Oh! Please use the subtitles if you're having trouble with the accents! They are speaking English, you know, but they're hard to follow sometimes! I had the same feeling about this movie. It started out so promising. John Cusack and Samuel L Jackson had this great discussion, the dialogue was very good. The premise was an oldie but a goodie with just the right "twists" to make it interesting. Then about 2/3 through, it was like the writer quit and they had to figure out a way to wrap it up. Dreadful ending. It was a waste of some very good actors and some terrific earlier scenes. Maybe money was tight? 6/10 Oh good! I'm a big fan of In Bruges. I'm a really big fan of Brendan Gleeson's ever since I saw The General, the John Boorman movie. I created a post on the page. Please, come join our discussion! Hey Dewey! I put it on the other page where our picks are. Thanks for the encouragement! Hope you like it. It's Six Shooter by Martin McDonagh. He's dark, but funny. Hello fellow At The Movies contributors! Mina let me know that it was my turn to pick the movie. I found something short, less than 30 minutes. My pick is SIX SHOOTER (2004). It's available on YouTube. It's a live action short from Martin McDonagh. He won an Oscar for it in 2006. I like it very much and I hope you do too! I'm not sure how to create a link for it but if you put the title followed by the year, it will certainly pop up on YouTube. Hi Mina! I've heard from other people too that they couldn't PM me. I'm not sure why. I did write an email to Jim but I guess it never got fixed. Would it be appropriate to pick a short film? That way it won't be too hard for some people to find the time. No way! This is mine too! I always thought she was saying, Hush, hush, even down south, it's so scary! It never made sense to me. I didn't find out till years later what the real lyrics were. Yeah! It's such a funny movie. Jeanine and Nigel have the same haircut. Yes! Oh! Sit right back and you'll hear a tale! And that's the way they all became the Brady Bunch! I think I'll remember those songs forever! Yes! It lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. Mary Tyler Moore Show-Who can turn the world on with her smile? Miss Margo, I watched the first episode-excellent! I love Ken Burns, he's an amazing documentarian. The Civil War is a masterpiece. I haven't had time to go on to watch the rest but I'll try catching up in a few weeks or so. Can you believe that an American doctor saved Ho Chi Min's life during WWII? I need to rewatch it though, I missed a lot of the explanation of French Colonialism. That WWII period is sort of confusing. Maybe those questions were answered in part 2 and I haven't seen it yet, so... I'm with you Leia, it would be Game of Thrones for me too. I loved The Wire too. I never watched it when it first came out. I had to wait for the DVDs from Netflix. Stayed up very late bingeing on that show. Tie: GoT, The Wire. SPOILERS AHEAD I think you'll like it. I liked all the films you mentioned above and liked Mother!, I didn't understand what was going on at first but I copped on at about 15 minutes into the movie. It is a Genesis/Bible allegory. What's brilliant is that Aronofsky captures that weird feeling when you're reading the Bible. It's that the stories are wild and don't make a great deal of sense. The protagonist we can most easily identify with is Jennifer Lawrence's character, Mother, although in the movie, no character is given a name. She is the Virgin Mary. That's why she looks like this in the movie poster. She's an idealized woman in all respects. She is married to God. I better not say anymore, but the images in the movie are terrifying and fascinating. I'd love to hear the director talk about some of the choices he made. The cast is superb with many short appearances of some great actors. 7/10 Did you see this movie? Did you like it? I'm pretty disappointed to read all these negative things on here. This looked promising in the previews. I was hoping for a good movie. The cast is great. Yes, she hated it. He was a very nice man. He wasn't funny and he didn't make any jokes, probably because my friend warned him not to. He had zero creep factor. We were teenagers, you know how that goes. My dad used to wear sandals with socks and I was mortified! I always did want to ask lots of questions about his job but it was a sore subject so I never did. I love going to the movie theater. My husband and I probably go to four or five movies a month. I have a group of friends and we go to see movies together. We do that about every two months or so. I really prefer seeing a movie at the theater. I like everything about it. I like all the people, the popcorn, the big screen, and there are no distractions. I do think there's much less variety in what's available to watch. I love foreign films but if I can't catch them in the first two weeks, Poof! They are gone. Theaters don't have the luxury of letting duds stick around to get popular. I wanted to see The Red Turtle very badly but I think it was out for like a week before they dropped it. I hate that because there are some movies that benefit so much from the theater screening, especially comedies. It's so much fun to laugh with a big group of people. Yes, that dad is atrocious. I must be lucky. I only have two clowns. I also get poor Brendan Fraser who no one will hire. My fourth is a man named Eric Andre, I have no idea who that is. A girl I knew growing up had a father who was a professional clown. She kept it a secret but they had some kind trade journal at their house like "Clown Town" (I can't remember the name). That's how I found out her dad was a clown. It was a big secret because she got teased a lot in grammar school. Yes! That accent! I feel so sorry for Muriel's mom. She's so sweet and everyone is so mean to her.
