What are some things you didn't like about this movie? *spoiler warning*

Even the best movies can have their flaws. With that said, is there anything you didn't like about this movie or that you had a complaint about? Just curious. I thought the ending with the girl being alive felt like kind of a cop-out. It felt kind of forced, but the main character was really tragic anyway and deserved a happy ending. So I don't know.

Also, I've noticed some people mentioned the girl having a weird black thing on her neck at the end when we see her in the hospital. I guess it's easy to miss things like that on your first viewing, lol. I didn't notice at all. Guess that could explain her being alive. That aside, there's really nothing else I dislike about the movie.

Honestly?? I haven't seen this, but based on the super stellar reviews, I wouldn't want to be THAT guy to give it the 1st bad review cause Twitter, er, I mean "X" would crucify you for it right down to the Subtitles.. I'm sure it's very good and I will hold out for the Blu Ray/DVD.. In the meantime, I watched GMK: Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah in ALL OUT MONSTERS ATTACK, a grossly underrated movie you hardly hear mentioned and it too is in Subtitles and it's Fantastic, though it should be noted, the roles are reversed in this movie and it's Godzilla who's the bad guy and it's up to BARAGORN(Who gets roasted early) Mothra and Ghidorah to stop Godzilla and it'll take Ghidorah to become King Ghidorah to do it..

Yep, pretty much.

And it's not just Twitter, but Reddit as well, etc. When it comes to popular and well liked movies/TV/games, if you dare to criticize it (even if those criticisms are legit), you'll get told 100 reasons why your opinion is wrong and that you should feel like the scum of the Earth. I remember a friend of mine going on Twitter and talking about why she didn't like Kingdom Hearts 3. She never said it was the worst game ever, just that she had some problems with the story and worlds. People got *so* mad and roasted her like a turkey on Thanksgiving, lol. Like, just calm down.

Noriko never got naked. They couldn’t insert at least one shower scene?

Kidding. Kind of.

Only part I didn’t like was Koichi getting all weepy in the hospital scene. He should have been stronger and showed happiness to see Noriko was alive.

Then he should have taken the little girl to see that her ”mom” was alive. Instead, he basically pushes the girl away so he can cry on Noriko’s bed. It was ridiculous.

He selfishly made it about himself instead of a happy reunion between the three of them.

Even Noriko had an awkward look on her face like, “Geez! Really, dude? Grow up you little bitch.”

The young daughter makes no reaction at all to seeing her long lost mother. Then she disappears from the scene. Yeah, that was odd.

Racial diversity always makes a film better. This one really lacked it. Very disappointing

reply

It's a Yellow supremacist movie!

reply

I think the blackmark on the neck is supposed to be an indication of radiation sickness from Godzilla's heat ray.

One flaw was not explaining how Godzilla got so much larger (10 x at least) from his initial appearance on Odo Island to later in the movie. Maybe I missed it.

reply

Didn't they show a scene of the atomic bomb tests that were conducted in the South Pacific? I think the implication was that the radiation from those tests caused him to grow larger and develop the ability to breath atomic fire, both very common side effects from exposure to radiation.

reply

Yes, this happened often to the survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki... 🙄

reply

I think it's pretty safe to assume the explosion from the Americans testing of Operation Crossroads is self-explanatory.

reply

I watched the film again last night and was looking for something that explained his huge growth, and I found it!
At one point in the film, it is shown the atomic testing happening and there is a quick shot of Godzilla staring to mutate in the ocean. It is quick, only about a couple of seconds, but it's there.

This movie is good but way overrated.

The pace was not very good many times. The characters story dragged a lot many times. It felt kind of uninteresting and rather boring.

reply

Too bad. In the view of many, this was the best Kaiju movie ever made. But, it's okay if you didn't get it. To each their own.

reply

Too bad for you. You have terrible taste.

This movie is absolutely irrelevant and boring for the vast majority of people.

But it's okay if you didn't get it. To each their own.

reply

You said "This movie is absolutely irrelevant and boring for the vast majority of people". Personally, I don't think so.

In your initial post, you said the movie is good but way overrated. Then you say it is irrelevant and boring.
Which is it?
You know what I think? I think you are one of those people who come on these boards to get a reaction out of people.
You are one of those people who hide behind their computer and think it's fun to pick fights.
I have more to do in my life than to deal with people like you.
*hits ignore*

reply

You are an epic loser and a massive troll.

YOU are the one who wanted to pick a fight. You are a hytserical clown.

This movie is boring and irrelevant. Now cry me a river!

LMAO!

reply

That name calling is sure impressive. Really adds to your argument...

reply

He insulted me first.

Nice try. You just failed.

reply

Anybody who uses the word "irrelevant" when discussing a movie is a clown.

reply

That's because you are an irrelevant clown.

reply

The story was excellent. I assume you wanna see Godzilla wrecking havoc in every scene, since it's a Godzilla movie?

reply

The story was not excellent at all.

I don't want just mindless action, story is important, but dragging with boring dialogue is annoying.

They could have had cut out many parts.

reply

Having no other monsters for Godzilla to fight hurt this movie.

reply

100%

Even though I really liked it, I'm not sure why people are hailing it as some flawless masterpiece. Some of the pacing is really off. The editing is pretty mediocre at times too, especially when Godzilla just appears out of nowhere to swallow that ship. I actually thought I missed something when that happened. The last 30 seconds are FUCKING AWFUL though, and nobody seems to care. That girl coming back with a bandage over her eye but otherwise completely flawless skin is such a middle finger. It felt straight out of a bad TV soap opera. And not to mention that corny ass "uh oh, Godzilla still might be alive!" stinger. Shin Gojira is a lot better, even though I'd give this a 7 or 8/10. Even some of the older Godzilla movies are better.

I enjoyed the movie, but I completely agree with you about how cheesy the ending scene was with the girl surviving. You describing it as a "bad TV soap opera" is pretty accurate lol. For me, the lighting and vibe of that scene actually reminded me of a few foreign sappy melodramatic Korean commercials I've seen on YouTube, lol. I'm not even kidding.

reply

Godzilla Minus One might has its flaws but it's way better than Shin Godzilla.

Shin Godzilla is entertaining but really stupid many times. The Godzilla looks laughable in it.

reply

I honestly thought Godzilla looked really fake in this. Like an "action figure". Totally lifeless. Also, how the ships accelerated so fast was beyond unrealistic.

reply

Godzilla looked way more realistic in Godzilla Minus One than Shin Godzilla.

Shin Godzilla looked awful.

reply

I haven't seen Shin Godzilla.

reply

You have to try it. It's an etnertaining movie with an excellent soundtrack.

reply

The pacing was a little off. A lot of down time in between some action scenes.
Also, the way Godzilla moved like a statue. I know they're paying tribute to the old movies but still.

reply

That's smart pacing. Calm time between action scenes is necessary for contrast. Otherwise, it's just all chasing and fighting like a mindless Tom and Jerry cartoon. Cartoons are six minutes long for a reason. Two hours of relentless action is exhausting and, ultimately, boring.
