Is this really the best movie board on the internet?
There's so little traffic. Even some pretty big named actors and films get very little posts.

shareIt’s the best I’ve found, I wouldn’t have set up camp here everyday for 4 or 5 years otherwise. We’ve got many knowledgeable movie and music fans and even some book talk here. You may bump into the occasional troll or otherwise unpleasant sort from time to time but it’s mostly a top notch crowd on General Discussion.
The specific movie and actor pages are unfortunately populated by a large number of goons that like to inject stupid U.S. politics into everything. Buzz words like woke, libtard, Trumpist, Demokkkrat, snowflake…Fuck me! I’m only here to comment on the new action movie I just watched and now I’m in a useless political argument..?
If you decide to stick around you’ll learn who the fun chatters are and who to avoid.
Best of luck.
👍🏻
sharenearly every post is something like "this movie is woke because it has *gasp* diversity in it (as if that's something new) or main characters that aren't white in a modern movie.
with that said, I do think social messaging/pandering is very much shoved in our faces all over the place so it drives people to the point of paranoia.
I grew up with a fairly diverse bunch of pals…lots of white kids, plenty of blacks, some Hispanics, an Asian kid, a couple of lesbians and gays, a Jewish guy… I’d say it builds character to get to know the ‘other sorts.’ We can all learn stuff from each other.
It certainly doesn’t hurt.
You keep an open mind and you find good friends in most places.
I have a very diverse family, so I'm used to it. Sure, I usually notice it in films but it doesn't bother me and I appreciate it. What people are exposed to can surely make them more close minded. a lot of users will judge something before they even see it. Plenty of times you can tell when something is going to be really bad, but that isn't always the case of course.
shareThat delends on who you talk to. Some will say yes. Some will say no. It is all based on personal taste.
shareI think it is, otherwise I wouldn't be here.
nope, but it's about the only one.
I miss the imdb message board days so much :(
IF IT IS ABOUT THE ONLY ONE...THEN INHERENTLY IT IS THE BEST ONE.
shareMy point is that the original forums on imdb are way better than this site could ever be and if moviechat is basically the only one, it's still pretty bad. I only use it for very specific reasons, but yeah. it came across my mind that my statement would seem that way lol.
shareI AM THE KING OF MOVIECHAT...SO I THINK IT IS FUCKING AWESOME HERE.
shareBut hownos is The Dean!
shareWhen IMDb folded I tried IMDb 2 which was just a troll haven, I shouldn't be surprised as IMDb itself was pretty much about trolls. I tried Rotten Tomato's which was also awful. I like this site as it has the old discussions from IMDb and the individual boards for films and TV.
I don't think forums in general get as much traffic as they used to so I just accept it.
Folks seem to forget that IMDb was around for what, 15 years? It takes time to "build an audience."
shareMovieChat is the GOAT (as the cool kids say), if ever the admins/mods need someone to step in and keep the place tidy I will volunteer my services! The traditional forum is MUCH more superior to reddit and Twitter where an opinion is only valid depending on how many upvotes or likes it gets rather than the content of the post itself.
shareI can use this site to chatter in GD, or look up IMDB comments from the past.
Where this site suffers is that the low traffic inhibits commentary on current and future film. But there IS commentary about current/future films, just not a superabundance.
As has been said more than once, its the best game in town. It would be cool of some viral comparison of film site forums could be done to get this site more attention in the film community.
