Toxic, involuntarily celibate woman babies are obsessed with castrating MALE brands like the MCU, Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, The Terminator, Masters of the Universe, and Predator but men NEVER infiltrate female brands like The Hunger Games, Twilight, 50 Shades of Gray, Barbie etc. to change them into male brands. Why?
Companies keep hiring so many radical feminists and put them in top roles. Kathleen Kennedy for example.
They all have agendas.
The "Force is Female" didn't you know?
When you fill you ranks with radicals like that this is the kind of crap you end up with.
Kathleen Kennedy probably isn't a very good example to bolster your case. She's been around for along time-- she co-produced E.T., Raiders of the Lost Ark, and many other classics, and was co-founder of Amblin Entertainment with Spielberg. She's not some recent hiree plopped into a top role she doesn't deserve for political reasons.
It almost seems punitive. Like: "White men used to dominate everthing we saw....so now, we (the new wave of young, female and minority studio execs) are going to take over. And in the process, we're going to relegate them to 3rd string extras."
Just look at every single commercial you see on TV. Minorities...female....female minorities.....repeat, repeat.
There should definitely be representation and diversity in the shows, films, and general content we're all exposed to. It just seems like the pendulum was slammed 100% the other way, angrily and punitively.
I'm surprised a show like Yellowstone (which shows men unapologetically) being men....ever got greenlighted in today's climate.
I don't know what to tell you.
Either you get it or you don't.
You can either clearly see a well written, good character or you can't. You can see when there is some quota being filled, an ideology being pressed or you can't.
Most people can clearly see the difference between Ripley in the Alien movies. Clarice Starling in Silence of the Lambs, Tess McGill in Working Girl, Dottie in A League of Their Own verses the crap a lot of the current films push. Those examples I gave were real great characters and well written and not forced.
If someone looks at these great characters and then the female protagonists Disney and other films are pushing and they all seem the same to you then there is no reason to discuss it anymore. Things have gone over your head.

ET and Indiana Jones were a success in spite of Kennedy. She contributed nothing creatively to any of those films. This video of Spielberg talking about the film will confirm this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xr0zqeW_woM
Kennedy started off as Spielberg's assistant, then rode the coattails of her husband Frank Marshall. She's a secretary that got lucky.
Her conduct since being given the reigns of Lucasfilm just proves she's nothing more than an agenda driven despot hack. If she had any talent she'd have taken the company to the next level. reply share
You realize there are male leads in all the "female brand" films right? Katniss has two male love interests and a male mentor. Bella has two male love interests and a male villain depending on the film. 50 Shades of Grey aka a movie named after the male lead. Barbie having the most notable male lead of the year.
Not to mention Jennifer Lawrence is married, Kristen Stewart is engaged, Dakota Johnson's in a 5 year long relationship, Margot Robbie's been married for almost 7 years, etc. So which toxic incels are you referring to? Pretty sure all the directors are shacked up as well.
You know, Freud believed castration anxiety was caused by men's desire to punish themselves for having incestuous thoughts about their mothers and wanting to murder their fathers, aka the old Oedipus complex. Applying that fear to movies is weird, coz movies don't have genitals and can't be castrated or lust after their mothers, and many female-led films still feature a heavily male cast - which can't really be said about "male brand" films. Now that they're finally featuring and even centering more women, you're worried about men not having enough visibility in film? In this industry?
I think all the worry is about ending up with really crappily written movies because no one is "man enough" to stand up and admit the majority of audience is simply not all that interested in women acting like men films.
Box office shows us this over and over and over. YES, there are tiny exceptions here and there, but if it was my millions investing, I would be paying attention to the odds. Tiny niche interest groups do not the majority make.
Worrying about crappily written films is a reasonable concern regardless of the gender of the actors playing the leads. However, this idea that the audience isn't interested in women acting like men films - I don't understand how you've come to believe that's even happening or how you've confirmed it's true, when most people name Ripley or Sarah Connor as their favourite female movie characters of all time, but not T1 Sarah Connor aka the feminine one. So not really sure I can concede your point there.
Also, what box offices have shown us is that women-led films do better at the box office than male-led films, at least according to this article: https://www.bbc.com/news/business-46539473 Barbie's success probably confirms that. So I can absolutely agree that "tiny niche interest groups do not the majority make", but I think we're drawing different conclusions about what that statement means.
already said there are excepts (as in everything). yes, some films do okay.
im not gonna spend hours digging up stats when my personal experience has been very obvious to me. so many ghost buster charlies angels 355 examples.... I've personally witnessed many many female films tanking - even sometimes ones I like -
You proved my point, not your own. Hollywood favors male leads over female ones regardless of who does better, so there were always going to be male-led films at the top just because of there being so many more of them. Avatar (2009) tops the list - how many female lead big budget films were released in 2009? Also notice how many of the higher rated ones are franchise films, hence the greater audience numbers.
And you do care about sex, hence the comparison to a Tom Cruise movie vs a girl lead film. Otherwise, why aren't you interested in good movies full stop, regardless of who the lead is? You didn't just name any male lead, you specified Tom Cruise, because Tom Cruise exclusively sticks to the same tired male stereotype these days. It's fine that you don't want to back up your opinions with facts, but what you personally feel vs what statistical data shows are clearly not one and the same.
So it's down to "not as many women led movies" instead of "guys just don't like women acting like men" in movies?
Interesting. I stand with the guys: just not interested
No, we started with someone claiming "toxic, involuntarily celibate woman babies are obsessed with castrating MALE brands" to me stating that that's not happening, just like "women acting like men" isn't happening - at least not at a rate that's cause for disdain.
There's also no group of women on one side and men on the other, there's people who love movies and people who can't put their love of film above some false noble cause they're standing up for because they've been convinced there's oppression afoot against them via movies. You're free to stand where you like, but your side sounds very not fun and baseless.
If you're only "standing with the guys" coz you find the fellas handsome, I support LGBT+ rights, but you don't have to fake hate women or pretend there's a conspiracy against male actors, those are not the dudes you wanna be dating.
ooof. I stand with the guys that are just not interested, probably because they dont like women acting like men. i'm sure there is a audience for that, but it is generally not found with most men.
Go watch the movie Very Bad Things and then go watch it's female Equivalent Rough Night. Men did the story better in every possible way as a Dark Black Comedy. In Rough Night all the men are Beta as fuck.
