I agree — it’s entertaining but not a great film. For one thing, the ending was highly implausible. Rose was pretty insufferable early on. Pretty sure some men in Charlie’s shoes would have marooned her. She’s no less beautiful than Bogart is handsome. There are possible alternate explanations. For example, Rose may have believed she and Charlie would be together after death if married or she may have just wanted to consecrate their love, even if it was chaste. Rose suggests they go past the fort at night but Charlie tells her that the rapids are just downriver feom the fort and it would be too dangerous to shoot the rapids in the dark. She then suggests that they stick to the far side of the river when they pass. There were work arounds. Biden could have donated the money to a Super PAC or created one than would spend it on behalf of the nominee. In any case, Biden was thought to have had only $91 million on hand. Donors gave Harris that much in a few days after Biden endorsed her. They would have opened their wallets for anyone other than Biden who had the nomination. It even looked bad in the trailers — formulaic and unfunny. You are mistaken SamNoyoun, for I am not a Trump supporter. I am one of the “double-haters” you may have heard of. I’m just the the type of swing voter that will decide this election. I also hear it as “kills”. The scenes reminded me of a similar scene of school-age children singing a jump rope song in the movie “Marnie” starring Sean Connery and Tippi hedren. It began something like Mother, mother, I am ill. Send for the doctor over the hill. In came the doctor. In came the nurse, In came the lady with the alligator purse. I like Jackman as Wolverine but the trailers for this film left me cold, so I will wait for it to stream. Yes, I think it’s only a question of whether it will exceed varying degrees of high expectations.
Either way, this movie will critic proof...
These days, I think it’s more a question of whether people go to see it in the theater or wait for it to come out on streaming.
the last thor movie had a higher metacritic rating
Ouch. Whichever finished him off, that was his last hunt.
BTW Leslie Banks stole the show in this one IMO.
Not Robert Armstrong as Martin Trowbridge, Eve’s alcoholic brother? Heh. Yes, I do. Thanks. Sometimes it’s possible to revive a discussion thread even when the OP is long gone and, in this case, possibly deceased. You are correct. Queeg wasn’t looking for empathy when he supposedly “reached out” to his officers seeking help. He didn’t want them to dispute his accounts of incidents which reflected poorly on his command. He wanted to enlist their aid in cover-ups. Looks pretty boring, tbh. Unless it has stellar reviews, I’ll wait to stream it later on. Thanks for sharing. If you are still with us. I hope things are going better for you. My thoughts, as well.
