Yeah it’s all very standard now. They did a remake with a short Hispanic guy as Magnum he lacked the charisma of Selleck. And Higgins was a female. I wonder if that would work set in modern times. At the time of the originals it was all very futuristic and exciting plus we were naive. Now with all the technology we have, would we really get excited that the car talks? The film is a bit of a mess and jumps around without a lot of depth. It is entertaining but not a film I have thought about watching very often since I first saw it in 1990. Mel looks the part hair wise. I rented heaps of films in the 90's the cover is typical of the era. That said it does look a lot like this one from 1988 https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094731/mediaviewer/rm1809908737/?ref_=tt_ov_i Not to mention the White South Africans' are called "Boer's" which means farmer. They are some of the best farmers in the world. When you take their land you are affecting your agriculture and food bowl. They take the land from skilled farmers and give it to blacks who don't know how to farm it effectively. It's like taking the space shuttle from astronauts and giving it to sci fi nerds. South Africa has gone to shit since Apartheid ended. They do that a lot with actresses and singers who start off with the girl next door vibe. For some reason they don't think that is sexy yet is better than glammed up most of the time. I always think about the ship crew flirting with and I sometimes getting involved with the passengers. I know it was back in the 70's and 80's but I still don't think it would have been acceptable. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speedy_Gonzales Spiders would take over the world. Buildings and infrastructure would deteriorate. Like it or not there are lots of jobs men do that most women would not touch. I just looked it up and yes I can see what you mean. I saw that a while back. I thought it was ok-ish but then I think grown up Shirley Temple was hot. I watched to the end but I don't remember much about it. I think it was meant as a morale boosting film which I tend to hate in general. No one wanted to watch a poor and broken Rocky, widowed trying to find his place in the world after being successful. Watched it all the way through first time around. I don't think I have seen it since. If I were to do the Rocky series again I would not watch anything after Rocky IV. Thanks, it seems you like a more masculine look. Spader was a bit of a pretty boy back in the day. He always reminded me a little of Robert Redford as in they both looked like college frat boy types. Yes, I watched someone very close to me die. You're up to start the next game. From wikipedia - In 1993, a California jury awarded her $1.5 million from a 1985 lawsuit she filed against record executive Al Coury and Network Records, accusing them of withholding royalties from the Flashdance soundtrack and her first two solo records. Cara stated that, as a result, she was labeled as being difficult to work with and that the music industry "virtually blacklisted" her. Sounds like she was embroiled in a lot of politics and infighting and her career suffered for it. Looking at her film and TV roles after Flashdance there isn't much that is notable. Her solo albums stop charting after "What a feeling" in 1983 and that only got to 77 in the US.
