I think a Bowie one would be amazing, a guy who reinvented himself over the years and created great albums, had his crazy drug years, a crazy first marriage, and a great closing chapter when he was producing some of his best work in years. One of Britain's greatest artists. My worry is his son Duncan Jones, is very guarded on his dad legacy. I don't want a whitewash on his dad's biopic. I'd want a warts and all one. They are doing a Bowie biopic called Stardust, with Johnny Flynn (Beast, Clouds of Sil Maria, Genuis tv show) as Bowie, Jena Malone as Angie Bowie, and Marc Maron. It's set for release in 2020. It's about Bowie's first visit to U.S in 1971 that inspired his invention of Ziggy Stardust. But Duncan Jones has blocked them from using any of his dad's music. We have had a few on Elvis already, two good ones with John Carpenter's TV film with Kurt Russell and a very good TV film with Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Randy Quaid. Michael Jackson one would be very interesting, if it's a truthful and honest one. One of Blunts better performances. It's amazing with the talent of Adams and Blunt that it's such a forgotten film. I don't think it works overall as a film, but their performances are both great. It was kinda of made during Blunt's indie film phase, where she wasn't quite the big star she is now. She's probably delivered her best work over the last few years imo. Turning into a top actress. I add in films that overall didn't work but her performance alone is worth it A Quiet Place (2018)- Very good horror, she's excellent in it The devil Wears Prada (2006)- Her breakthrough into Hollywood, she steals the film from both Streep and Hathaway. Edge of Tomorrow (2014)- Shows she can be a action star, the film is a action gem. Sicario (2015)- Del toro steals the show, but Blunt is the heart and soul in the film. Into The Woods (2014)- The film isn't great, but Blunt is the best thing in it. Young Victoria (2009)- Probably one of her best earlier performances. My Summer of Love (2004)- her breakthrough role, probably her darkest performance to date. Wild Target (2010)- Not one of Blunts better known films, but I love Blunt when she plays a sweet character. Your Sister's Sister (2011)- Another little seen film during her quiet indie film phase of late 00's/early 10's, another loveable performance. Sunshine Cleaning (2008)- Amy Adams and Blunt in a film together, and it's totally forgotten. The film isn't great but Blunt is. Mary Poppins Returns (2018)- The film isn't a touch on the classic first, but Blunt is fantastic in it. For my top 5 out of those 1. Sicario 2. Young Victoria 3. Edge of Tomorrow 4. My Summer of love 5. The Devil Wears Prada The Raid Films, both 1 and 2 are excellent John Wick 1 and 2 are also excellent Mad Max Fury Road is a classic The Dark Knight is a classic First Kingsman was excellent action film Deadpool's are both very good Most of Marvel's, anything from Captain America, Avengers and Guardians of The galaxy you be doing well Dredd is a lost gem She's the prototype British female soap star, every soap has that one female star who stands out not cause they are good actresses but they are attractive. She's doing well to milk her fame before the next one comes along. She's at her level b-level drama series promoted big cause of her fame for been a beauty and been on a famous soap. But you never know, a crappy but successful drama or comedy on a American network could do her well. As you said she's a attractive woman so if she pushed hard and auditioned hard enough you never know. It's definitely in for a shout that's for sure. The Favorite, La La Land, Easy A, The Help, Superbad, Zombieland, Birdman, Battle of the Sexes and Crazy Stupid Love But she's got a few duds there, and she's especially miscast in a few. Gangster Squad (she's no Femme Fatale) and. Aloha (she's not Asian). She's fine in her Woody Allen outings but neither are his top work. Spiderman films aren't great, not cause of her or Garfield. Movie 43, nuff said. She's more hit then miss, I find her more interesting when she does more artier fare. The Favorite is her best performance to date for me. She needs to play more nastier characters cause she was great in that. Sad news, very good actor who spent most of his career on the stage. Got a good C.V with films like The American Friend, Wings of Desire, Downfall, Nosferatu been the main standouts. But he had some gems in there too like In Order of Disappearance (now remade with Liam Neeson), The Baader Meinhof Complex, The Last Days of Chez Nous (a film well worth looking for), Faraway So Close (a underrated film