I bet his family cried when apartheid ended!

He is a very ignorant, callous person. Pray for this government!

reply

Maybe.

Musk hates USAID. USAID helped end apartheid in South Africa. Now Musk wants to end the USAID.

reply

Great point! That explains it.

reply

Look what has happened since. Apartheid in SA has been exonerated.

reply

How so?

reply

You cannot be that simple minded. Sparky is saying that apartheid was exonerated.

reply

You cannot be that simple minded. I'm asking Sparky to explain their post.

reply

What do you mean you're asking them to explain their post? How so? Explain your post.

reply

South Africa has gone to shit since Apartheid ended.

reply

The part of it I think was because of white flight, about 1/5 white population left South Africa after Apartheid, I think Musk was a part of it.

Apartheid ended in 1994 Musk moved to California in 1995, the timing was probably not entirely coincidental.

The white population emigrated were likely wealthy people and educated professionals, that created a skill vacuum, combined with largely under-educated and inexperienced revolutionaries forming a government.

Then again they can't be blamed for leaving, because the new government started a land redistribution scheme, basically "aimed to transfer 30% of the 82 million hectares estimated to be in the hands of white farmers": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_South_Africa#Land_redistribution

When a government does not respect property rights, who would dare to invest?

reply

Like the property rights of black South Africans were greatly respected during apartheid?

reply

It's actually revenge

Glad you're finally being honest, cunt. Don't start crying when revenge is then meted out again.
No doubt we'll hear the usual cacophony of -

But brown skin though, the skin is literally brown

as if that constitutes a point.

reply

It was the apartheid, the black people did not matter, that was the point. I think it was like they were living in a different, much poorer, country, but the white part of South Africa was industrialised and like any first world countries.

Now apartheid ended, and property rights are under threat everywhere in the entire country. That becomes a problem for investments, for the overall of South Africa.

There are about 4.6 million white population in South Africa, about the same level as Jewish population in Israel (7.2 million), the 2 countries have a lot in common, including apartheid. Though white population in South Africa is 7.2%, Jewish population in Israel is 73%.

reply

Why isn't the rest of Africa industrialised like the white part of South Africa was?

reply

Well, like I said they lived in a different environment, mostly out of sight.

From what I understand they lived in overcrowded slums, and only allowed to do unskilled labour jobs.

It is kind of control so they can't rise economically, mainly due to the fact white population is a tiny minority, less than 10%.

Imagine black people mastered industrial skills and capable of producing guns, what would happen?

reply

reply

You need to have a stable government to industrialise, Africa even today is not the most stable place, that is why a lot of African countries need UN peacekeeping forces. The only reason UN is even giving a crap was due to the rich resources in those countries, they need the basic order to extract them.

And there are still old colonial powers active in Africa, I remember a report about France deployed troops about a year ago in an African country I could not remember the name, to crack down the insurgents, and I am sure France is not the only country has a presence there.

But some countries are starting to stabilise, I think those without much resources, taking advantages of the rising labour cost in China, and the low skilled manufacturing transferring to lower cost countries, which has been happening since 2010. I think some African countries are the main recipients of Chinese investments. I remember watching a video of an African leader bragging his country is going to be the next China, the analyst saying no, that is Vietnam, you guys could be the next Vietnam, something like that.

South Africa was a part of British commonwealth, kind of like the US, the white people were the apex predators, they ended tribal or civil wars, subjugated the locals but they created and maintained an order, enough to industrialise.

reply

Not to mention the White South Africans' are called "Boer's" which means farmer. They are some of the best farmers in the world. When you take their land you are affecting your agriculture and food bowl. They take the land from skilled farmers and give it to blacks who don't know how to farm it effectively.

It's like taking the space shuttle from astronauts and giving it to sci fi nerds.

You were being generous. It was the apartheid, the education of the black population mostly focusing on basic literacy and numeracy, with an emphasis on vocational training for low-skilled jobs.

Think primary schoolers, with no science and history education, to be sci-fi nerds I imagine you need at least high school education.

How so?

reply

His father has lived there all his life. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musk_family#Errol_Musk

reply

If you looked closely, it did not really say that after 1994.

reply

What?

reply

All it said was 70s and 80s, then jumped to 2015 biography.

reply

The title of this thread reveals more about you than you'd probably prefer.

reply

Wow, what a disgusting person OP is.

reply

Of course they cried. Their homeland went from a paradise under apartheid to a crime-ridden shithole when it ended.

You can find pictures of the aftermath of south african farm murders. They don't just murder them, they make them and their families suffer. That's exactly why apartheid existed.
