Same. Id be keen to get some tennis discussion going like old times, I don´t think this board will be what imdb was though... Im curious to know why you think it should be the goal to create more black leading men? I really don´t get why this movie gets slammed, I think its one of Spielberg´s best. It´s obviously not without its flaws. As you mentioned, Justin Chatwin is incredibly annoying and unlikable. The Tim Robbins subplot does seem out of place but that basement scene is just filled with tension, and makes up for it imo. I also agree with you and think the 1st act of the film, is absolutely enthralling from the lightning storm to the aliens coming out of the ground and zapping everyone. Its fair to say that there´s not much substance to the movie, its just a survival film with no real message but it is great at delivering what its supposed to. Im from Australia, I only remember it running in the early 90s. Same with Family Matters. Im surprised they both ran until 1998. I don´t doubt there are that type, but its more the exception than the rule. I´ll take the word of a guy that´s actually been in prison over a hollywood movie though. The whole gang raping in prison is also largely a myth. Its actually seen as an embarrassment if a prison gang member is involved in homosexual activity. I call BS on piracy. Piracy is a tiny fraction of the entire market and most piracy happens for films that aren´t readily available, ie they aren´t making money anyway, or the big blockbusters that make billions anyway. Netflix is filling the gap for the mid budget movie and Netflix is further proof that people are willing to entertain themselves legally and proving the piracy narrative is an exaggeration... Thats kind of a myth about it being about dominance. There´s a guy who has a YT channel called Prison Talk. He basically debunks the whole power thing. In his words, "if you´re fucking/raping another dude in prison, you´re gay". For me 3-9 is golden era. I can´t watch a full season after 10. Point Break Ghost Roadhouse Chicago PD already denied that any MAGA comments were made. Might want to hold back on the anti-trump rhetoric for now.... Die Hard What do you mean by sweeping the past under the rug? This is not about white people getting shafted, this is about everyone being treated equally. Skin colour should be irrelevant. Real racists are the ones that make it relevant. So yeah, Will Smith´s wife, total racist... They are trying to resurrect their crumbling tv ratings. Perhaps if they focused less on politics and more on the awards, people would continue to watch them... If you want true equality, the same rules should apply for all. The problem is that its become acceptable in today´s society to be racist towards whites because, whites are the majority race in the USA and some black people even think its not possible to be racist towards whites since whites have "institutional power" which I find hilarious... Really? Frenzy is considered one of his best? I thought it was one of his worst. I´m throwing my hat in for The Lady Vanishes. I know its highly regarded in the UK but in the USA its barely known in the mainstream. Curious about this myself. I always thought it was a few weeks between the bus/train crash and the end. A criminal chooses to be a criminal by way of his actions. His background is irrelevant. Yes, your likelihood of being a criminal increases if you are born into poor socioeconomic areas but it doesn´t mean you are doomed to commit crime, otherwise we would see 100% causality. There are plenty of poor, less educated people out there, and the majority of them don´t commit crimes, so why are the ones that do immune from responsibility, according to you? Likewise, there are rich, educated people that commit crimes. Are the rich, privileged criminals, more culpable because they didn´t have a "hard life"? Im sorry, yes I disagree with it because poverty is not an excuse to commit crimes, nor does it give you a pass on culpability... A criminal is not just predisposed to commit a crime because of his background. Im curious to know why you think a criminal is not to blame for their own actions? I totes forgot about Rounders. Have to edit my list now. ty Yeah "cursed films" are so stupid. I remember someone saying Home Alone was cursed because a few people from it are dead. A 30 year old movie... lol Interesting thing about that missing actor, Joe Pichler. Its weird he hasn´t been declared legally dead after being missing for 13 years...
