If it was like 45 minutes shorter I would probs say it is forth it if looking for something to kill time. But it is long and just so blah. The intenseness that should be there isn't. Pretty much all the good parts are in the trailer. That’s not how free speech works at all. You can say what you want bar hate speech. But that doesn’t mean a business or private residence or the internet has to let you. You have the right to say what you want, they have the right to ban, remove or delete your comments. Free speech does not mean you can get away with saying whatever you want wherever you want and no one is able to stop you. Especially on the internet where shockingly so of the websites you use aren’t even located in your country. Honestly I didn’t want to say to much because a lot of the bad stuff does fall very much into spoiler territory. So if someone does want to watch it I don’t really want to spoil everything for them. Pretty much my main one and what destroys the movie. The main character does not do anything that could be considered realistic in the situation they are in and well past when could put down as suspending our disbelief. The movie starts off seeming it’s going to go in one direction but then just bails from that plan to do something else. Then it seems to be going in another direction and then bails from that. The character is portrayed one way and then portrayed completely differently and then gets changed again. It just doesn’t make any sense. It’s feels purposefully over the top in some parts you can’t help but feel they are trying to parody these kinds of movies without letting on that’s what they are doing. Exactly. Whoever comes next has a lot on their shoulders. Similar to whoever played the joker after Ledger. His time was cut so short it put a lot on whoever was to come next. Whoever plays Batman next really needs to bring the A game. I’m a little disappointed. There was a lot of potential there and had DC/WB not dropped the ball so badly, we could have gotten a couple really good Batman movies from Affleck. People are idiots lol. Money makes people think they are better than they are. Plus the two times we see people actually go after him, the first time they are obviously idiots who are run by greed. The second time the cop wanted revenge as well. The money was just the cherry on top and Castle was pretty much at his mercy. Besides that we didn’t see anyone else come after him. It’s called setting up a story. Even in the comics the punisher spends a lot of time DEFENDING himself. I don’t know if this is troll post but seriously, what a petty complaint that doesn’t make sense. Honestly I don’t think the Rock really cares. I think he just does movies he knows he will have fun with. The guy started as a Wrestler and look at him now! You only need to see how he acts outside of the movies and his personality there that seems he is just a big goof ball who is enjoying his life. Which comes through in the movies he does which I can’t help but feel the audience gets pulled in by. We enjoy these movies even when they are so bad because the Rock is just fun. I don’t think that will go down anytime soon. Plus his movies are a safe bet because we all by now know what they will be like. So people aren’t expecting anything different. I think they state that the sub was really deep down. That’s why they needed Jonas for the new rescue because he was the only one with experience doing a rescue at over 10,000 feet deep or something like that. So it’s possible they were at a depth a Meg could get too. Also it’s possible one had gotten out before all this but stayed at a deep level rather than going into shallower waters. It’s a semi decent set up for future movies as well. Since it showcases that the incident that released two sharks wasn’t a one off and obviously something had happened before where one got out. I think from what little we saw, it set up Goldblum perfectly. He doesn’t need to be hardcore. He rules the city by making it so anyone who does anything to him is punished. Also if he sees a way to manipulate a situation to better himself he will do it. For instance he kills The Nurses son, and turns her into his own private doctor with a private hospital that has a membership cost. Also potentially it was a role he also inherited. As it seems the person to succeed him would be a family member, one of his sons. So if this ruling crime family has been around for awhile that could be enough to keep people in line and have enough power he doesn’t need to be hardcore himself. He doesn’t need to show he is hardcore. He has people to do that for him in other words. I think if this had been a tv show instead of a movie, we would have gotten way more history here and been shown just why the Wolf king is so feared and so powerful. There was so much world building in this movie, it took away from the actual movie. It jammed to much in. With each character worthy of their own story. A tv show would be perfect for this. Or hell a graphic novel series. I enjoyed it as a fun mindless movie. But I see your points. I was really hoping for a bit more science. I’m fascinated by Megalodon, it would have been really neat if they went into the sharks history more. Really explain why it was such a beast and a true