Why were the Knights of Ren not in TLJ. RJ: There wasn't room for them. Me: Yet there was room for Rose and Canto Bight? See that's funny because I thought both Prometheus and interstellar were incredibly well done. Interstellar was far from what I expected but still really enjoyed it even if it was intentionally depressing. Yeah, I don't think any new fans should have any obligation to take part in the petition. It's not the entire fan base doing a petition just those who wrote and signed it. Nothing wrong with liking the new movie but don't tell others not to express themselves as well IMO. I also think if you wanted to try out star wars maybe watch the 6 movies that have been out for decades first before going in to watch part 8. I wouldn't decide to try out Iron man on Iron man 3 I think I would watch the first. I also don't think I would go into the Hobbit battle of 5 armies without seeing the previous Hobbit movies or LOR first. Looper is good IMO. It's a fresh and creative sci-fi probably one of the better of its genre made in the last decade or so. It had creative world building including a near future that I found exceptional. It was daring and full of intelligent writing with interesting characters. IT's wasn't afraid to go dark.. it had some very disturbing stuff to go along. It also had very subtle humor here and there that I enjoyed. I just thought it was a really well-done movie I watch it several times and enjoyed each. It's by far the best Bruce Willis performance in 15 years. Breaking bad was Vince's show but you could really tell which episodes were done by Rian each had a slightly different and unique feel to them. I found them the most comical and I really enjoyed the characters under RJ's direction. I especially enjoyed the FLY where Walt and Jesse are the only characters seen and they spend the whole episode trying to kill a fly... it was funny and you really got some in-depth look at their relationship and character was built too. I only got hints of that kind of stuff in TLJ. I thought the Yoda scene was very much RJ that I knew, Rey's Cave scene, The Kylo and Luke confrontation, Luke's situation, and attitude reminded me of something he would do. When Kylo and Luke are fighting and Luke say's I'm sorry I failed you and Kylo abruptly responds IM SURE YOU ARE! Along with Hux's attempt to kill Kylo while he was unconscious. Those moments had the RJ I knew written all over them and I really enjoyed those. But the movie as a whole is such a turd... I don't get it. Well, in this case, speicfically Star Wars is not just a movie. It has a huge fan base that really enjoys it and spends lots of time playing related games, rewatching movies, and other things they invest their time in. They including myself get really excited and can't wait for each new release. When a blockbuster movie is made they expect a certain level of quality. When that is not met they deserve to express themselves IMO. Now had RJ made a completely original movie and people didn't like it I think they should just say hey it's a bad movie and move on. But when it's Star Wars and you make the creative decisions he did he should get some serious heat for it. 5 different directors have worked in this franchise for the major releases and none of them messed up anywhere any remotely close to him. The Petition is just another method of expression. I personally think Johnson needs to look at his movie and really think about its criticism it could help him grow as an artist. Directors never admit their work didn't pan out until after the movie stops making a certain amount of money. Steven Spielberg wouldn't admit IJ4 was less than perfect until years after it's release and even then he blamed it on Lucas's writing stating he directed to the script with best of his ability. Neil Blomkamp didn't admit Chappie had serious issues until 2 years after it's release. A petition is just another way to get his attention. That's the only objective. What I don't get is that I liked Looper and really enjoyed his breaking bad episodes. I know there are people who aren't fans of those but I would say most of his work is relatively well reviewed. Why do you think TLJ is so bad compared to his other work? Ah so it's not Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad level good? I'm not a big TV fan I really only like a hand full of shows Thrones BB, Lost, Stranger Things, Better Call Saul. No. Here is an honest review that nails all the problems with TLJ. It's not just men hating it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttOoEbj0VL4&feature=youtu.be Truth! He didn't just sell Star Wars. He sold his company and all the rights to his creations with KK taking his place as CEO. Yes, money is a big deal but Lucas was already rich and had a steady cash flow. He retired because he's in his 70's and has young children and wants to live out his next 20 years or so in peace and not have the constant stress of running several companies along with monitoring movies, games, and other projects. He wants to be a rich guy and do what makes him happy and I can't see why anybody would blame him. I would say the Prequels took everything he had left out of him. After writing, directing, and producing that trilogy he was out of steam.. why do you think he made the last two almost entirely in a studio? He didn't want to travel and deal with shooting locations, production problems, weather, hot-headed actors, and the thousands of issues that come with making a blockbuster film. On top of that, he had constant negativity thrown in his face after