It's a tough call. I would probably put Elvis Presley just ahead of him. Michael Jackson was kind of my generation's Elvis. Elvis' death made front-page news in an era where entertainment usually didn't warrant such coverage. He was more than a rock star/pop star...as the years have progressed, I don't think younger people today realize just how huge Elvis was. He was a real phenomenon. Sad to see this...been some sad passings in recent days and this is one also. RIP. Interesting take. It's been a long time since I've seen this movie, but I thought Sean Penn did a great job in this one. I really liked this movie (one of the few movies I actually saw in the theater when it first came out...I was in college at the time). I've never heard Elvis' version of it...I'm going to have to check his version out! "Lord, I'm 500 miles from my home." I think this is a Pete Seeger song, but I believe both The Kingston Trio and Peter, Paul, and Mary did a version of this and that's how I'm familiar with the song. I'm a college basketball fan...I'm in "Big Ten Country," so I watch a lot of Big Ten basketball. I think it's been a strange season so far. A lot of the "traditional powerhouses" have struggled and I agree that March Madness should be really unpredictable this season. Purdue was doing really well, but they've lost their last 2 games and they seem to choke in the Tournament every single year. There are a lot of very good teams in the Big Ten, but I don't think any of them are great. Looking forward to March Madness! I'll be the oddball here...I actually like Dylan's "singing" on some of his songs ("Like A Rolling Stone," "Tangled Up In Blue," "Shelter From The Storm," et.al.). However, at some point in the 90s, he got to the point where his "singing" was just about unintelligible and it really got bad. He's a first-rate songwriter for sure, though. I agree...I am not a Michael Bolton fan either! Kris Kristofferson...a first-rate songwriter and talented guy, but his "singing" voice isn't so great! Living here in Ohio, we still have a lot of Pizza Huts. What I find is that the Pizza Huts in the "smaller towns" are still really good, but the Pizza Huts in the bigger cities/areas aren't as good as they used to be. Here's "Radio Waves" from his "Radio K.A.O.S." album in the 1980s. I know Roger Waters came out some years back and said he didn't like the album overall, but I think this is a great song: https://youtu.be/VIBCPAWUEKM Really sad to see this...she was one hot woman back in the day. I never really saw any of her movies that I remember (Well, I did see one: "Naked Gun 2 1/2:The Final Insult." 😃). I always remember her from "The Shawshank Redemption"..."the lovely Raquel." And she was indeed lovely...RIP. This one finally dawned on me tonight during my afternoon walk..."Who'll Stop The Rain?" by CCR. What a great song! Awesome story...thank you for sharing! I never met Mr. Ermey either, but I've worked with a lot of military people over the years (mostly ex-military) and a couple of them met him (at events similar to the one you and your daughter met him). He was very much a Marine, but he was a very intelligent man and I think he was a great actor. To be honest...I really hope he doesn't. He's fortunate to still be here. I would like to think he'd make a killing on the "public speaking circuit" and as a motivational speaker (if that's still a "thing"). Dale Dye (We primarily have him and R. Lee Ermey to thank for the realism we've had in war movies since the mid/80s). He's not as old as I thought (he turns 79 later this year), but glad he's still around. I'm certainly no expert on the subject matter, but I would say "both" as well...I think Roger Waters was probably correct about that. "Wish You Were Here"--what a great song. RIP, Syd Barrett. McDonald's for me. I live about a 5-minute drive from the nearest one and it's a great place for my boys and I to eat. Robin Williams--"Mork & Mindy." I know he appeared on "Happy Days" first, but I first saw him on this and really followed his career closely after that. I still miss him. R. Lee Ermey--"Full Metal Jacket." I think it's the greatest acting performance of all time. I miss him also. Michael J. Fox--"Family Ties." One of those actors that spanned my teenage years and holds a special place in my heart. Bruce Willis--"Moonlighting." I thought this was such a great show. Sad to see his health issues today...I have enjoyed a lot of his films. Jim Caveziel--"The Passion Of The Christ." I thought he did a fantastic job in this...he's had a pretty nice career and I pull for him to do well (he seems like a genuinely nice man off-screen). Mel Gibson--"Forever Young." I never saw any of the "Lethal Weapon" movies...I saw this one in the theater when it came out in 1992 and I really liked it. I thought Gibson was very good in this and appreciate his career as both an actor and director. Joe Morton--"Crossroads." I loved his performance in this and have followed his career pretty closely afterward. I think he's a very underrated great actor...I love the way he speaks and how he delivers his lines. Yay! I will wear long pants when going out to most public places (like a restaurant), but I'll wear shorts when doing things like picking up my boys from school. I like wearing shorts.
