To me, Depp and Heard just seem like stereotypes: a pair of wealthy Hollywood narcissists in an ugly, toxic relationship. It isn't very interesting.
What has been interesting is observing how fascinated people on social media are with this case, and how one-sided the support is towards Depp. Heard doesn't strike me as a stable or nice person, either, but Depp is a well-documented alcoholic and drug user with anger management problems, and has a crazy amount of money and enablers surrounding him. Yet he gets the lion-share of the public sympathy. Look at some of the comments on the MovieChat forums about Heard - they are incredibly nasty.
Some are fangirls or former fangirls who still have feelings for Depp, some are men wno hate women and want to see Heard suffer, because they resent the fact that beautiful women get to say "no" to them.
It's all a sorry spectacle and both Depp and Heard seem like horrible people, and as dumb as a couple of rocks. Did Depp think this beauty half his age was marrying him for love or something?
And most are against false allegations and the fact that a woman MUST be trusted without proof and never be judged.
It's about the lack of fairness and how different the genders are treated in these case: Depp lost all hist roles while Amber was kept in all her roles.
But for a stupid leftist this kind of things are hard to understand.
exactly. I felt the opinions changed when the videos or voice recordings came out revealing how manipulative Amber was. Suddenly she wasn't all innocent and people may have been second guessing their narrative. I don't appreciate false allegations or people trying to play victim. I don't hate the woman. I couldn't tell you a single movie she's in...Except Aquaman...which I haven't seen. The last Johnny Depp movie I saw was 'Into the Woods' in 2014. I liked his movies but don't consider myself a huge fan. I just don't like seeing men's lives ruined for false reasons.
People freaking love Johnny Depp. And we're exploring the other side of the coin, which is something rarely seen. The male victim and the female abuser. Which I don't have to explain to many is far more common than is ever talked about. It's a big deal.
I have mixed feelings about it all. I've been beat up by women. And I didn't lay a hand on them. Cause i'm a man and I was raised to be a man. And when they didn't get the reaction they wanted, they went around spreading lies getting me into fights with psychopaths trying to score some sack time. It's a big ugly game that i've always just accepted. I don't think this or anything is gonna fix any of that. This is human barbarian 101.

More or less agree with your sentiments, and this is one of the many things that's led to me to fall out with the leadership of The Men's Rights Movement, and for self-described Red Pill men to label me "Purple Pill". I agree that we should regularly challenge the brain dead assertion that DV is mostly committed by men against women, and that there are specific laws and policies we need to change, for the sake of upholding The Constitution and providing proper psych treatment to those who are disturbed. There's never going to be a day where we, as men, can haul off and strike women with impunity the way so many gals do to men, nor will there ever be a day where some women don't resort to lies and recruiting gullible people to their side. This is life
Because she was telling the world he was abusive. Everyone believed her because she's a woman and women don't lie. Or wait - She didn't mention that she sliced his finger off and pooped on his bed. Because of her lies he was fired from Pirates of the Caribbean and his reputation was ruined. None of us believed it could happen that her lies would be proven in court and his reputation could be restored. Because you know, she's a woman and women don't lie. That's why the world is watching. It's not your usual run of the mill he said-she said case. It's to figure out what really happened, in front of a judge.
In addition to people feeling they "know" Depp better, there's also the fact that she's seen as a whore.
There's still a tremendous amount of irrational prejudice against sex workers and gold-diggers, some people seem to think that engaging in sex work for money makes you eeeeeevil and completely untrustworthy, instead of just another working schmuck doing a dirty job to earn a living.
It's a "he said/she said" case with fault on both sides, but Depp took a massive career hit that was not warranted just so studio execs could virtue signal amid the "MeToo" mania. I think the cheerleading for JD is mostly a reaction to that perception of unfairness.
Maybe it was just from what she wrote, but I think that with his drinking, and drug use, as well as a history of violent tendencies while intoxicated (not saying that he beats women just saying that there is a history there) as well as diminished returns on Pirates, that that could have had something to do with too.
If anything led to studios reevaluating their relationships with Depp, I would have thought it was the infamous Rolling Stone interview published in June 2018. He sounded like a disaster zone:
The article, pitched by Depp’s lawyer, Adam Waldman, was designed to discuss the “injustice being done to Depp’s reputation and bottom line” in light of legal battles with his former business managers.
Upon entering Depp’s rented mansion in London’s Highgate neighborhood, journalist Stephen Rodrick describes encountering “the stogie-size joint left by the sink in the guest bathroom” and “the never-ending reservoir of wine that is poured into goblets.” Depp insisted that The Management Group’s claims against him were wrong about spending $US30,000 a month on wine. “It’s insulting to say that I spent $US30,000 on wine,” he said. “Because it was far more.”
Depp also talks about preferring to be fed lines through an ear piece and constantly arguing with screenwriters over his 'Pirates of the Caribbean' character.
All of this is by his own admission. Perhaps Heard's accusations were the last straw, but Depp's image and finances were already spiraling. reply share
He was dropped from Pirates 6 and the Fantastic Beasts series after her op-ed. Assessing his losses at $50 million was extremely conservative. It's probably closer to $100 million.
I'm not saying that he op-ed had nothing to do with it, I don't know for sure as I don't work for the studios who dropped him, but 2018 wasn't a good year for Depp's image with or without that op-ed.
To be fair, he'd also done a dreadful job in "Fantastic Beasts" and had been so unprofessional on the set of "Pirates 5" that Disney was looking for ways to continue the franchise without him, his career was already hanging by a thread when the divorce drama happened.
If he lost work at that point, it was at least partly because the movie studios were looking for a reason to *not* pay him that $50-100 million, but of course nobody knows the details. But I'm pretty sure that if there had been no divorce-related drama, his career would still be in bad shape.
I think it is because the recognize every mean girl bitch they have ever known in Amber Turd and so want to see her suffer for all the mean bitches they have ever known in life.
Only one post in this thread mentions the potential of abuse against a man. How very sad that a man cannot be believed when he has been abused or even potentially abused.
If a woman screams rape or abuse the mans life is over regardless of eveidence or guilt. Reverse the situation in this example and as she said "no one will believe you". And so far it seems to be the case.
No wonder male suicide is at epidemic levels. Why not kill yourself when no one will believe you anyway. Again how very sad a world we have created.
You do realise that the #MeToo movement was started because of being told "no one will believe you".
Not that I am saying that men are not victims. Not at all. I'm saying that men were part of the movement too, and should continue to be so. This article is mostly men who were abused by other men, but we know there are male victims out there.
I think that the issue with the Depp case is that while he certainly may be a victim, the man does have a past history of drunken violence. Is it fair to bring that up? Who knows. The recordings released by him show them both in a poor light. People bring up women's history all the time when there is a lawsuit.
To echo what we hear in those cases,
Why didn't he press charges at the time?
Why didn't he just leave?
...
Goto a pub and grab a womans ass and see how many limbs you have left.
Goto a pub and have your ass grabbed by a woman and watch noone care.
That is the hypocrisy of what Depp is trying to show. He is not saying he is innocent. He is showing how differently we treat men and woman. His career was ruined over accusations while she has evidence against her being abusive and is working just fine and people still think she is completely innocent.
the man does have a past history of drunken violence
Even though friends and former wife have said he was never violent or showed any form of violence. Or are you just saying that because some tweet or article said it.
This is one of many social experiments that shows how we treat men and woman who are victims of abuse completely opposite of each other.
I'm saying that men were part of the movement too
Due to them wanting to be seen as allies and not wanting to be called out as sexist or the new buzzword misogynistic. We never hear of misandry, doesn't exist as fair as most people are concerned. Which is nonsense.
A woman can destroy a mans life while never once lift a finger against him but we don't see or class that as abuse. He is told to man up or be happy she wants to be with him and touch him. Even if it is found out that the accusations were false there is still no punishment for the woman. His name is dragged through the mud but she is kept anonymous even as said she was lying.
They scream equality until it doesn't benefit them and then they want special treatment. Pick one, you can't have both.

