"Worst of all time"?! Jeez, it really wasn't that bad!!! Okay yes the bad parts were bad (sometimes the CGI being one of them, especially in the Masquerade ball when they're swinging on the ropes - that's some hilariously bad CGI 😂😂😂) but the good parts were really good. 8/10!
Tbh the later Underworlds were TRASH compared to this movie (I'm hoping they don't make anymore, written: 2024), she may have been criticizing her own performance in this movie, though? I haven't seen the interview so I can't know for sure, but was she criticizing the entire movie or just her role?
I think she did pretty well but, unfortunately, knowing she has a posh British accent, the whole Romanian accent didn't suit her (like most fake accents don't suit most people) and should have just used her natural accent.
There were obvious flaws with the movie, but it did have a nice charm and aesthetic about it and a lot of other good points. 8/10 from me!
I really did think it was a very good soundtrack indeed. Very refreshing.
I noticed that as well.. They didn't really reference the reason for lack of support in the movie, either, did they?
I thought it was one of the best parts of the movie. It's sort of like saying 'you can't use a camera like that to record a movie based in WWI because it's too modern'. And yes that makes sense because when there's a tense or sad scene, it's not like the characters are listening to the music whilst that tense/sad scene is taking place. It's meta, metadata, it's not inside the movie itself, just like a camera recording the movie isn't inside the movie.
Now yes you can definitely have music that egregiously doesn't fit the movie (like flight of the bumblebee when spoiler: main character gets killed), of course, but let's be realistic here; this music definitely fit the movie.
Pretty sure the movie doesn't necessarily want you to like or dislike him. Just observe.
It probably is forgettable but tbh I forget most movies, which is quite a good thing as I'll note down my favourite movies and then watch them again in a few years and it's like watching a totally new, good movie! I gave it a 7/10.
This movie was better than all the others except the first movie, definitely.
I did, in fact, think I'd accidentally started watching an episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

I agree, although I can see why it was quite a break-through for back in '83, I can see why people liked it so much. Not a bad movie by any means, just not anything special compared to similar movies since then. 6/10.
She probably wasn't the best choice for the role, I agree, but yes they would have had to have cast someone around her age. In terms of her build and age, she was actually a good choice in that respect.
It definitely had a certain charm to it, great effects, the aesthetic of the movie is really nice, the witches were actually quite scary when first seeing them, some funny moments, great filming location, the fight sequences themselves were good (but very rushed and jump-cutty) but unfortunately the last quarter of the movie and all fight-scenes were very rushed, and it was too nonchalant in certain parts of the movie which didn't fit correctly. Less is more, directors!
I gave it a solid 7/10 (Extended version). I think if the ending was slower paced and more methodical without the out-of-place comedic lines, I would have given it an 8/10, maybe even a soft 9/10.
