Was The Matrix a fluke?
I mean, the Wachowski's have never made a movie half as good before or since. And i'm pretty certain this won't be comparable in quality either.

shareTHERE IS ONLY ONE FIRST SHOT...GETS EVERYONES ATTENTION...EVERY TRIGGER PULL AFTE R THAT IS JUST MORE GUNFIRE.
shareIt’s possible that the studio told them to reign in the dialogue and keep it lean, creating a healthy creative tension, then they were off the leash for the sequels and other bloated efforts like Cloud Atlas - all of which have great moments but don’t have the narrative flow of The Matrix.
may very well be with all the flops most studios had to deal with recently. star wars being the most prominent one. I'm of OPs opinion as well.
Also, I only recently learned they transitioned when it already happened in 2008 and ?2016?. added on top of that they claim Matrix a transgender story. fun times
The whole ‘Matrix is a transgender story’ is just the Wachowskis trying to retrofit their past work with the current woke agenda, and may well stem from them secretly regretting throwing their dicks away and overcompensating.
shareIT'S MA'AM
this should be treated as a mental disorder akin to a recovering alcoholic: as much as you want it to, you will never be a woman :S
RT -- I Want My Sex Back: Transgender people who regretted changing sex (RT Documentary) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pxxBQm114k
but I suspect their estrogen infused lifestyle will negatively impact Matrix 4. To start with: Morpheus is out
Yep. This is the Wachowski brothers, once great filmmakers who fell into Hollyweird and came out the other end with no dicks, sucking the blood out of their old masterpiece to justify their self-mutilation and hopefully make some coin.
There is some truth to that.
Restrictions/limitations often lead to greater creative works.
V for Vendetta has a narrative flow as good as the Matrix, and they were the Wachowskis the ones who wrote the script.

Reign in the dialog?? Da hell you talkin bout lol. The arctitect was the quentisential manifistation of the Wachoskis saying look at how much fancy words we know lol.
shareReloaded was good too.
sharev funny.
7.2 IMDB score. 7.3 Rotten Tomatoes score. The highest grossing R-rated flick (at that time).
sharei suppose it was serviceable , but it was just another helping of the same action scenes , added nothing to the story - as the story was over , except a load of incomprehensible bollocks
same goes for #3
I think this sums it up excellently:

" added nothing to the story"
That's simply not true. You don't have to like it, but a lot more is added to the mythology of the Matrix in the sequels.
Their mental illness (gender identity disorder) no doubt affected their creative output.
shareThat is a probably a safe bet. Outside of the Matrix movies (where only the first one was very good), all of the big movies they directed lost a lot of money (Speed Racer, Cloud Atlas, Jupiter Ascending). I guess with the Matrix they got lucky and caught lightning in a bottle.
Yes it was.
shareV For Vendetta is pretty awesome from what I remember and Bound has a strong cult following; though I've never seen it.
shareV for Vendetta wasn't directed by them, only written.
shareDoes it not count if they wrote it? Star Wars is considered Lucas' baby even though he only directed 1 out of the original 3. Why does directing carry more weight than writing?
shareIt's not the same thing. Lucas wrote and directed the original which started it all, and had major creative control over the sequels too. V for Vendetta isn't even their brainchild, it's based on a graphic novel.
shareWriters create a story. Directors just mold it.
Are TESB and ROTJ not Lucas movies because he didn't direct them?
All movies are different, and the work involved in them varies.
The Star Wars universe can be considered a huge feat because it was written from zero, and it became a huge and complex universe.
V for Vendetta is a graphic novel that was placed in a script. Not saying it's an irrelevant work, but it's clearly not the same.
When you think of TESB, ROTJ, and V do you think of Lucas and the Wachowski's or Kirshner, Marquand, and James McTeigue? Whose movies are they?
Are you saying TESB are Lucas' movies, but V isn't the Wachowski's?
The Star Wars universe is born from Lucas' mind, but V for Vendetta had Wachowski's work in adapting a graphic novel, like the Watchmen movie had David Hayter, or Sonic the Hedgehog had Josh Miller.
V for Vendetta's strongest point is the story and the atmosphere, which already existed in the graphic novel. Therefore it's not an awards worthy work.
"Therefore it's not an awards worthy work."
This has nothing to do with the topic.
It was not meant to be taken literally. It's just a way of saying it is nothing to write home about - it's nothing special. Having in your CV "wrote the adaptation of V for Vendetta" is not extraordinary, cannot be compared to creating the Star Wars universe, obviously.
shareMovies are NOT stories.
Do you understand the difference between a book and a film?
I think you do not...
Well, that was odd.
shareHow so?
sharenoun
noun: story; plural noun: stories
1.
an account of imaginary or real people and events told for entertainment.
"an adventure story"
Yes. Which part are you not getting?
shareMovies aren't stories of real or fictional people/events told for entertainment? Really, now?
shareNope! Movies are NOT stories.
The story is just 1 element of a film.
There are lots of excellent films without it. Lots others with paper thin story. The movie writer is NOT the author of any film.
Novels, on the other hand, is what you have in mind.
This is one of the absolutely most braindead takes I have ever read on here lol
I think you're confusing story with plot. You also seem to be partially equating "story" with printed fiction like novels, novellas, short stories, etc. Any piece of narrative fiction tells a story. Even a music video, which contains no dialogue, can contain a story within it
Even a movie without much of a plot still contains a story. Something like Before Sunrise which is just two people walking and having conversations can be said to not have much of a plot, but it is STILL a story. A story of two young people falling in love
I know that you are too stubborn to admit that you are wrong, even to yourself, but I am telling you that you are objectively wrong. Go ask any film expert, any literature professor, or just google what "story" really means in fiction and you will see that you are wrong
You are a total ignorant on the matter.
Clearly you have no clue what cinema is, nor art in general.
Try to use your brain.
If that does not help, try getting informed.
But get a clue.
I think you might actually be the biggest imbecile on this entire website
Your education level seems to be below that of a high school English student
This shows your true level. Personal attacks based on nothing other than being touched on a sensitive spot: your ignorance.
Get a clue about arts and cinema, asshole.
Maybe then you could come back and post about it.
Otherwise, keep spitting out your ignorance from bown below, it's your problem not anybody else's.