I agree, but I will say that it was only until recently that there were any repercussions for grabbing a woman's ass. It was seen as a compliment.
The men in the article came out and said me too. I don't consider them just allies, I consider them victims as well. I don't care if it was a man or a woman who was the abuser.
My saying that Johnny Depp has had a history of violence, is that Johnny Depp has a history of violence. I've never said that he has a history of beating women. That's something different. I don't know how old you are, but I remember the stories of Johnny from the late 80s and 90s. Especially when he was with Kate Moss. He's been accused of assault long before he ever met Amber.
I think that we do treat male victims differently. To a point. I'm not saying that Depp isn't a victim at all, but what I am saying is that his credibility is being questioned. That's something that any woman who accuses a man has to go through. I do agree that proven false accusations need to be punished by the courts. False accusations are detrimental to real victims, and they are disgusting.
I don't care if it was a man or a woman who was the abuser.
Pity everyone doesn't agree with you. Family courts side with the mother no matter what 88% of the time. Woman are even weaponising the fact they only have to tell the judge without evidence that her husband or partner hit her and he won't see his kids. Again woman only need an accusation without proof and that is disgusting.
Especially when he was with Kate Moss
During the Uk trial. Kate Moss, Winona Ryder and Vanessa Paradis all claimed he was never violent towards them or anyone they knew.
This is a quote (below) from Vanessa Paradis his wife of 14 years.
'I cannot wrap my head around these accusations. He was never, never violent towards me. He was never, never abusive at all towards me. He has never been violent or abusive towards anybody I have seen.
'I do not want to call anyone a liar but from my experience of Johnny, it is impossible to believe that such horrific allegations are true. I find it extremely upsetting, knowing him as I do.'
but what I am saying is that his credibility is being questioned
Why? Why is not believed like woman are.
That's something that any woman who accuses a man has to go through
Anonymously
False accusations are detrimental to real victims, and they are disgusting.
Now that is something I can wholeheartedly agree on.

Depp trashed a hotel room when he and Moss were fighting. He was arrested for that. In 1989 he attacked a hotel security guard in Vancouver. He was arrested for that. He threatened paparazzi with a block of wood with Paradis present in 1999. He was arrested for that. He was also arrested for getting into a tiff-with an L.A. police officer over a jaywalking ticket. There were also bar fights in the 90s as well.
I am not saying that Depp hit Heard. Maybe he did in self defense. I don't know, I am just saying that he was arrested for violent behaviour in the past.
Why? Why is not believed like woman are.
Women being believed is a relatively new thing.
Also, as to lives being ruined by anonymously, where are all these lives? I mean cancel culture is an issue, but other than Chris Noth, I can't think of many who have been ruined of anonymous accusations. I'm not saying you are wrong. I'm just not aware.
