WTF? He's been blabbing about favorite films -- and publicly opining on nearly everything -- for decades. And he's defending a critical and commercial flop, using his rarefied status to defend a director/film under fire. He's one of the few directors that can sell a movie with his name alone, and can say nearly anything with impunity. The idea that he's "unemployed" and trying to suck up in some way is absurd. His quirky takes on films have been part of his badge since forever. Terrible misread. And I'm no QT disciple. I think he's grossly overrated.
Yep. It's slightly more of a fight than Roy Jones Jr vs. Tyson, but it's still not a real fight. Even at 58, Tyson has more skill from muscle memory than Jake Paul has learned during his attempt at legitimacy -- where his only loss was against an actual boxer, albeit a shitty one. Still, I hope inner Tyson goes rogue, throws a quick combo, and connects -- if just to flush out all this nonsense.
Better. For most in the US, TRW was their introduction to the character.
Eggers is obsessed with the 1922 film (no surprise), rather than the Dracula franchise. And despite Nosferatu being Dracula under another name, as a film, it's miles away from the others. I don't know if I'd describe as 'artsier', but it's different -- and Herzog's attempt to capture that difference didn't work. We'll see if Eggers can get there.

They're trying to make money. You make money by giving people what they want (aka, serving the market). Most don't have the standards you have, so the big screen is mostly filled with great visual content -- but safe, and preferably pre-sold (based on existing IP). Risk taking doesn't often pay. And most don't patronize that indie film here or there.
On the streaming side, you need fresh content on the regular.
They look and sound great, with plenty of style -- but aside from being clever at times, most of the writing is subpar and not compelling at all. The best writing is still to be found within what's left of "Peak tv" and maybe an indie film here or there.
But as always, what's offered is a reflection of what the masses prefer to consume.
Great songwriters but grossly overrated as a "band" (no small wonder why they stopped touring and became essentially a studio project with other musicians). And George Martin deserves a lot of the credit, in the same way boy bands today are molded into pop stars by someone behind the scenes.
Good, but not without Layne.
