Is this movie any good?
If I enjoyed Aronofsky's previous works like Pi, Requiem for a Dream and Black Swan, will I like this?

shareI expect you will then. It followed what to me has become a pretty familiar Aronofskian formula (which I enjoy). Namely, it builds tension steadily throughout the run time, continually upping the ante to a point that finally feels uncomfortable and slightly "out of control" before reaching its crescendo.
shareIt's sort of a middle of the road film. The first half is pretty good (sort of a dark comedy) but then the second half turns into kind of a mess overall.
I'm trying to go for an engaging, funny youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance. A review of the movie here-https://youtu.be/NVoWkfpcMs8
SPOILERS AHEAD
I think you'll like it. I liked all the films you mentioned above and liked Mother!, I didn't understand what was going on at first but I copped on at about 15 minutes into the movie. It is a Genesis/Bible allegory. What's brilliant is that Aronofsky captures that weird feeling when you're reading the Bible. It's that the stories are wild and don't make a great deal of sense. The protagonist we can most easily identify with is Jennifer Lawrence's character, Mother, although in the movie, no character is given a name. She is the Virgin Mary. That's why she looks like this in the movie poster. She's an idealized woman in all respects. She is married to God. I better not say anymore, but the images in the movie are terrifying and fascinating. I'd love to hear the director talk about some of the choices he made. The cast is superb with many short appearances of some great actors. 7/10
