I had the same thought. It looked chaotic, but hopefully the film will be more nuanced.
Seems weird that those involved bad mouthed all the old sequels and seem to have pretty much copied them.
I'd agree with that - I really liked the first two, but this one was a bit of a haphazard mess.
Aram is a great character too.
I thought this but when that's introduced as a 'theme' in Jaws 2, Brody acts like it's entirely new information to him.
Same. I watched this movie a couple weeks back and was shocked she was only 17, I thought 22-24ish.
I guess there could also have been all manner of mangled steel beneath the surface as well.
I watched it for the first time in decades today having caught the original on TV last week.
Flipping from one to the other, Grease 2 looks quite low budget (like an episode of Fame) and just lacks that professional gloss of the first one: The acting is more 'stagey', the songs weren't particularly memorable or well produced, and the cast not as good vocalists at the first time around. This was most obvious in the 'Girl for All Seasons' song where the sound mastering dropped away, making the vocals sound like they've 'shrunk' in volume (the 'ah-ah-aaaah' parts into the next line). Though that was the best song otherwise.
It killed a couple hours though, so wasn't a total write off, just suffered from the standard we've-been-here-before curse of most sequels.
I assume she just inserted herself into the life of the one who was more receptive (or naive) when she transferred to Pendleton.

Still one of the best looking teen slasher films around, really great casting too.
Definitely. The mid-to-late 90s (up to 9/11, pretty much) were a very positive, progressive time. Probably wasn't paying enough attention, but on the surface everyone seemed quite peacefully stable and tolerant.

I think so - in the books at least - they sensibly played it down for the movies though as it's a bit deranged.

This is literally why I love it - it's so damn ridiculous.
It was originally scripted to be set in the winter but the shooting schedule was moved (probably to get a quicker release before the teen slasher trend petered out) and I can only guess they just couldn't come up with anything better by that point.
Fringe had the humor Debris is sorely lacking.
It's all well made but after two episodes I just don't care about any of it.
Not in the movies, but in the book of Jaws 2 the shark is female and pregnant and it says she mated with a shark "equal to her in size and power" years earlier.
So... maybe she already had his puppies in the interim and one of them was the Jaws: The Revenge shark? I read The Revenge book once years ago but remember nothing apart from more people getting chomped and a better explanation of the voodoo 'curse' on the Brody family.
Jaws III is non-canon.
Considering the movie as a whole, I really like that they did that, alluding to her becoming friends with the Brodys (or at least Ellen) in later years, possibly realising that her son's death was never Martin's fault. It gives a nice sense of continuity between 1, 2 and 4.
You could almost be fooled into thinking the film was going to be thought provoking and decent before the shift to the Bahamas.

2. Unsure - charity work I guess. I hear Princess Anne is the nicest and most charitably active member.
3. Diana was ADORED and that had the knock on effect of casting the likes of Fergie in her shadow; same for Meghan I would guess. Diana was the heartbreak heroine, very quiet and shy, whereas subsequent high-profile female figures have been a little more confident and outspoken, which clashes with the ideals of the Murdoch media.
I watched the first three this week - I still really enjoy this one, but it seems to be lacking the same sense of grand adventure 1&2 had, possibly because it's a good 30 minutes shorter, and it's almost entirely set on the island with shorter, punchier action sequences.
Where *is* Liz as well? Did Megan Boone take time off?
