We're certainly in an odd period of film when a $170 million opening can be seen as disappointing.
Hollyweird seems to think using Brits adds class to their blockbusters. Understandable when you see the current crop of American "stars" really.

Tencent Pictures is co-financing, so it was probably one of their stipulations to leave out old enemies. It's the way of the future really, with budgets bigger than third world economies it makes sense to share the costs with whoever possible.
Production design, VFX and Alice Eve's body are well-made. The storyline, script and dialogue, narrative cohesiveness, editing, performances, directing, everything else about the movie etc, not so much.
It would be a question worth asking if this movie had empowered women. This film is about entitled girls.
Never ever in the history of the world has a girl in her 20s been attracted to a man twice her age. Never ever ever, not once, nuh uh.

It's an adaptation of the song. But given the director is Michael Bay, it will be completely inaccurate as usual.
They give importance because the audience demands it now, incel feelings aside, soyboy CB films make bank.
