This was the first World Cup that I watched really closely (My oldest son is a soccer player). I really enjoyed it...coming from a baseball/basketball/football/golf background, I really have grown to appreciate just how talented soccer players are.
I think soccer is starting to become more popular in the U.S. I see a big difference with my boys' generation compared to mine. We didn't even have soccer teams in school when I was growing up. You're starting to see more athletic kids (who would've played other sports had they grown up when I did) starting to play soccer now. The next World Cup will be interesting, as I believe it's supposed to be hosted here in North America.
I think back to the mid/late 80s...around 87-89, when I was in college. I was obsessed with The Eagles back then. I love the guitar solo...short and sweet, but fits the song perfectly. Great song by a great band.

Fair points...but, if I remember correctly, she left Frederick also and I don't remember her being a "bad mother" before that (or even wanting to leave Frasier, for that matter).
They made her even worse on "Frasier," IMO. But I still think she was the one true love of Frasier's life...he never had the chemistry with anyone on "Frasier" like he did with Lilith.
Yes...but I also don't like the robotic, "The children's choir sing their songs, Ding Dong...etc." I believe I read a long time ago that McCartney recorded this in July...it's just too unemotional for me, I think. For lyrics that say, "Simply having a wonderful Christmastime," it doesn't sound like he is!
Again, though, a lot of people do like this song and that's great. It just isn't for me.
That is cold! We're supposed to get the really cold air later this week here in Central Ohio...not looking forward to it!
Glad you're having a great time!
10/10. I'm a sucker for acoustic guitar and Celtic-sounding music. I really enjoyed that.
1/10 for me also...I can't change the station fast enough whenever I hear this come on the radio! And I'm someone who loves The Beatles, Wings, and McCartney's solo music. No offense meant to those that like/love this song...it just doesn't do anything for me.
I was a "casual watcher" of "ER" during its run (i.e., I saw some episodes and I missed some episodes...I didn't watch a single episode after Dr. Greene's dad died...I was pretty tired of the show by then and it kind of amazed me that this show went on as long as it did).
The POP Network has been airing old "ER" episodes. I watched a couple...on one hand, it was interesting to see the older earlier episodes again (which are my favorite). On the other hand, there was so much emotional drama within an episode that I was drained after watching them. Plus, knowing the fates of the characters kind of killed the "rewatchability factor" for me. I just didn't really enjoy seeing them again and won't be seeking them out to rewatch.
Kevin reminds me of my youngest son, who was diagnosed with Autism/ADHD a few years ago. It's just a theory of mine, but I kind of think Kevin was Autistic/ADHD also (It wasn't a "thing" back then like it is today...I think I would have been on the "spectrum" also...it is a very wide spectrum).
Kevin was really smart for his age. He related better to adults than he did kids his own age (or close). Those are definitely characteristics of Autism/ADHD (not in all cases, but definitely in my son's case). Plus, he was picked on also and that definitely didn't help matters.
I don't think his parents really knew how to deal with him. In the original movie, I thought they were much better parents than they are in this movie (I think they come across very poorly this movie). Today, he'd probably have an IEP at school and would have educational assistance, unlike back then. But I think all these factors contribute to Kevin getting into trouble so much.
I really like Kelsey Grammer as an actor and am glad the writers kept Frasier on the show. He became one of my favorite characters...I love the episode with the karaoke machine--I think he's so great in that one! 😃
I agree with you regarding Frasier and Lilith. There was such a great build-up in getting those two together (two people who really belonged together, IMO). It was really disappointing, to break them up like that.
I would recommend "Frasier" to you...but Frasier is a bit different on "Frasier" than he was on ""Cheers." It's a different show in a lot of ways than "Cheers" was. I enjoyed "Frasier" through the first 7 seasons, but then I thought it wasn't quite the same afterward (still some good episodes here and there, but not like in the first 7 seasons). I'd be interested in reading your thoughts on "Frasier" after watching "Cheers."
5/10 for me. I do not like the sequence of events at the Christmas program. Buzz comes off as a real tool of a bully (unlike the original, where I thought the interaction between Buzz and Kevin was more "typical older/younger brother" stuff). The parents come across as really horrible parents...if I'd been Buzz's dad and he was pulling those tricks during the program (ruining my other son's "shining moment"), I'd have gone up on stage and dragged him off ASAP. And Uncle Frank comes across very poorly also.
To be honest, the original is such a classic and it really didn't need a sequel. The parents lose the same kid twice in two years? It just isn't the same as the original, IMO.
Yes! 😃 No wonder he had accumulated "$22,000 big ones" before Final Jeopardy! 😃
I did not like the ending of "Cheers." I think Sam and Diane should have gotten married and that should have been the finale.
I believe that Diane (not "Cheers") was really the one true love of Sam's life. Yes, they were polar opposites in many ways, but I think their marriage would have worked...we even got a "sneak preview" of them as an old married couple in Season 5 and they were great! They had sparks, the fire, the chemistry, etc. I thought the finale was disappointing...maybe not as disappointing as "Seinfeld," but disappointing nonetheless.
I thought Cliff was great and he seemed like a beer drinker to me. I think the "Jeopardy" episode with Cliff may be my favorite episode of them all. I'm trying to remember all the categories..."Beer," "Bar Trivia, "The Postal Service," "Celibacy," et.al. 😀
I really liked Eddie a lot and didn't like when they wrote him out of the show (killed by a Zamboni machine, if I remember correctly...LOL!).
I really loved Frasier and Lilith. Did you ever watch the spin-off series "Frasier?" I won't spoil it if you haven't...I enjoyed it a lot also, but it was a bit different compared to "Cheers." I think Lilith was the one true love of Frasier's life and I always thought her leaving Frasier like she did was really "out of character."
I watched "Home Alone" on TV yesterday (first time in awhile). I still got misty-eyed at the ending...Roberts Blossom was perfectly cast and his chemistry with Macaulay Culkin was magical.
This is another movie that I wish I'd seen in the theater when it first came out, but never did (I was about the only one who didn't, it seemed...what a phenomenon this movie was). I was a Senior in college when this came out...hard to believe it's been 32 years now.
I love both of those songs...always great to hear them again!
I'll share a couple I think are underrated. Here is "Good Day In Hell" from "On The Border." I had mentioned in another thread about the "rock edge" that Don Felder brought to the group. I love his slide playing on this:

And I really think this one is such an underrated gem: "Hollywood Waltz" from "One Of These Nights." As fond as I am of Joe Walsh and that era of The Eagles, my favorite Eagles songs are mostly the ones where Bernie Leadon was with them. They just didn't do songs like this after Leadon left:

I've never seen "Elizabethtown," but yes, I really do like "Almost Famous" a lot and "Fast Times At Ridgemont High" as well. I agree that Cameron Crowe seems to have a great ear for music.
