Chorus lyrics to a tender song accompanying a sex scene: Only a woman...can brighten up my day. Only a woman...can touch me the right way...yeah. Only a woman...is allowed to touch me there. All I ask is...that you’re a woman. Or chicken-cutlet-like inserts. It’s five years on and she’s still hot and looks younger than her 41 years. The Berkeley campus is lovely and the hills of Berkeley are charming but the city of Berkeley is pretty gritty. Nearby Oakland and SF have big city delights and horrors. They are playing against type. I can see the appeal to the actors. I’m with you. She does look fantastic. But you would look much better, too, if you had a small army of artisans fixing your hair, make-up, wardrobe and lighting. Plus she probably spends the months leading up to each film dieting with the help of a nutritionist and personal chef and working out with a personal trainer. You should try doing the opposite of your every instinct. If that doesn’t work carry a picture of a beautiful woman you refer to as your dead fiancé. Or get another woman to tell the woman that interests you that you are a bad seed. That’s the beauty of fast forwarding through movies that aren’t worth the investment of time to watch in their entirety. You get the gist of it and can watch the parts that look interesting or feature your favorite stars. Occasionally I’ll reconsider my decision and back up and watch it from the beginning at normal speed. That’s quite a bustline she’s got there. Yeah, I had recorded it on a DVR to check it out. But I could tell quickly that it wasn’t my type of movie and that many of the marquee names had minor or cameo parts. But Ms. Corfield, at least, made a positive impression. They will return because there is money to be made and many of these actors and creatives will have fallen on hard times. But there may be a long hiatus as with the Star Wars and Alien franchises. Or perhaps it’ll be some of the same actors as old men in a different movie but same genre as with the Expendables series. Thanks. Looks a lot like her to me. Yes. I found her especially fetching in Legal Eagles with the short ‘bob’ haircut. Yes, I see a resemblance. They could play convincing sisters. I was entertained but ultimately disappointed because I had higher hopes for the series. I thought it was lame that the protagonist was another Ripley figure and David another Ash. Even so, this film is still much better than Covenant. Brosnan looked very fit in his many shirtless scenes and cleaned up very nicely after escaping captivity. Together with his apparent wealth (dapper dress, good grooming, luxe living), quick wit and charm, I have no trouble thinking his character would appeal to many young, beautiful women. I only find it cringe-inducing when the older man paired with a much younger woman looks like Harvey Weinstein (i.e., fat, ugly and disheveled). In some models of station wagon the last row of seats faced the rear of the car, tailgunner-style. I and my siblings and friends liked to sit there and make faces and (polite) gestures at the drivers of the cars idling behind us at stoplights. I’m sure cancellation came with falling ratings and/or profitability but you have to ask why ratings were falling. Creative exhaustion and the aging of the kids out of their cute years both have to have played a role. Linda Purl
