shareI'm okay with it. I think everyone is.
shareThe decision to go with an older Batman because of both Snyder's and WB's fondness for the Mark Millar version is what doomed Ben Afleck from a long run as Batman.
I feel that was WB's mistake and Ben Afleck gave a great performance as both a disillusioned Bruce and Jaded Batman but it would have been too unwieldy to try and get Ben to play a younger Bruce.
But does the DCEU/audience really need a younger Bruce? Why?
So he can make 4 or 5 epic movies, and have a great crime fighting career arc.
shareI’m a little disappointed.
There was a lot of potential there and had DC/WB not dropped the ball so badly, we could have gotten a couple really good Batman movies from Affleck.
I'm disappointed too, MasterPenguin.
In a funny way, I think the pressure is really going to be on the next Batman because as weak as Batman v Superman and Justice League may be, as Batman films go, Affleck did a great job (he's one of the few elements of the Zack Snyder films that seems to get anything close to universal praise), and so many of us, myself included, will always be wondering about what could have been (had Affleck got the opportunity to play the part in a decent solo movie).
Like I say, it's going to be a harder act to follow Affleck because at least Keaton got in two decent Batman films before left the franchise, Bale got a whole trilogy, and few people really regret that Kilmer and Clooney only got one film apiece.
Exactly. Whoever comes next has a lot on their shoulders. Similar to whoever played the joker after Ledger. His time was cut so short it put a lot on whoever was to come next.
Whoever plays Batman next really needs to bring the A game.
I agree. The failure of those movies was not Affleck’s fault.
shareCould care less at this point
sharetoo bad, he was pretty good. but he was too old anyway. they needed to start with someone younger. should have gone with Brett Dalton.
