Why do people bring crying babies to movies at the theater?

I went to see “Gone with the Wind” tonight at a local theater and someone in the audience had a crying baby that you could easily hear over the dialogue. It just seems like an odd thing to do.

I never understood why people bring offspring to a Blood Eagle event either.

Remember that time we visited England (in disguise, of course) and got to watch the hangings in that town? They aren't as much fun as blood eagle events, but what got my attention was how many parents brought their kids, and picnic baskets! Life must be very boring for those pansies to bring kids to such events.

reply

Silly Saxons and their hangings.

reply

I know! It's such a letdown, literally!

reply

Who wants to hang around for that?

reply

Lol, good one!

I had a similar issue when we went to see the live-action "Beauty and the Beast" in 2017. A bunch of idiot parents brought their young, loud, energetic kids to the movie, and the place felt more like an out-of-control daycare than a movie theater. It took all my self-control not to yell at those morons for bringing their kids to this, considering it wasn't even a movie for kids under 6! They eventually calmed down and shut up, but we were halfway through the movie at that point.

To be fair if I was forced to sit through Gone With the Wind again I would probably cry too.

I remember one Halloween maybe ten+ years ago, it was a 9P+, maybe 10P showing of the remake of A Nightmare on Elm St. As me and a couple friends were sitting in prime seats (imo dead center, 1/3-1/4 back from screen) we watched in disbelief as a multi generational family from grandparents down to a baby, and several toddlers marched in and took up the left half of the entire front row. There was zero supervision of any kid crawling , running and yelling all over, and the baby iirc was left by itself in its own seat alternately screeching during the quiet parts and sleeping during the (supposedly) scary parts. It was mayhem.

Good thing the movie sucked or we'd have really been mad, but some patron summoned a theater employee who the whole family just yelled at and almost got physical. And no, it wasn't a Magic Johnson Theater, but close. I think after half the movie had gone, one of them took the screeching baby out to the lobby.

iirc that lovely, caring, respectful family did get us coupons, at least.

Because an alarming number of people were poorly raised and can't act right in public.

Ever been to a bar in the evening and some dope has her kids in there with her? Guys are tossing darts or playing pinball or yelling at the game on the TV, it's all cussing, gambling and drunkenness and there's a stranger's little kid underfoot?

A LOT of 'adults' act like tween morons, they had no social training and grew up thinking their stupid story needed to become part of yours. Obnoxious, selfish pigs and they will raise the same.

"...there's a stranger's little kid underfoot?"

Seriously? 🙄 I'd venture to guess you might have experienced this maybe once in a blue moon. But of course, you want to justify being a mean-spirited drunk while simultaneously projecting and lecturing about adult behavior from your extremely self righteous high horse.

Bored and alone AGAIN and seeking attention.

Die alone old turd.

As if you're not alone in your garage, drunk and ranting and raving again.
