How much did China pay to have Taiwan's flag removed from Maverick's jacket? Or is Hollywood just pandering to China?

Maverick's jacket in the original Top Gun has a patch on the back featuring the USA, UN, Japan, and Taiwan (Republic of China) flags which commemorates a training mission from the 60's.

The Taiwan flag is clearly missing from the jacket in the trailer for the new film. I highly doubt there is a story-based reason for this. Paramount Pictures has presumably ordered the removal of this patch and replaced it with something that looks similar enough so that most people in the audience won't notice. The real question is did China pay a big sum for this to happen, or is Hollywood just pandering to big Communism again?

It is the same jacket. They just changed the patch to make it politically correct in China.

Tencent Pictures is co-financing, so it was probably one of their stipulations to leave out old enemies. It's the way of the future really, with budgets bigger than third world economies it makes sense to share the costs with whoever possible.

Lalaland is stupid enough to believe that so-called Superstars like Cruise are box office magnets. But how did Top Gun become such a huge hit when Cruise wasn't that popular back then? If Lalaland stopped paying Cruise and the other so called superstars outrageously high salaries, then they wouldn't be so dependent on foreign investors.
I hope TG2 tanks. I'm not gonna watch a movie funding China and their censorship ( and Scientology).

I stopped paying for movies when Hollywood decided that as a black conservative, I was racist (my favorite), misogynistic, homophobic, and xenophobic.

I'm sure a paragon of righteousness that Hollywood is would be disgusted taking my racist, misogynist, homophobic, xenophobic money, so I solved that problem for them. I'm sure they're grateful.

My VPN and Android streaming device delivers 2K and 4K movies to my home theater, which features better picture and sound, higher quality snacks, and spotless restrooms. I can also run the film back if one of us misses a word.

But, if I did still go to movies, I would not go to see a Chinese funded film that involves censorship.