monster. Then explain theories on how it survived down there, why it may have been forced down there. Like give us that juicey conspiracy theory stuff lol. I think that was my biggest disappointment. We didn’t get anything that set the Meg aside from other giant shark movies. It may as well have been another jaws movie. We need that history that science that knowledge to see why this isn’t just another big shark movie, but something a bit more. Nah they would have starved to death. They need creatures the size of whales to keep themselves alive. Giant and Colossal squids would do it a bit but not enough to sustain a population to modern day. So they would have to have gotten way smaller in size and adapted really quickly to different pressure depths and temperatures of the deep ocean. Even with the vents they still have to have swam through that layer first. Which begs the question why would they swim so much deeper than normal and through something very cold. Rather than just follow the whales since they are willing to risk the cold at some point. Fun movie but definitely one you don’t want to think about to much. Any movie can work as a standalone. I have high hopes for the Joker one as seems they are very much doing a story that doesn't need Batman. Venom very easily can work as a stand alone because even in the comics he isn't just a villain he actually isn't fully evil and is an anti-hero. He does do good things. In saying that, Venom very much needs to be in a spiderman movie and done right. The potential there is amazing. I thought Apocalyspe was the last movie for her. Not to mention there really has been way less hype around this movie, and doesn't seem to be getting much press. Also with the Disney buying Fox. I doubt JLaw wants to get stuck in another multi contract movie deal if they take over the X-men movies and try and merge them into the MCU. Honestly I can't really see who else they could kill off that would be more fitting and who would have a decent enough impact. Also seems likely she is potentially going to get killed off. The scene with the coffin is potentially her. Makes sense if she is done with the series and isn't planning on doing anymore after this. Finishing off her contract then going out with a bang maybe. Yes hiding the truth like how he did in the other movies not hard to follow mate. And yet the trailer makes it seem like he does. The synopsis doesn’t say if he does or doesn’t really. I know the director didn’t want to give any lore to the demon, but I wish they had. It was a good movie but for all the praise, the ending was massively cliche and it would have been less cliche to actually have them defeat the demon. They seemed to be hinting at that with it not going in the water. But then when it did it still moved around. I was hoping it would reveal the demons weakness being it can’t swim or something simple like that. Kinda getting over these horror movies that do the “oh no it’s still alive and coming for them” ending. Like I got my horror thrills why not just let the ending show the monsters defeat? Also by not creating any lore, it doesn’t make sense to how it even exists still. The first person who got it should have died as they would have had no idea what it was. They wouldn’t have taken any precautions. Like seriously when you think about it. This demon should not exist because someone who doesn’t know it’s after them would easily get killed. Yeah I just found this to hard to believe. I was doing ok for awhile but then when the bully got taken and The little girl seemed pretty normal after that, not freaking the fuck out majorly. It finally lost me. Seriously grief is one thing, but knowing a child in your house can manifest his dreams into reality, that warrants a more in depth conversation. Like ffs this essentially proves magic or whatever is real. Also not to mention this kid seemingly has had this power for years, yet no one else besides the foster families have encountered it. Not to mention the other foster families never thought “oh my god this is amazing, quick get some cameras”. Alright movie but you really really really really have to shut your brain off to enjoy it. It just doesn’t make sense to me. DOFP seemed to set it up with Logan going back to the future, that Charles didn’t mess with Jeans head and she was in control (her hair colour and attitude make it seem that way). This seemingly because past Charles read Logan’s mind and saw his own mistakes with Jean and how that kinda screws everything up and a lot of people die. Then in Apocalypse we get it again. Charles talking to Jean and him seemingly helping her come into her power and control it. Not by messing with her mind but by not holding her back and trusting her. Now this trailer seems to be showing Charles going “nah stuff that” and blocking Jean mind again and messing with her head. I think they fully planned on doing more with this story. But maybe when they started getting into talks about selling, they doubled down on the effort and are just putting something together to wrap it up as they already had it planned and started. They should have cut their loses after Apocalypse. Stuck with making movies set in the X-Men universe but be their own enclosed story. That seems to be doing well for them.
