I think it's boring and cliched. I can't stand shows on TV like Game of Thrones where each show has to have girls with their breasts out. It's always breasts and nothing else. Sometimes shows with displays penises but never female genitals, which makes no sense. It's like females genitals are more "erotic" than a penis. Whatever the case, I hate it all. It's particularly weird since you can find endless porn on the internet featuring any kind of sex you can imagine. So, tuning in to some show or movie that has "breasts" feels childish to me. The filmmakers are childish as well. Do they really believe they're doing something shocking/edgy/sexy showing breasts? I'm happy there's less sex in films. I like both a lot and always have. Each company brings something different to think about. I know a little about the comic setting, but hated the art, so never bought them. This film was great and I've watched it many times, but it's low budget regarding the world it takes place in. So, I'd like to see a big budget version with the bizarre setting of the comic. I'm sure there's lots of intense crime stories you could put in this setting. A science fiction mafia story, The Departed, set here, or many other ideas would be great. There is no reason to be Batman if he kills people. Anyone can kill people so there's is no need to dress up in a costume and be a hero. He doesn't kill people because he was the victim of a murder and doesn't like murder and doesn't want anyone else to experience it. That's why he fights crime. It's the basic Batman story. The failure is in the movies. No movie ever shows him using science fiction level weapons that are nonlethal. Batman is a science fiction character and all the attempts to make him "realistic" are stupid. Batman could not exist in the modern world with anything near our technology. If he did he would have to murder people to survive. Your post is stupid because it contains no content. You don't know how to follow a conversation. You are an idiot who takes examples literally. Also, do you live in a basement? You have never heard hysteria about fast food? Come the fuck on... It's not "nudity" it's all about how this stuff is presented. I view sex the way I view food, it's a natural part of life to want and enjoy it. However, if the media constantly presented gluttony with food and people force feeding people food, many would freak out. You can't even talk about McDonald's today without someone preaching at you. People can't smoke on TV or movies without people freaking out, but rape, bondage, sexual violence, is okay? It's not puritanical it's a reaction to sexual weirdness being typically okay, but other types of excessive behavior aren't okay. Firstly, I don't see that many obese people and I've been all over the country. But, I do see them typically in rural areas. You will not find that many fat people in cities. That's because American life is very boring and high stress. People must work all the time and then they get home late with only a few hours of personal time. So, for an adult, there's nothing to do but watch TV and eat. Eating is the only pleasure in the lives of some people. It's what they plan on when getting home, it's what they look forward to, and it feels good. Years ago, I was working a very high stress job and got fat from pleasure eating. I have always been a fitness person and this really surprised me. I then got back on track and now hit the gym daily, don't eat for pleasure, and I'm in good shape. However, I still have high stress jobs. So, my evening is going to the gym for at least an hour or more, which means I have almost no personal time at all. I don't get to watch much TV and it can be annoying to a loved one if I'm in the gym. There just is no time for anything in the US due to the heavy focus on work and how expensive it is to live a basic lifestyle Ignoring that propaganda exists is stupid. It does, it's all over the media, and the people who purposely make "fake entertainment" that's made to brainwash people are responsible. It's beyond the ability of kids to figure out and most parents. That's because propaganda is very slick and might even need a psychologist type to figure out what message is being promoted. I provided evidence for the one point. Meanwhile, why do I owe you evidence. Provide evidence for me that I'm wrong. You are right and wrong. We are a product of society and how are mind interprets what society/environment teaches us. That's what the famous psychologist Alfred Adler believed and where my name comes from. So, people are like products. You can look at a machine gun as just metal and some chemicals, but really it all was formed into a machine gun, and they are dangerous. Men and women are different because they were formed into different products. Women are notorious as a group for different things and so are men. Men like certain kinds of movies, etc and women don't. You might think you're all virtuous and PC, but marketing studies are about the same as psych studies only more hardcore, and business knows what men and women respond to. They respond to different things and that's how money is made off them through movies. Wake up. I didn't bring gender into the topic, reality did. I observed a theater filled with women at the movies. The demographic for these films is female and they are made for females. The typical demographic for movies is young males. A bunch of dudes aren't going to see this movie. So, the initial poster asked why people want to see these movies and I answered. If you don't like the answer, then something is wrong with you. Shape of water didn't really have a plot and almost no theme/message. That's the problem with most films today. They have no important theme. Maybe it will be something cliched like "freedom of choice" or something we already know, like racism is bad, etc. Older films, you can sit around and discuss if you like, but not many modern films. Once again, it's totally bizarre that superhero movies have long plots that span many films. They have characters that are metaphors for real people, and you can discuss them or maybe even write a paper on them. Not much else out there like it. I'm a psychotherapist and use superhero stories as explanations about how to handle trauma and all kinds of stuff. People love it too. Yes, but men tend not to go to these movies. So, there has to be something about the psychology of women and these films. The topic is why women like these movies, not about the entire human condition. Your post made no sense. I said what I said because it's largely true. You will not find many men with Munchhausen By Proxy (Factious Disorder) for example. That's where you make children sick to gain attention for yourself. Codependent relationships usually have the female in the role of "saint" with a male "bad boy". Women are noted for "virtual signaling" regarding PC speech, and so forth. It's a female trait to want to seem like a saint based around some kind of ongoing negativity. That isn't something men are noted for and why they aren't drawn to these movies. Many of those are very bad films with very bad plot holes or weak plots. You should check out movies from the 40s as I mentioned before. Seems like most links are targeted. I have had my phone in my pocket and had conversations about obscure things in real life and then find ads about it on my phone. One was about a place in New York with a really odd name that I never heard of. I found that to be troubling. I used to but no longer do. I think complex life is probably very rare in the universe due to the need for ideal conditions and the events that make everything fall into place. In addition, I don't believe that there's any power source that can make ships travel the distances needed. Also, I think there's something bizarre about humans where we hate each other and don't accept life as it is. That makes us want to leave here and is like some kind of mental illness. I believe that a sane and smart species wouldn't want to leave their planet, wouldn't care what's out in space, and would basically stay home and make their planet a nice place to live. Humans do not want to make the Earth nice, do not want to take care of other humans, but want to meet aliens. That's crazy and if there are aliens who aren't crazy like this, they would never bother making contact, building ships, or any of it.
