I love John Denver's music! Hard to narrow it down to 3:
1) "Rocky Mountain High"
2) "The Eagle And The Hawk"
3) "Calypso"
I can't just do 3...here is my Top 10 (actually, a Top 11):
4) "I'm Sorry"
5) "Some Days Are Diamonds (Some Days Are Stone)"
6) "Back Home Again"
7) "Goodbye Again"
8) "Sunshine On My Shoulders"
9) "For Baby (For Bobbie)"
10) "Take Me Home (Country Roads)"
10) "Thank God I'm A Country Boy" ( can't exclude this one either)
My favorite ZZ Top song: "Gimme All Your Lovin'." I can't believe this song is 40 years old now!

Going to channel my "inner hownos" here (and his short clues! 😃) with these next few clues...proper names, might be more than one song that mentions them, but here goes:
70s rock/folk/country...singer passed away a few years ago:
Mario Andretti
70s singer-songwriter, long-deceased, love the lyrics that he wrote (This is from one of his "more obscure" songs):
I've traded love for pennies
Sold my soul for less
Lost my ideals in that long tunnel of time.
I've been guessing (or trying to guess) and enjoying that so much...time for me to give back and post some lyrics of my own!
Early 90s folk, great song by an underrated British singer/songwriter/guitarist:
Well, he reached for her hand and he slipped her the keys.
He said, "I've got no further use for these.
I see Angels on Aerials in leather and chrome
Swoopin' down from Heaven to carry me home."
I didn't do as well on this one...21/25 for me. I missed 4, 8, 16, and 18 (I know The Who's version very well and can play that on the guitar).
Besides the ones I missed (with an asterisk for #18), the only ones I knew but don't know how to play on the guitar myself were 14, 15, 24, and 25. He had some interesting song choices...I especially liked that he included 10 and 22 on his list.
I've never listened to Tupac (rap really isn't my thing) and George Michael was "hit and miss" for me (I really liked "Everything She Wants," "Faith," and "Father Figure," plus his version of "Last Christmas")...George Michael for me.
Going old school with this...The Bobby Fuller Four. Had one of the greatest songs ever written with "I Fought The Law" and that was it.
I've always thought Hollywood should've made a movie about Bobby Fuller...from what I've read and heard, the consensus is that he didn't really commit suicide, but was murdered. A real shame...wonder how many hits Fuller would've had if he had lived.
While I'm sad at what happened to INXS and Michael Hutchence, they had a pretty good run for at least a decade. FYI, "Don't Change" was the very first video I ever saw on MTV and it's probably still my favorite song from them (although I love the guitar work on "Devil Inside").
And that's what makes the world go round! 😃 As a kid, my older sisters both had the "A Star Is Born" album and I would listen along with them. "Watch Closely Now," "Hellacious Acres," etc. I loved those songs and I thought the Streisand songs were boring (although I did eventually grow up and realize the beauty of "Evergreen").
