Cue the Alice Cooper!
Yeah, it may be a total quest for revenge. Madison could definitely be dead; the rage Nick had for that guy, and the way he was looking at him when he killed him.
And when I said they might be looking for the little girl, that was obviously before she shot him. That just happened. And they still have no idea who shot him. So, if they were looking for the little girl, they still could be, which will be even worse given the fact that she has now killed Nick.
I think they were making it look that way to add to the shock value of Nick's death. The whole time you're thinking Madison, and then... BAM! I think Madison has been kidnapped by the vultures and that's why they are chasing them down, needing the flag information from Althea. If Madison has been dead this entire time and they were just tracking the vultures just to find that stupid little girl... that will be disappointing.
It never said why he picked them, but it was probably just unlucky timing on their part, trying to rent out an apartment and happened to cross paths with a con man. That was just what Keaton's character did; that was his running scam. That's why those two thugs beat him up in the very beginning of the movie - they were hired by the real Hayes, whose identity and apartment had been taken by Danforth (Keaton's character's real name) in the same manor. The fact that they owned a place in Pacific Heights was enough for him to know that they had the financial security he was looking for.
I felt the same way at first, as KOQ was one of the last sitcoms that I actually enjoyed, but then I realized something - Jerry Stiller's age. Arthur was the best part of the show IMO. It could still go on, as far as the plot is concerned, but what a huge hole Arthur's absence would leave.
There was a softcore TV series that ran on Showtime called "Lady Chatterley's Stories". I think it's a safe bet to say that there were probably more than a few VHS tapes floating around with that on it during the pre-internet days. I don't know about an x-rated version of this actual movie though.
I'd go 7.5, maybe 8. It's well above-average, for sure.
It might work if they made it as more of a straight family drama surrounding Tony's childhood, focusing on all the little childhood moments that made him become the man we knew in the series. A lot of people that were more into the crime family aspect of the show might not like it, but I would, having little Tony witness the tough times between his mother and father. I agree that it shouldn't be rebooted just for the sake of rebooting and cashing in. Trying to match the quality of the crime family drama genre that the series had, in the time span of a movie, would be a very tall order.
Fully agree. This was way better than most of the films nominated for best picture.
Those two are decent flicks. I would highly recommend "Bully", if you haven't seen it. He and Nick Stahl are really good in that one.
You've just introduced me to Frodad; never heard of it.
He looks like Jon Cryer and Adam Driver had a baby.
Westerns are normally one of my least favorite genres, but I really liked this movie.
I used to tell people about Yelchin before his career really took off. I loved "Heart in Atlantis" and "House of D", even "Along Came a Spider" in which his role was small but important.
I saw that once, several years ago. I remembered Mel, but I had forgotten who had played the boy. I do that all the time - forget who played the child in movies. They often turn out to be stars later, leading me to look at their filmography which leads to several "oh yeah!" moments. Thanks for reminding me of that film.
I've only seen "Alpha Dog" once; maybe parts of it another time. I've seen "Bully" many, many times. I definitely like it more. I really liked Nick Stahl, growing up, and this is one of his finest performances IMO. Also, man, Bijou Phillips was definitely a huge crush in my teen years, forget about it.
Yeah, I was having similar thoughts. I think they're trying to do a PTSD thing with Nick and the dam explosion.
It's probably like how no one in The Walking Dead has ever heard the word "zombie". I've always found it silly, personally. I don't understand the need to separate your work from the rest of the history of pop culture. It's always seemed like a desperate attempt to be unique and original, to me.
Those do look good. My favorite soundtrack of all time is from "The Big Chill". It's better than the movie itself.
You're welcome. Biohazard was also my first thought when I watched the opening credits.
I think so. I haven't seen then can yet, but I looked at the sword in the intro; looks like a match to me.
