I really liked the main officer in that segment. His police ants statement was funny! I wonder if the car might have been stolen. I just don't see someone leading a lengthy chase across yards for nothing at all. I liked the Maldonaldo segment too where the woman got ripped off for buying crack. The Hillsborough County segment was in the same episode where the guy from Springfield, Missouri had a fight at a convenience store and later led police on a short chase and lies about being jumped. The woman from Savannah, Georgia who got arrested for drugs, messing up her chances of getting into the Coast Guard is also in that episode. Another segment where I thought the officers were jerks was the season 24 segment in Hillsborough County where the guy at the motel who was trying to break into a car while the owner was charging the battery. I thought both the male and female were arrogant throughout and the suspect seemed very confused about what was happening. They both took him to the ground. I especially didn't like it when the female officer rudely interrupted him as if she knew everything that happened. The owner later declined to press charges. I like Maldonado too but didn't care for him nearly as much in that segment. I didn't like him overreacting every time the suspect tried to move and felt he was using excessive force and also didn't like him raising his voice when the suspect wasn't giving a clear answer to one of his questions. This was one of the few segments where we didn't hear the aftermath of why the guy ran. I know TruTV aired it a lot in the late 2000s. I think the oldest episodes I've watched were in early 1998, which was doing season 10. I think TruTV stopped airing the reruns in 2013 when the reruns moved over to Spike. I was totally shocked. I'm guessing the taser didn't have much effect on him. Another criminal who I thought was somewhat funny was the guy from Norwood Ohio who led police on a reckless chase after they tried to tase him. I thought he was funny when the police asked him why he ran. He said, "This is like Gestapo Germany 1940s, the police are telling me they're going to search my car". It was all over small pieces of cocaine. He would've gone home if he was cooperative and didn't start fighting with police during the investigation. I actually didn't start watching COPS regularly until 2014, so I never saw much of the really old episodes. Cops also aired in reruns on G4, Cloo, Spike/Paramount Network, and WGN America. When Court TV rebranded as TruTV in 2008, it still aired in reruns for a time until Spike picked up the package of reruns. I agree. Hopefully, he got help. I like Simpkins and didn't have a problem with him. He was cool and respctful throughout. I felt bad for the suspect because of his habit and that his parents didn't want anything to do with him. I liked both segments and felt sorry for both, even though the one suspect was making threats at officers. Was that the one where the guy was threatening officers if they showed up? He definitely wasn't in his 60's though. The segment I mentioned took place at night. I'll have to think about it. It was in Pierce County during season 23. It was an attempted suicide. The officer, Robert Carpenter told him to show his hands, along with his wife/girlfriend. The male runs and begs Officer Carpenter to shoot him, but tased him so it didn't have to happen. The man seemed to have lots of issues that hopefully he got help for. The man claimed to have a bomb at first. Carpenter later told him he was glad that he didn't have to shoot him. That's true about not wanting their faces shown on TV. I heard the reason that many individual's faces were blurred was that many people didn't know the show at the time. Maybe because of the rise of the internet, as stuff like that is easier to find now? She also stopped an older white male at a motel for suspicious behavior and found heroin in his possession. I remember that one! She appeared in at least two episodes, which one was it? I also don't like it when people toss their lit cigarette butts out the window during droughts. It always seems to contribute to wildfires.
