He said he will take it "elsewhere"... so maybe it will involve time travel or even the island from "Lost" :) https://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/2017/10/j-j-abrams-episode-ix-will-go-elsewhere-with-franchise-prequels-will-be-referenced.html If she is a nobody, then what's the point of this TFA trailer and the passing of the torch (lightsaber) forward... I disagree. The Luke in TLJ is not the one we know and love from the OT. Johnson's script performed a character assassination even before we see Luke die. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnzFhjrm9y8 It was probably a hint given to the audience so that some will predict it's not really Luke. As long as the movies make tons of money, they don't really care if the fans love them or not. Suspension of disbelief is what sells your fantasy to the audience. If your audience thinks it's stupid, they will never believe in your story and thus never enjoy the storytelling. Just another proof of the power of brand recognition. People will flock to see it, even if it's utter crap. Let's hope that will not be true for Episode IX. He got sick from the awful screenplay and lost the will to act. ;) Prequel haters are the reason why the franchise is so fucked up lately. Prequels were decent enough, at least they had a proper story and plotlines that made sense and linked perfectly to the OT. Maybe J.J. will just hire Damon Lindelof and involve some time travel to negate Episode VIII altogether? Pull another Kelvin timeline? Hey, it worked with Star Trek. :D I'm willing to bet Colin Trevorow had a dispute with Kathleen Kennedy about the Episode VIII script (he probably said Episode VIII was crap) and he was fired because of that, and not because his script was worse, since it can't possible be worse, even if it included dinosaurs instead of AT-ATs. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ed9D83xa9uI Funny, I thought that was jam... ;) https://media.giphy.com/media/Th4AQKBJ9QzbW/giphy.gif
Kennedy, Johnson, and old time fans like myself apparently get what Star Wars is and should be about.
Are you saying Star Wars never needed a decent story and plotlines? Because that's what most of the fans are complaining about. Movie making = story telling. Same here. I'm 47 Still a better story than TLJ. :) Totally agree, but unfortunately lots of people are still going to pay money to see it... and that's only what matters to Disney. Unfortunately, Jar Jar Abrams is known for not resolving his own mysteries - he just uses them to spark interest and never answers any questions... I wish I was wrong, but I think we will never get to know anything tangible, since the back story was never imagined by anyone. Star Wars IX - The revenge of the Sue
