More and more Britich actors?

Christ. Seeing more and more British actors playing American franchise leads now if not learning to speak American to play American roles. They can't find any American to do them?

reply

Hint. The Brits are cheaper.

reply

No-name young actors with talent are a dime a dozen on both sides of the Atlantic, and both have little to no negotiating leverage. British actors are generally formally trained. British actors with a name are not cheaper. Pay is based on a variety of factors like an actor's age, image, range, Q Score, etc. Ultimately it's based on their appropriateness for the role and their ability to draw an audience based on their track record.

Alec Guinness, Ian McDiarmid, David Prowse, Anthony Daniels, David Mayhew, Kenny Baker...all British actors that helped to establish Star Wars.

reply

Peter Mayhew (I think you wanted to say) was spotted when cleaning toilets, as I remember.

reply

Yeah, that's his name. He was working as a hospital orderly (medical assistant) at the time, but as an actor he attended a casting call for Star Wars and first met Lucas there.

reply

Yes, that's it.

reply

The original was filmed mainly in the UK. Hence the majority of Actors brought in were British apart from the leads.

reply

Hollyweird seems to think using Brits adds class to their blockbusters. Understandable when you see the current crop of American "stars" really.

reply

i dont know why they made finn speak american

reply

I agree with upstairs that using British actors is to add class. They did not mean to do that to a black guy.
