He was undoubtedly rich, but I think "Britain's richest man" is one of his claims that was really just part of his self promotion.
Yeah. And I was pleased that it seemed Jess at least had the chicken sacrifices faked.
Also nice that in addition to the three attractive female leads, there was the one woman playing Marian who did a nice sex scene before getting killed. Listed at IMDB as Ly Frey with no other credits. I wonder if she was in anything else. But as far as exploitation cinema goes, this one delivers in spades. It's the kind of Franco-verse I like hanging out in.
I don't know that it's streaming anywhere right now. I have the Full Moon blu-ray which was cheap.

Watched this today and really liked it. Good story, nice location, lovely women, mostly nude (hey, it's a warm climate!) and horny. Who could ask for more from good ol Jess? The sister character Olga was funny, she cracked me up with some of her lines and the way she would come on to Susan.
Did you see it? Worth seeing at all? I'm curious, and I liked Noemie Merlant well enough in "Curiosa". There's a blu-ray coming in July, but I will need to rent this/stream it online first. I wish it would have gone forward with Lea Seydoux.
That is sorta crazy. Soledad Miranda being on his first volume made sense. Only in a few movies, but she made an impact. It does seem like a no-brainer that volume 2 would have Lina on the cover. Though it's hard to beat that image they went with, even if she is just in the one film.
Okay, finished this and where it takes place is confusing. They do say Louisiana at one point and talk about "The Americas" and having come to "this land". When the Jess Franco character is woke up from a drunk hangover he's told by the guy (Brooks?) "remember, we are in Louisiana and I am Inspector Brooks of Scotland Yard", making it seem like where they were could be part of some performance?
But if this is Louisiana, why is a Scotland Yard inspector there, why all the talk about the notary from England, etc. And Baron Tobias talking about needing to be in London in a few days. You can't get from Louisiana to London in "a few days" sailing across the Atlantic. The story seems very 19th century. The talk about people from Scotland Yard and London arriving and traveling back, and and being on the scene the day after a murder makes it seem like this is on some alternate universe where Louisiana is an island right off the coast of England.
Or maybe NOBODY is from England and they are all faking this as part of the plot? That could be it.
It was confusing. I believe the imposter Lord Marian (killed at the beginning) was part of the plot along with the Baron and Lady Tobias (William Berger, Evelyne Scott), and perhaps even the wife Cecilia and the housekeeper Deborah. That's why they were all killed by the real Lord Marian who was posing as Major Brooks. Fake Marian made the will giving everything to his "dirty mulatta" daughter Rita because she was the only one not part of the plot. And so he assumed if he was murdered it was certainly one of the other co-conspirators.
Yeah, that's a weird comment. She did look very sexy in this, looked NOTHING like Reese Witherspoon.
To the OP (17 years ago) - make you a bad person? What a dumb question. But goes along with the equally annoying stupid use of unnecessary ellipsis. Fuck all you .... people.
That doesn't seem right, but I do see that storyline "residents of a Louisiana castle..." listed at IMDB. I wonder if that's a relic of a poor English dub that substituted some words. The version I have is only in the original Spanish.
For anyone wondering (I was), there ARE castles in Louisiana!

I watched a little of this. Lina Romay's character in talking about the dead Lord Marion calls him "a great lord of the court of England" and guy investigating the murder is referred to by the lawyer as "one of Scotland Yard's greatest inspectors". So no, I don't think this is supposed to be in Louisiana.
I thought she did fine. But despite the somewhat happy ending, it's just mostly a depressing movie watching her self-destruct. I thought Carice Van Houten was good in her part as well. The Japanese lady who ran the school was good, but she's rally only in 2-3 scenes. Would love to watch Alexandra in an actual sexy erotic role, but there's little of that here.
Two rapes - Marina Sirtis and logic/realism. Both equally entertaining, I guess.
Not incest. Having sex with a clone of your wife wouldn't be incest, unless your (his own) DNA were somehow put into it. DREN wasn't any blood relative of his.
She might have also had some irresistible sex pheromone she was letting out. Besides, what's wrong with a little hot inter-species sex?
I love this movie and that there are people who appreciate it. It's one that it seems a lot of people have never heard of, but one I always recommend to people I like.
She was perfect for the part. I like her in most things, but this might be my favorite role of hers.
I like Susan George, but I didn't really like her accent in this. It sounded awkward for her. Not sure why they couldn't have picked a native (US) English speaker for the role. It's not that she sounds British in this, but the accent she uses doesn't really sound like it's from anywhere and doesn't sound natural like the other two guys she's in the car with.
Mia Kirshner was great in this. I liked seeing her in various characterizations. She's a beautiful girl, but early on when she's supposed to be mousy and not as attractive, she sells it with body language and demeanor. She easily could have played a mean girl type role in this as well. She's probably more versatile than given credit for.
Maybe to use in testing purity against other samples?
Yes, very sexy. It's not like she's some inherently physical bombshell. But she's very cute, and has a very provocative sexy demeanor.
