Boring - If you love Hellraiser, skip this one

This one was a total waste of time.

If you loved the earlier Hellraisers and are expecting to see Pinhead and Kirsty and the Cenobites, note that they are onscreen in this one for just a handful of minutes (in fact, the Cenobites are onscreen just for a few seconds) out of the whole film.

It was as if the writers had just watched Memento and were trying to write something like that, but also had to figure out some way to attach the story to the Hellraiser series and through in a few connections to Hellraiser at the end.

In fact, I lent the DVD to a friend of mine. He happened to miss the main title. After that there was so little of the typical Hellraiser material in the first 3/4 of the film that he told me later that he thought I had lent him the wrong DVD.

Avoid.

You're an idiot and missed the point. The puzzle box was in most of the movie. Kirsty Cotton was in the movie for Christ's sake. Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean other won't. Hellseeker is one of my favorite Hellraiser movies. And by the way, the Hellraiser franchise is not solely about Pinhead and the cenobites, although they are the best parts in my opinion. These movies are about the protagonists' experience with the puzzle box. So check, and check for this movie.

I agree. Hellseer is my personal fourth favorite of the serie - even if it doesn't contain much cenobites scenes. Hellraiser never was about them anyways. As dispotion00 said, you missed the point.

In response to the previous posts, I agree that Hellraiser shouldn't be just about Pinhead and the Cenobites but rather the puzzle box and the experiences people have with it. But the truth remains, this is one dull piece of nonsense.

Die hard HELLRAISER fan here. O.K guys not the best flick in the series, thats a given. But the ending made the film. It came full circle for Kristy.

I used to not like the sequels past number 4, but when you really immerse yourselves into the stories, they're actually quite good. 5 and 6 in particular.

I was going to blitz the series during christmas holidays, but having read the imdb boards around hellraiser, i'd be better not to. I really liked the first, and the second was even better. The third was pants, so i stopped there.

I liked it a lot in the second when 'the doctor' saw the conobites as they took a stand, with Pinhead clutching the photo of himself, and the doctor said "ah good. A fight". Unforgettable. Like when Pinhead jerks his head to the side and whips his finger to send the chains flying. There's not many moments like that that are created in film. Not wanting to tarnish the memories i have of these, coupled with imbd messages, is my reasoning for not blitzing.

For what its worth, this one is a great deal better than the films that followed. It's the last one I personally find watchable.

reply

It's not a great movie by any stretch of the imagination, but for my money, it's a great deal better than Inferno, Deader and Hellworld. I would even give it the edge over Hell On Earth, though they both play at about the same level. There's definitely some stuff in this movie that will intrigue fans of the series.

Anyone here mentions Hotel California dies before the first line clears his lips.

reply

IMHO, Inferno is the best in the series so far.

reply

Even better than the original?

You're drunk. Go home.

Besides the incredibly handsome Dean Winters, there's nothing to recommend here. I can only hope the next one is less disappointing.

reply

It wasn't bad, just very confusing for me. All the dreams and hallucinations made things very hard to follow and I didn't understand the ending but I suppose it was still entertaining.

reply

I enjoyed this one, actually. Not as much as Inferno, but in my opinion its definitely one if the better films in the series, and way better than what followed.

The Saw Is Family

Exactly, I think Inferno just about beats it, but they were both quite similar stories throughout, I gave Inferno a 7/10 and Hellseeker a 6/10.