imo), The Reader and The Counselor (a film better then it bad rep that proceeds it) . His last film looks like it will be Terrence Malick's Radegund. Top actor. Doesn't get mentioned when you talk about his best performances. Oscar winning roles can be underrated too. Not every Best picture Oscar is well remembered imo. Definitely one of Peter Weir's more underrated films, I wrote a thread why I think it's underrated. It has one of Colin Farrell's great performances, the photography is excellent and that it was based on a true story makes it even more gripping. Definitely worth getting on blu ray if you can. I think The Last Detail over the years has been getting a lot more love then it once did. I think the likes of The Passenger, King of Marvin Gardens, The Pledge and Carnal Knowledge are works that are more underrated in his canon then The Last detail imo. I think her character in AOAAG, definitely deserved to get with Gere, I thought she was the heart of that film. I agree with Urban Cowboy though, she seemed to jump into Scott Glenn's character's arms without a second thought. I agree with it been the best John Irving adaption. I'd also like to see The Hotel New Hampshire been given the Criterion Collection treatment as well, although it's not a well loved film but I like it. Garp has that feel of films of the day's Hollywood took chances and filmed great unfilmable books with top stars and Oscar winning directors. Delivering work that today would only get made in European or Asian Cinema. The feminist stuff is why I don't think it would get made, especially in the MeToo world we live in today. It would be attacked for the reasons you stated. Also no studio would green lit it, even if a top director wanted to do it. A bit like Christoph Waltz, Quentin Tarantino just seems to get the best out of them and they don't see to be as strong away from him. Name me a role from Waltz that rival's his two Oscar winning roles with Tarantino. You can't. Her best films are Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill films. But she has some gems in her C.V, Gattaca (1997), Beautiful Girls (1996), Dangerous Liaisons (1989), Henry and June (1990), Mad Dog and Glory (1993), Vatel (2000), Nymphomaniac (2013), Sweet and Lowdown (1999), Tape (2001). She's been more miss then hit, and she can be truly awful if the director doesn't get her into gear. I think once the looks started to fade and that Tarantino cred didn't last long, I think she knew her leading days were gone. Lynne Ramsey The Vanishing - Original version Requiem for a dream Come and See Great to see The Way Back on top of the list. I know he probably find it hard to get feuding for his films seen as The Way Back and Master and Commander didn't make their money back, shame really as both are great films. Definitely interesting, he hasn't made a feel as dream like or mysterious as Hanging Rock since so it be nice to see him give something like that another go. Hopefully it finding funding. It's a lot better then the 6.2 that it has on IMDB. Gerard Depardieu was fantastic, the Piano scene is funny but also touching. Andie MacDowell probably gives one of her better performances in this. Both her and Depardieu have good chemistry. MacDowell's character apartment is such a stunning location within the film. The Ending also play's with the heart strings. What I love any other director would have had their characters run into each others arms and embrace and end it with them together. But Weir leaves it up to the audience if they get together or not. I think one of the reason's I think it's got such a low score. Definitely deserves a lot more praise then it gets. Shame Depardieu never worked with Weir again. She had a good run in the 90's but since then it's been mostly TV and low budget films. I think she loves to act, but the fame thing definitely didn't sit to well with her. It was the year the Oscar's wanted to heap praise on women, seen as the whole Harvey Weinstein thing and MeToo moment was in full swing. So as Will Ferrell said in Zoolander "Hansel, he's so hot right now". Well the Oscars and Critic's decided "Ladybird, that's so hot right now" so they heaped all their praise and award's consideration on it. If that was directed by a man, I bet that wouldn't have got any award's consideration. In the end, rightly for me it won none. It didn't deserve any. Maybe Metcalf for supporting Actress was the closet thing to anything Oscar worthy for that film. I think Ronan has given better performances then she did in this. I said it when this film was released, that it be forgotten about in the years to follow. I stand by it.