releasing his movies. A day and age where it's hard to hide from that sort of thing. Why didn't he have other people write and direct his movies for him? That wouldn't alleviate all the stress I would say that would only be 20-40% of the actual work he would have to do as not a producer but as the CEO of the studio producing. He's also a power hog and would clash with other writers, directors, and producers (remember he fired Gary Kurtz a long time friend and partner) that's why he did the PT on his own for the most part. He offered his creative service to Disney and after a couple of months and the fact that they threw out his outline he realized they were not going to make the movies he wanted to be made so he left. He related it to a break-up. In addition, he insured his company and employees survival for the most part. I doubt JJ picks up E9 directly after TLJ ends. A 10-year gap or so. Enough time for some changes to take place because there isn't anything interesting to pick up on after TLJ. Not a chance. Jumanji is doing well because its the only movie out that appeals to a wide audience including especially teenagers who are the primary movie-going crowd. Comedy has a broad audience Action has a broad audience Kevin Hart and the Rock are 2 of the most well-known celebrities and actor's in their prospective fields Jumanji is a by the numbers make as much money as you can movie. Jumanji is quite awful tho, I'm very surprised by the positive reaction it's getting... but that's just my opinion. Oh, there's no excuse for Jar Jar lol. I was just stating he was Intended for children, not adults. I will say the technology used to bring him to the screen was groundbreaking. Nothing like that can be said about RJ's TLJ. Also, add in that Jar Jar was specifically a character for children to enjoy and they did. Adults were never meant to find him funny. Not even Seal-Penguins (Porgs) Dog horses (faier or whatever) fish nuns, or sea cow milking? Not enough? How about cartoon villians, hyperspace bullets, and shirtless kylos? Still not enough?? How about rich people are bad, we shouldn't fight what we hate, or death by force projection? More you say? How about space bombers, Mary space poppins, and plastic red army men? My reaction was... why is he dead? Did the force projection kill him? Also why did he throw his life away so 10 rebels could escape? Would have rather seen Luke in an actual light saber fight instead of a force projection trick that's apparently a suicide effort. At the same time it was really nice send off with the music and sunset... But I think they could have done it better. Could have all been avoided if Walt had eased his pride and taken his rich friends offer of a high paying job and insurance that would cover his treatment. I agree with you for the most part. Jesse's character did change a little after season one which made Gale's murder seem like it impacted him more than it should have considering he was not a stranger to these kind of things. I would credit that the producers originally had Jesse dieing off very early but were so impressed by the actor that they made him a core character. However, I will argue that Jesse didn't have any interest in killing K-8 he wanted him dead sure because he knew that K-8 would def kill them if were to be freed. But I had always doubted he could actually go threw with it himself. He was extremely relieved after the coin flip. He was freaking out after he realized that the gas wasn't going to kill K-8. Had Walt not been involved he wouldn't have lasted very long he wouldn't have been able to kill K-8 and would have never been able to depose of the dead body. Police would have caught on to Jesse quickly, shoot the only reason he wasn't in jail to begin with was because he happened to be banging the neighbor woman while the DEA raided his operation that Walt witnessed. About Tuco, Jesse was just trying to live he was sure he was seconds from death and even then he doesn't do anything that actually kills Tuco and stands down the second that Tuco is no longer a direct threat to his life. Tuco was adrenaline and self defense. While Gale was a guy that had never harmed Jesse and he killed him straight up. Big difference between the 2 situations. I would argue Gale was Jesse's first direct murder. Not only that but it was the first person Jesse killed that wasn't already trying to kill him directly. I guess I relate this to Band of Brother where one of the characters is traumatized by killing an unarmed German. Even tho he had shot and killed dozens of soldiers before this it was the fact that he killed a man who directly posed no threat to him but knew he had to anyway. A person they killed who wasn't directly trying to kill them. The movies are actually marvels for what they achieved for the reported 90-100 million per film. I actually had a lot of respect for Jackson because he was able to deliver such great epic movies on a modest budget. Then he turned into George Lucas Jr and would only make movies with 200M+ budgets and do it all sitting in a studio behind a computer. Newline studios was also a small company for a project this size. They didn't even have the ability to distribute the film internationally. They had to sell those rights to other distributors and took a much smaller percentage in the long run. At first they only had enough money to do 2 films but found some investors that made it possible to fund a trilogy filmed back to back. The pre-production on these movies is exceptional. Nothing has ever matched the amount of prep work done for a movie.
