It’s just too bad that Kubrick modeled the entire character after Harrison Ford - evident by the name Harford - and then decides not to cast him for whatever reason.
I suppose that’s a reasonable criticism, but honestly I think they were trying to stick close to the book and it’s just the way Red is written. Maybe being played by Morgan Freeman makes him appear saintly.
The movie is purposefully stylized, it’s meant to be a fable-esque take. Maybe melodramas aren’t your thing.
It’s not nice to talk about yourself like that.
Don’t try to
Make excuses for your ignorance. You describe Star Wars as “just popcorn films.” While they are blockbuster entertainment, this kind of inaccurate reductionism isn’t helpful for your cause. Secondly, your attempt to label people who legitimately criticize the Disney trilogy for being poorly handled as “obsessive fanatics” is an unfounded generalization. Star Wars was special to a lot of people, and they have a right to be a little miffed about it being poorly handled, and saying they don’t just shows you don’t care. At the moment I don’t even know what you’re trying to argue other than the fact you hate Star Wars fans, in which case why even hang around a Star Wars board?
Also what is so bad about being obsessed with films?
Addiction is disease... this is the third stupid post I’ve seen you write today.
It’s strange to visit a website devoted to discussing films when you obviously don’t care about films.
You realize that killing someone by physically exacerbating their health conditions can still be considered homicide. How would you like it if someone pinned your grandma to the floor and she died as a result?
Lmfao
Do I really need to explain to you the importance of Star Wars? We’re talking the Beatles of cinema here.
It’s more like gold-plated popcorn with dusted diamonds sprinkled on it.
But in all seriousness, they’re not just popcorn films, considering they basically invented a whole new mythology and reinvented pop culture into what it’s been for the last 45 years.
Alien, obviously. For one, it has a much better cast and acting. The direction and cinematography are also better. The characters are actually somewhat defined and have a backstory to them, instead of just being cardboard cutouts. And the design of the Alien itself is iconic. The story is also original and not just a remake of another film, and has more intriguing plot elements.
R/whoosh
From the opening crawl. Apparently there is a “First Order” now? What, how? The Empire was destroyed and the Alliance had taken over. Why is there even a “Resistance”? Why are we back to square one after only 30 years? Oh that’s right, this is a reboot.
Some of the most influential popcorn films ever made that changed the cinematic landscape and ushered in a golden era of blockbusters. So basically the “Holy Quran” of popcorn films.
Why does being a black kid in prison mean he has to be a “sonofabitch”? That’s just a tinge racist. Also that’s how the character was in the book, so I don’t see your point. How exactly is he “Ghandi”? He’s just a normal guy who’s fed up with being stuck behind four walls. Pretty relatable.
Also having committed murder is considered a “weak trait,” so your whole point is pretty contradictory. As well as smuggling in items into the prison can be considered being a “scoundrel,” and also when Andy first shows up Red is obviously a pretty jaded guy who’s not all that enthusiastic about Andy’s free spirit, and sees him more as an amusement before they become friends. Seriously, it’s like you didn’t even watch the movie.
Shawshank is basically an updated version of a Frank Capra flick, so of course the good characters are going to be pretty ‘aw shucks golly gee’ wholesome.
I mean that’s basically what you said.
Bruce probably would have sensed the bait was poisoned and ignored it. This was no ordinary great white.

If you already know the ingredients that are going into your soup, and that same chef has made shitty meals before, then yes - by that logic you know how it’s going to turn out.
