Why was Diane & Sam's marriage never mentioned again.

Did I miss something? When Diane & Sam were going to get married, and she went away for a while, why was she never mentioned again for many episodes, and why was the marriage never mentioned again?

That's the whole reason he sold the bar and bought a boat. She was mentioned numerous times after her departure.

The very last episode of Cheers answers this question.

I kind of wish they got together in the end. If I recall correctly, they did not get together. I only saw the finale once.

Get the DVD and watch it again. Greatest series finale of all time.

Actually, Diane, along with Sam's relationship with her, is mentioned many times over the years after her departure.

Exactly what I said.

RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Barbara Hale. You were great in Perry Mason. RIP William Christopher.

I did not like the ending of "Cheers." I think Sam and Diane should have gotten married and that should have been the finale.

I believe that Diane (not "Cheers") was really the one true love of Sam's life. Yes, they were polar opposites in many ways, but I think their marriage would have worked...we even got a "sneak preview" of them as an old married couple in Season 5 and they were great! They had sparks, the fire, the chemistry, etc. I thought the finale was disappointing...maybe not as disappointing as "Seinfeld," but disappointing nonetheless.
