky I think were going to work on something, and they overhear the neighbors through the furnace, I think.
As far as tying that woman in the closet, that bitch had it coming. She was nasty to Lucy!
You're right, it doesn't :) What I didn't like about The Publicity Agent is the way Ricky got back at Lucy and Ethel. That was just mean spirited. Lucy Plays Cupid, Ricky had no right to tell Lucy she couldn't give the letter to that guy, and then he spanked her! The other two, just didn't really tickle the funny bone.
I know this thread is 7-years-old, but I'm going to reply anyway. I'm going through the whole series from beginning to end, and I'm still on season 1. I used to watch this show religiously in the 90's as a kid when it was on Nick at Nite. These are the 5 episodes O don't really care for. In no order, by the way.
1. Lucy Plays Cupid
2. The Young Fans
3. The Ballet
4. The Publicity Agent
5. Cuban Pals
Those are just season 1, I know, but maybe I'll do more as I continue through the seasons.
In The Seance, Lucy reads Ricky's horoscope and believes trouble will be in store for him, so she tells Mr. Merriweather no, thinking he's Ricky's barber, but he's a man who wants to hire Ricky for a show. Ricky takes Lucy down to his office to settle things. She tells him they're having a seance at their apartment that night. The poor man thinks he's talking to his late wife and late dog, but it makes him happy, and Ricky gets the job.
In Amateur Hour, Lucy buys an expensive dress, even though it's on sale. Ricky tells her that if she can come up with the money, she can keep it. Lucy gets a job babysitting two bratty twin boys, and then makes money being in the show with them.
Yeah, I've been re-watching the show, and Lucy could be selfish and childish at times. I get Ricky didn't want her in show business, but would it have killed him to let her be in a few of his shows? In The Diet episode, he even tells her she did wonderful. So there were some things she could do. They could compromise on certain things.
Yeah, that's a good point, but you never know with Lucy. I actually felt bad for Ricky in this episode. First, he gets yelled at, then she keeps complimenting him and won't let him explain the truth, and then she almost gives the guy a stroke. She lies to him that's it's their anniversary, and he buys her a bunch of nice things to make up for the fur coat. Poor guy!
Agreed! I love this episode! What I always wondered was, if that guy at the beauty shop hadn't ratted Lucy out, would Ricky have recognized her?
Hi! It has been forever since I watched the Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour. I agree with you about the Tallulah Bankhead episode, it's my second favorite. My first one would probably be the Danny Thomas one. Danny's reactions to Lucy coming over constantly, the snowball fight, and the courtroom scene in the end. Hilarious!
Not really. I just don't care.
I never said that. Of course, everybody has a right to like who they want. I just mean it's easier to separate the art from the artist.
Happy New Years!
To be fair, though, most of the characters on this show aren't good people. Rip, Beth, John, Jamie, etc.
I've only seen the original from 1937 and the 2012 version. I love the 1937 one!
I could see Hal, wanting to be healthier, start dieting and exercising, and Rosemary, inspired, decides to do it, too. They both love each other for who they are, but they both want to be healthy, and live a long and Happy life together for their future kids, should they have/want any.
