Not as far as I am aware but, if so, probably only in Japan - in which case your best bet to find it is probably ebay or Amazon Japan.
IMO, the sound quality of the subbed VHS version was, surprisingly, better than the U.S. DVD release. For example, the music swells awesomely the moment Kyoya gabs his sword from atop the rubble pile toward the end of the movie only in the VHS version. Something was lost in the transfer to dvd.
The hand-drawn animation was good and holds up well but the CGI portions, while innovative for the time, now look quite dated. Also the plot was derivative in the extreme. I doubt there would be much financial return from a dvd release. The best bet is that it will get picked up by one of the many anime streaming services that have sprung up since your original post.
This?

Yeah, it’s not like JJ was a pimp, burglar, hustler or drug dealer. Those were the truly negative stereotypes prevalent on tv and in the movies at the time. He was the comic relief that took the edge off of a lot storylines that were pretty heavy. He was also the break-out star of the show that helped it build an audience. Even though his famous catchphrase was overdone to the point of becoming a bit cringeworthy, I think the character JJ and Jimmie Walker, the actor who portrayed him, should be celebrated.
Yep - it’s sad. Although, I think her face has settled a bit and she’s looking a bit more natural.
Yeah, me too. I think she was at the height of her beauty during the first couple of seasons of L&G, then she lost too much weight which aged her and deprived her of her voluptuous figure. She was still pretty but, IMO, no longer drop-dead gorgeous.
No one, not even actors, are forced to get plastic surgery. They are incentivized to remain youthful but there’s still choice - and the example of actors whose surgery, far from making them look better, has been disfiguring.
Lois, for both looks and personality.
Thanks, I’ll check it out.
Terrible and distracting, I agree.
To each his own. 😏
Yes, she looked great in her ridiculously tight-fitting uniform.
That’s too bad. He probably gets asked that question a lot so it could have been a sore spot. But he should have expected to get such a question from fans at a con.
Wasn’t aware it was the same actress. Thanks for pointing that out. I thought she looked much more attractive as Marlena, partly because the outfit was more flattering. The feather scull cap is an unattractive look, IMO.
The first clear tip off to me that Ned’s sense of reality was off was when he made a comment about his daughter’s weddings in the future tense to his first hosts and they shot a concerned look to one another. I interpreted this to be a sign that his daughters had already wed or died, were estranged from him, or his material circumstances had been much diminished.
Taken together with his unaccountable appearance, his strange fascination with the weather and pool water and the strange plan he formulated for his day, I began to think he was tetched in the head.
It’s an interesting thought. I did think it strange that he spent so much time admiring the qualities of the weather and pool water. And many of the people he encounters seem to regard him as if he is behaving a little off. Those would seem to fit your hypothesis. But he wasn’t “tripping balls“ as the kids say nowadays.
I agree. I think it’s meant to be ambiguous/open to varying interpretations.
Well, Josh and Christian were not her only options. Early in the movie she brushes off a male with her dismissive “as if” comment. I’m sure she had lots of other options.
Sure, Josh was a nice and attractive guy who was also attracted to her but it’s still an unusual and taboo romantic pairing. Perhaps that’s why relations between step siblings has become a popular porn genre.
I had the same feeling during the film’s opening showing the shots of various wild animals; it seemed dated and tv-quality.
