Seems like the Atlanteans would be protesting over having their back story wiped out.
Turns out ABBA's still around, and Bonnie Raitt too!
And Willie Nelson is still kicking.
It's good they continued the original story line. But Shuri isn't believable as an action hero. Plus she's more valuable as the tech guy/gal. (Instead of recruiting an even more annoying tech guy/gal.) The new Black Panther should have been Nakia. She's far more capable in the field, more believable as an action hero, and has more charisma.
Wakanda is far more advanced, and more aware of the outside world. It wouldn't be close.
But spend a little more time editing it so it's more focused and doesn't meander all over the place.
Very forgettable movie. DC and Marvel are both still looking for the next great superhero take to lead their flailing franchises.
She's not a robot though. She stays true to the character while also wanting to save the school. Other students want to be her friend, but she doesn't exactly reciprocate.
She plays her cold and unemotional, with just a hint of humanity sneaking through. She's brilliant.
Nice shot.
The acting was great (except for the youngest Elder brother), with menace building throughout, some moral messages about family, and heroes who weren't so squeaky clean, trying to do things the right way for their dear, departed mother. The script wasn't as black and white, good vs. evil as people say either, with a few guys of conscience (like the gung-ho deputy and the Dennis Hopper character) caught in the middle and having to choose sides and question their choices. I suspect the rating is low because it takes so long to get to the action. But it's a great pay-off if you wait.
It takes it's time setting up the final act, but the payoff is worth it. Modern movies don't trust the audience to follow a story for that long.
The show is better than most of what is out there. There are some eye-rolling moments, like when Freydis <spoiler>killed St. Olaf in single combat,</spoiler> but even that was part of an entertaining battle sequence.
I like it when movies don't spell everything out. But I suspect they had more flashbacks that got cut to keep the running time under 2 hours.
Seems like he was a bloodthirsty Viking who reformed somewhere along the line and vowed to do good. Maybe he made a deal with God (while running up that hill), to save himself in some dangerous situation, or to help him save his wife. Or maybe he found Christianity and took it as a personal quest to make up for past misdeeds. Or maybe he got drafted by the previous Santa Claus, who saw the good in him and challenged him to do better.
Juancho Hernangomez should get the Oscar nomination. He played the second coming of a werewolf Scottie Pippen, when he's really just an NBA bench player (5 points and 3 rebounds per game for his career, around 12 points and 8 rebounds per 36 minutes, if he had a chance to play more).
It's amazing how good even the average players in the NBA are. I've gone to NBA summer league games in Las Vegas, where most of the players are only hoping to make the league, and the basketball skill level is very impressive.
Basketball is popular worldwide. There's a Euro league, a league in Spain, leagues in Turkey, Russia, Germany, Italy, France, the Balkans, Greece, Australia, Lithuania, China, the Phillippines, etc. There are over 100 countries with a national team or a league, and over 70,000 professional players around the globe. It's an international sport. There's at least one NBA player from 89 different countries.
It was even set in Philadelphia
Sometimes the only way to win is not to play. Neutrality could be based on a desire to continue business with both sides (Norway was continuing to ship iron ore to Britain and to Germany), or a realistic assessment of the differences in military strength (Germany had a much larger and better equipped army). But if the bully is going to attack anyway, you may as well fight.
If you're trying to get rid of Hitler, you're automatically much better.
This show was one of the better ones on Saturday mornings. Cartoons got really dumbed down later.
This movie was a mess.
