So it ends up ending like every Scream and Halloween (and every slasher film ever made). And it tried to complete the circle, to finish the killing that caused the switch - which would end any chance of Kathryn trying to talk about what happened.
They were all unpleasant people who got what they deserved though, and he was a sadist. Surprised it only got a 15 rating here, but was that because it was meant as a comedy?
This post took me there. Very similar mood and feel, plus being based on a few real people from the time. Was the Todd Rundgren radio piece a reference to AF's opening montage? Or am I being too obscure?
There wasn't much in William's piece that could be confirmed from outside the band, except the Golden God. And not much they would want printed. Plus with William being so young, it was easy enough to get the story pulled. Nobody at the magazine would want to risk lawsuits. I wonder how much of the original article ended up in the printed one, and how the Rolling Staff reacted to William when they knew he was genuine.
Exactly. Was going to mention EWS before seeing your post. They all seemed to know each other already, so must've been meeting on a regular basis. Same with the staff who all sound like regulars. The references throughout to the seriousness of the proceedings imply the need for discretion and trust. Everyone could do damage if they went public. Reminded me of the pool table scene in EWS, where the underlying threat and menace was obvious.
Exactly as above. Something threw out, back or otherwise. You could tell by his actions afterwards.
Exactly - an odd one. Maybe a delayed reaction to her friend dying, and/or a reaction to the complete passiveness/ennui of her life. Maybe she feels the job won't last, if the clientele want that kind of service. Or just wanting some actual human contact. The 'sleeping' in the title both a literal and metaphoric term. And was she scared about being able to get the camera back/being caught?
What were you expecting from it, and why did you watch it? I see it as you get with twins sometimes - a kind of connection between them. Here we get two unrelated women, but connected by appearance and perhaps time of birth. Some unknown connection exists between them, which V feels when W dies. Then all these similarities and coincidences they share.
If you tried suicide, would the demon try and stop you? And if you tried murder, you would have to be sure there was a witness. So then there's a good chance you would be arrested. Maybe there's another option, that a sequel will explore.
Then there's always the chance that you could be the witness to another suicide in the cycle.
Was there meant to be thrills or suspense though? There's more an atmosphere of threat/menace, a secret world that Bill is wise not to get too involved with.
You could say that nothing is said about any back story in GB1. They could all have kids. Maybe Egon wasn't on good terms, and not talking to any of the family?
You could also say that GB2 had nothing to do with the Gozer/Shandor arc, so didn't need to be referenced. But the number from the original advert got through to Ray's Occult.
It was always there, but only alluded to for the most part. So then it would catch us by surprise later on. And not knowing how many seasons they would get.
A few shots of her paying for the drinks and getting change too, so maybe another financial thing? But we didn't need to know.
Think Cam still went on the road trip, or did they get straight into it?
Watched it again this week, and remembered a scene where she was discovered listening into meetings, or some kind of suspicious recording. Must've only imagined it though. But yes, we see it a bunch of times in the Rover scenes.
If they were pan-and-scan, the only losses would be the sides. There would be nothing new to see.
Wasn't there a lot of dope smoking going on?
Well, how much work would it need to get them up to releasable quality, and what would the market be? And would Disney want us to go off-canon?
We'd seen enough of the others to know what would happen here. This was just the film within the film.
Experimental, yes. Slow, but glad I saw it. Some big ideas going on.
Perhaps it was all about reading the note in the wall. Time and fate gave him the chance to do that.
