...It's as if they're intentionally trying to destroy Star Wars as we know it, kills its lore, kill its characters and bastardize it into something it was never meant to be.
Yeah, what are the odds of this "unrelated Star Wars trilogy by Rian Johnson" happening now? After this Last Jedi turd? Outlook not good.
Thanks Kennedy/Johnson for destroying Star Wars. Lucas was better. Yes, even Phantom Menace was better.
It's been said many times, many ways. It's an unoriginal copy of ANH. You understand, they could have invented new enemies or taken them from EU (like yuuzhan vong), but instead they basically chose to repeat the same old story, rendering everything achieved in OT pointless. They could have introduced a new republic or galaxy of many republics, unions, federations, imperial factions etc., but they chose to go with most boring plot. J.J.Abrams is a cheap hack.
i think after the prequels they wanted to play it safe and i dont blame them , after TLJ ive changed my tune a bit and i kind of wish they would of based it in the Thrawn trilogy , that would of been difficult as they were 5 years after ROTJ.
TLJ is a result of trying to be new and unique, id rather have a safe star wars thats good, than one that tries to be new but misses the target ala prequels and TLJ, its no wonder people think TFA and Rogue one are successful highly entertaining Star wars films.
Couldn't agree more. Kennedy is easily the worse of these two evils. But with as much power as she wields, I doubt we'll ever see here gone until she retires, unfortunately.
Hopefully the tremendous backlash this POS movie is receiving is the beginning of her downfall
I agree fully. In fact I want ALL Star Wars material written after the Disney purchase to be de-canonized, and unfortunately this would also mean the decent book: Bloodline, but hey, what needs to be done to save Star Wars needs to be done.
Well yeah, all Disney had to do was work with the template already given. Instead they trashed the Expanded Universe. Like I said in the other thread, imagine if this new trilogy was based on the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, where the New Republic and the Imperial Remnant were forced to band together to save the galaxy from annihilation? Now that would be an epic trilogy to enjoy. (perhaps without the killing off of Chewbacca, of course).
And most of all - original. No matter how iconic the stormtroopers as enemies are, for once seeing them fighting against other baddies would be somewhat refreshing.
Well I must say dturd6 that your continued descent into total butt-hurt meltdown has totally brightened my holiday spirit... in fact even though I originally had no intention on seeing this new Star Wars movie, I think I'll be changing my plans and go see it with my brother and his wife on Christmas as a token of my appreciation to Kennedy and Johnson for not only ruining your Christmas plans but for destroying Star Wars for you.
Given the fact that Justice League won't even make HALF of what Avengers made FIVE years ago, you should really consider paying to see your Justice League instead. Throw the starving little flop a bone--give it at least SOME dignity. It can't be easy for DC to have their own equivalent to "The Avengers" not even make as much money as one of Marvel's Z-lister superhero movies. ;)
Yeah...we both know who the butthurt one is here, chief. :D
Given the fantastic reviews this film is getting. . .
Given the buckets of cash it will bring in. . .
Given that the whining of idiots on the internet has no effect on reality at all. . .
And last, given the people in charge are pretty smart. . .
. . .this moronic wish of you and other butthurt losers will never come true. Quite the opposite actually. And this long time Star Wars fan from the age of 14 when the first one came out can't be happier.
Kennedy, Johnson, and old time fans like myself apparently get what Star Wars is and should be about. You simply do not. It is that simple.

Are you saying Star Wars never needed a decent story and plotlines? Because that's what most of the fans are complaining about. Movie making = story telling.

The movie has its flaws, but I have yet to see an intelligent complaint from a single fan that would justify condemning the film or thinking it sucked. All I see is whining from people who seem to have the collective insight of a swarm of gnats.
Johnson is the best thing to have happened to the franchise since Kasdan became involved. Kennedy and the other powers that be recognized this, which is why he will be the future of Star Wars. Grow up and deal with it.
frist of all, I do not think TLJ sucked but the opening joke about Poe not hearing Hux then "putting him on hold" basically took me out of the film. The Star Wars universe is not our universe and should be treated as such, meaning a pop-culture type reference should be left out.
The real problem that I had with the film was how characters never communicated with each other. The Generals had a plan in place and purposefully did not tell Poe. Poe had an idea and purposefully went behind the general's backs to implement it on his own. Finn and Rose left the fleet to go the Casino planet to get the code breaker without telling anyone.
Rian Johnson wrote it this way intentionally, most likely because he didn't care about putting the work to get it all to work cohesively. It was easier for him to have the characters just ignore everyone else than to come up with a discussion where things are actually discussed.

The writing reminded me of a romantic comedy where things would have been a lot smoother if people just talked to each other instead of hiding things from everyone.
So Star Wars is suppose to be about cartoon villains, forced comedy, a story that purposefully goes nowhere, and milking sea cows?
I personally have no issues with Kennedy. I think she is doing the best she can. Making good Star Wars movies is the toughest thing imaginable even Lucas himself couldn't pull it off. JJ as well did an amazing job with TFA. That was a suicide mission and he actually pulled it off. Something Spielberg couldn't do with Indiana Jones.
Rian Johnson on the other hand. Needs to stay away from all things Star Wars from now on. That dude is a miserable piece of crap and purposefully made the first truly bad star wars movie that couldn't be enjoyed by anybody other than 15 year old Marvel fans.

Thankfully, this ridiculous opinion is one of a loud, meaningless, powerless minority. Johnson will rightfully be the future of Star Wars. Grow up and deal with it.
The problem i have is that it pretty much tore down everything TFA set up, huge fan of TFA and grew up on the originals and it captured the essence of star wars perfectly, like wise with Rogue one. If Stanley Kubrick made a star wars film, TLJ is what he would make, its ok but it doesnt feel like a star wars film , the jokes , the lack of dog fights, the waiting around of the ship to run out of fuel , the astral projection, killing Snoke before we know who he is and where hes come from , Rey just being some random , doesnt really leave alot of maneuver for Episode 9 , just glad JJ is back.
I believe that they are just following orders by the Leftist pseudo-Zionist/Globalist Elite of Hollywood like Spielberg and all Disney leaders and they will never get fired cause they are making a great job following these orders and promoting cultural Neomarxism and destroying the Saga.TLJ is a total shit as a film
Agreed with the above. Felt like a stab in the back and a total joke. I’m stopping at Force Awakens. I can’t have TLJ Luke in my mind, it’s too depressing.
