Deep Thought
If you respect the country then you also have to respect the constitution. Fetishing a song or a piece of cloth, without even understanding what it even stands for is not patriotic, that is nationalism.
They died to protect our freedoms, such as freedom of speech.
not to protect a song.
Kneeling is a posture of respect and deference, this is universal and worldwide. They aren't sitting there giving the finger to the flag, they are kneeling.
This is a dog whistle issue for trumpists just to distract from the real things going on.
Yeah I had not thought if the date in the story world, it was Halloween in our world but it must be at least after June in the show world because there have been 2 elections- the 2016 presidential election and then the city council election.
A flashback would have been an easy way around that. Maybe have Kai's parent's ghosts visit him. Halloween would also be an exception to the 'no supernatural' elements this season because they could have made it ambiguous like is it really a ghost or is it just Kai's mental illness, if he's the only one who sees the ghosts.

Yes I think there was a werewolf, lots of ghosts, a witch. A sort of Frankenstein monster thing (man made monster).
Depends on the crime. I agree that pedophiles are very prone to re-offend. But there are all kinds of crimes and sometimes what we call a 'crime' is almost arbitrary. There are people in prison for long sentences for selling pot, before it became legal here. (California) It's legal now.
I don't think they deserved long sentences to begin with but there were mandatory minimums and 3 strikes laws and stuff, as well as discriminatory enforcement.
Martha Stewart is an ex-con. is she a danger to society?
I am disappointed. Episode 9 aired on Halloween night and they didn't do their usual Halloween special episode with dead people coming to visit. Instead of stupid archival footage of Jim Jones, they could have had Jim's ghost visiting.
This season has had no supernatural elements at all, only human monsters. Kind of bored by now.
I was a toddler when the show first started in 1966 but I must have gotten into it a year or two later. It ran to 1971 and I would have been 7 at the time, so I was really not the target audience but I fricken loved that show. My best friend's parent's wouldn't let her watch it so she came over to my house after school and watched it at my house. I think it was on at 4 pm. Most kids would go home and watch cartoons and we came home to watch Dark Shadows. I feel like it had a formative impact on me.
I named my barbies after the characters because they had such beautiful names. Roxanne. Angelique. Josette.

Dark Shadows was really in it's own category. It was a daytime melodrama (soap opera) that ran 5 days of the week, but it was gothic/horror/mystery. Not a standard soap and not a standard horror movie, more like a hybrid that explored pretty unusual storylines like time travel and parallel universe. Because it was on every day, they had a very short rehearsal and shooting schedule so it does not have cinematic production values. Most scenes were probably done in one take. It was shot on videotape, not on film. The first couple years were black and white. It was low budget for the supernatural genre, and that causes it to feel somewhat dated and cheesy. Unfortunately the movie with Johnny Depp just played up that vintage cheesy 70's vibe which is sad because it misses the dark romantic vibe which is really what I remember it for. Barnabus Collins (played by Jonathan Frid) was a huge heartthrob at the time, you would see him in the teen magazines alongside The Monkees and David Cassidy!
There were a couple of Dark Shadows movies, a lot of paperback novels, a board game.
The vampire character did not turn up until like 10 months into the show, so if you want to try it I would say don't necessarily watch it from the beginning. Start with the episode when Barnabus appears.
Yes, but it is easier for arts like music, film directing, writers, painters, etc. Because then you can see the art (or hear it) without seeing their face.
With actors it is harder because you see the person and if you hate them enough, then just their face will trigger that hate..
Ennio Morricone all day erry day
2. Henry Mancini
3. Bernard Herrmann
Mr. Spock from ST:TOS
Barnabus Collins from Dark Shadows
Yup, aliens and vampires, tall dark & brooding. That is still my type, LOL.
YUP.
I'm going as Melisandre from G.O.T. (with magic necklace, not the 400 year old hag Mel)
The night is dark and full of terrors.
I like seeing all types of love too, but unfortunately in this show, most of the gay relationships are not good examples for the rest of straight america to see. The show makes gay people look freakish and dangerous. Like having gimps tied up in the attic or having weird incestuous 3-somes. Ally was one of the few non-freak gay characters, but now she's one of the freaks too. Maybe she is just undercover to get her son back and then she'll kill the cult.
YUP! Tomorrow night. At my neighbors house so I can get wasted and not worry about driving home. Haha.
There will be shots and watching of the David S. Pumpkins animated special. Every time he says 'ANY QUESTIONS', take a shot!
And the skeletons are?
PART OF IT!
I still have the AC on. It's been roasting hot this week. Indian Summer. (SF bay area, CA)
I would LOVE a nice crisp cool fall day.
Who was that cult guy that killed all his members to get them beamed up to the alien ship that was coming? I think they also drank poisoned Koolaid and they were all found dressed alike laying in bunk beds.
OH yeah- Heaven's Gate!
Heaven's Gate was an American UFO religious millenarian group based in San Diego, California, founded in 1974 and led by Marshall Applewhite (1931–1997) and Bonnie Nettles (1927–1985). On March 26, 1997, police discovered the bodies of thirty-nine members of the group who had participated in a mass suicide in order to reach what they believed was an extraterrestrial spacecraft following Comet Hale–Bopp.
