screenwriter's Replies

Children yes, grandchildren no. Ewwwww no. I was expecting to see their children - adult children. I once read, MANY years ago, that he and Gene Hackman never turned down a role if they didn't have something else already going. I since found out it wasn't true but with the massive credits of both these actors - you have to think it isn't that far off. Tipping was loathed as a master-serf custom of the caste-bound Old World that went back to the Middle Ages, tipping was blamed for encouraging servility and degrading America's democratic, puritanical, and anti-aristocratic ethic. European immigrants surging into the U.S. were charged with bringing this deplorable custom with them. But in fact, it was also American tourists, like the characters in Henry James' novels, who picked up the restaurant conventions of the Continent, and imported them back to America. He's worth $180 million - we should all be so "held back". Stranger than Fiction Primal Fear My vision of Cal's suicide is, years after the sinking, he and his wife go to the movies and who else is on screen but "Rose Dawson". Prick as he was, he did love her completely as evidenced when he had the chance to leave the Titanic but stayed on board because she was still on board. It was evidenced before that too when he gave her the necklace just because she was melancholy. When he saw her on screen he couldn't live with the totality of the knowledge she was alive and wanted nothing to do with him and that she loved Jack so much as to take his name and that is when he killed himself. It just happened to coincide with the crash of Wall Street. Anyway, that's just how my mind filled in the blanks on Cal. One of the giant chimneys fell forward onto him in the water. The highway scene could have used some paring down. Way too long. I didn't see anything in the movie or the book that would indicate she had any feelings for anyone other than herself including women who are white, educated, and rich. I would ask if that includes "no politics" but Hollywood is so political these days. How can you not? Take it to the politics forum. The atmospheric water is fairly neutral. It would be like us walking around in acid fumes. Wouldn't that depend on which wheel you are referring to ...? The book - well worth the effort. Harder to be sympathetic to Scarlett because she is so retched to her other children. Bonny is the only one she loved. The added characters, left out of the movie, are wonderful too. Don't forget eating when she was nervous. Then she had the dream were she was morbidly obese which squelched that. She does get annoying at times. The photo of her handcuffed in front of the judge while still wearing scrubs is very telling. She would be more a candidate for and Impaired Professionals program. She'd have to be to keep her license. She even made the comment that she became a nurse so she could have access to drugs. You see her when Marjorie's husband is in the hospital - and Christie when she has pneumonia - she is 100% on top of things. Her's is the only life without some exploration. Would be nice to see an episode where she is framed for stealing drugs by a pharmacist and have her come through that. My ex husband (pharmacist) did that to an ER nurse -- it would be very compelling. Or maybe rap? Ebonics instead of Jive?
