I agree. I've watched all the previous movies so far and visited all the moviechat boards for each one and a lot of people say Revelations is the worst one thus far, to be honest it probably is the worst one from the Hellraiser movies so far, but it's actually not a bad movie overall.
I had the impression people really just didn't like this as a movie, period, so I wasn't expecting much - but it wasn't that bad (especially considering the budget!), I rate it just slightly lower than Bloodline, Deader, and Hellworld at 4/10.
I can see that, only problem is I've rated some REALLY bad movies 3/10, so in my personal ratings system, it would be harsh to rate it a 3/10 as, imo, it's not as bad. It's definitely not a 'good' movie, it's very, very average. Maybe a 5/10 would be more accurate.
Yes interesting, I can see how people 10-15 years ago maybe went into some of the later Hellraiser movies thinking they'd be similar to the first two or three movies and then be disappointed so not really score the film based on its own merit rather than it being closely linked to the first three movies. Because I've been warned the latter movies aren't very similar, I'm able to enjoy them for what they are.
I gave this one a 5/10, but I can see why fans previously may have given it a lower score due to disappointment. When disconnecting Hellraiser from the movie, though, it's not too bad, similar to Deader, Hellseeker, etc.

If I remember correctly; you do see her in the outfit briefly but I think only in a flashback or two from the previous movie.

I agree, I thought Covenant and Prometheus were more sophisticated, and I mean with these Alien movies you can't leave it on a 'happy' ending. I gave this one a 5/10; like another thread mentioned, it was pretty much just a mash up of the other movies and didn't serve any purpose to the story nor the viewer. It was just a generic Sci-Fi horror movie with some fairly good CGI (bar Rook!)
They could have had something interesting with ND but they wasted that potential when they decided to take out Rook's chip.

As per the title; I do, in fact, think it was slightly worse.
I thought Hellseeker was a point better than Deader. Hellseeker was similar to Inferno (which I gave a 7/10, of which the only other movie in the franchise I scored that high was the first!), I gave Hellseeker a 6/10 and Deader a 5/10. The toilet jump scare, the train, the claustrophobic scene, and bathroom scene were all solid (where she tries to get the knife out of her).
An okay ending but did feel tacked on, in fact the whole story did feel very blasé and really failed to get much emotion from the viewer, imo.
Hellseeker I thought the story was more interesting as it was similar in a lot of ways to Inferno, but then they had the larger, unexpected 'twist' at the end.
I'm just about to check out Hellworld :o
I don't think it was significantly weaker, but yes like Sidha108 said, it seemed like it was somewhat rushed for other projects, and to me it seemed like a pilot/prototype more for the 'Scary Movie' franchise. 5/10.

I've only seen the first two and this one. I rated the first a 7/10, second a 6/10, and this a 5/10. I think it was really much of the same as the first two; the comedy was actually quite good but somewhat out of place seeing as the first two were more serious. I think this movie was somewhat of a prototype/pilot for the 'Scary Movie' franchise as I think they're both produced by 'Dimensions' - I haven't looked into that at all (if you can't tell) so I could be completely wrong on all accounts, but yeah, even if it wasn't intentional, it did feel like a Scary Movie 0.5.
Creed was awesome, though - this movie had a couple of songs that I'd not heard from them before, which was cool! Good 00's nostalgia as well, can't beat that. I think the movie at its core, though, was a bit samey-bamey, unfortunately.
Exactly, I think Inferno just about beats it, but they were both quite similar stories throughout, I gave Inferno a 7/10 and Hellseeker a 6/10.

Some people don't watch movies to really have to dig deep into the nitty gritty of 'why was this movie like this?'. I gave it a 5/10. I guess, judging from other posts and comments, you have to read Hunter S. Thompson books and stuff to get it. I don't read books cause I'm dumb af.
It's one of those 'cult classics' but I'm not in the cult nor want to be. It was fairly original, and good acting by both main characters (and good comedy at times), but I'm not a huge fan of artsy-fartsy day-in-the-life movies, tbh.
Yea it's definitely not a movie in the traditional sense, just a more day-in-the-life of a couple of drug fiends whom go on vacation. I'd probably give it 5/10, as it's something a bit different, had a slight charm about it, and it did have its funny moments.
Pretty much agree, but I think I gave both movies a 6/10 for differing pros and cons. The plot is very confusing, the ending is anti-climactic. The animation is really good (even for todays standards, like you said), there are a couple of very iconic scenes (notably the intro of the Major floating down and using her thermo-optic camo, and the fight with the puppet in the water). Admittedly, the fight against the tank is really good, as well. But it's all animation focused and sure animation is very important in an anime, but a movie comprises many other facets and having really strong animation, setting, aesthetics, combat scenes, weapons, effects, sounds (not music, hated the music) and average/bad everything else will get you a slightly above-average rating, imo.
It did also help inspire The Matrix, which I'm a huge fan on, so big props to the movie for that.
It's definitely a movie whereby if you watched it back when it was first released, most people would probably rate it 8 or above, but now having to compare the storyline to other movies, you're expecting a certain level of coherency and this movie doesn't possess it (excuse the pun).
In summary: Storyline and dialogue is a big part of a movie for me, and this movie's storyline is uninspired, complicated, and anti-climactic. Great visually and audio-wise (bar the horrible music): 6/10.
Very true about the competition part; I can guarantee maybe tens of thousands of women auditioned for that role and Kate got it. Like you say, not sure why you'd potentially jeopardise getting leading roles if you're going to look down on your previous work and people you worked with.
