Why was the tag 'Oscars too white' not considered racist

Can someone tell me, why that tag wasnt considered racist, when if a tag that said NBA,NFL too black (not my opnion - just hypothetical), would have sent the internet into meltdown, and have whoever came up with those tags forever exiled?

Now to those people that have no issue with that tag when it came out before the Oscars a few years ago, let me say this - many non Caucasians throughout the Oscars have won big, not just been nominated (as was the case with Will Smith for Ali, but won the award. Let me read off a couple of names: Denzel Washington - won twice arguably making him one of the great actors of all time, Forrest Whitaker, Haley Berry, Cuba Gooding Jnr, the director of 12 years a slave (i apologize for not knowing his name), Jamie Foxx and many others. If the Oscars and the people that vote were so racist, why would these people have won? To win an Oscar, one needs a vast majority votes to give them the win over the next person/movie.

Speaking of which, although the subject material was terrible, 12 Years a Slave was a huge sucess at the box office, a movie made by an african american, starring african americans. This year Black Klansmen and Black Panther, im assuming will be nominated for best picture.

So im struggling to see how the Oscars were/are 'Too white" as that twitter tag claimed. Like i said, imagine if someone claimed the NFL was 'Too black' you would never hear from them again.

Also id just point out that for whatever reason, people seem to place more ownis on the 'Big 4 categories, when in reality, hundreds, if not thousands of people work on movies, especially the big ones, and these people are of every race under the sun.

Final point, at the end of the day its the people that buy the movie tickets that will decide which actors, actresses and directors stay in the game and keep being in, making movies, regardless of their race. Case in point (generalization), if Denzel Washington, stopped taking in big takings for his movies, the movie companies, may not hire his services as much. Is that racist, or just purely business?

Going back to the title, why was that tag not considered racist and put in its place. Can you imagine if it had been 'Oscars too Jewish'? Yet Too white was okay?

To anyone that posts replies, please be respectful and state your case in a civil manner without putting anyone down, especially anyone on here.

One thing my daddy told me is to NEVER back down and never apologize unless you're wrong. If I was, I was to stand up like a man and take what I got coming to me. But if I was right, I should fight for what's right. Sharks smell blood in the water when you back off when you're right. It only sends them into a feeding frenzy.

White folks today tuck their tails between their legs whenever someone incorrectly yells "racist!" instead of holding the accusers to the standard of truth.

You assumed that the poster was white. That shows your bias right there. And what did white people bring on themselves? Cheryl Boone Isaacs, the public relations executive of the Academy Awards, is black. She said she wanted more diversity in the acting nominations after Oscars so white happened. The very next year a record number of black people were nominated. The problem? There wasn't a single Asian, Hispanic, Native or other race that was nominated. Also, no one with disabilities or from the gay community. A black, straight able-bodied executive wanted more diversity, and she was too blind to see other races, so spare me the "you white folks brought this shit on yourselves".

Do you think a bunch of white people are winning Japanese movie awards? Mexico just released their first film with a black lead in 25 years, but somehow it's "you white folks." Notice how everyone is silent on the lack of black nominees at the Razzie awards? They're far less diverse than the Oscars but no one brings it up because it's a negative award to win.

I don't even think it's her fault. Everyone has this bias. It's why white people will mostly hang out with white people. Black people will mostly hang out with black people. Asians will mostly hang out with Asians. People want to be surrounded by what is familiar to them.

You can see it in any school cafeteria table anytime anywhere. People self-segregate. Everyone knows this except white people, who are the least racially aware. White racial consciousness will grow as the country declines.

Sure, but it's like that everywhere where there is a majority race. There are over 180 million people in Nigeria, the small amount of white people there wouldn't be treated as well as the black people there just because whites would be the minority. Minorities, whether it's race, religion, sexuality, will always be treated as minorities.

By all means, don't back down where you ARE wrong also. Blacks are not owed privileges because they feel entitled-- yet we keep pandering. Movie roles are not dictated by Affirmative Action. And blacks being the percentage of the population they are--regardless of urban vs.non-urban ticket-buyers-- should not be elevated in receiving more than what that percentage allows.

Blacks who cite prejudice with the film industry are not pushing for equal-opportunity, but finagling a free pass by relying on the subtext of "racism" in general. How convenient for you. And sorry, but in general (with exceptions) whites do prefer to watch other whites on the screen, and we all know blacks like the same (in the same way races prefer to hang out together) TV's The Jeffersons was different, unlike films. So, that means whites are not represented enough and there is a lack of "diversity" in black countries also--BUT that's ignored. Maybe your "daddy" had a saying about being truthful also.

I don’t watch the Oscars, I have no idea, nor do I care, if they’re too white. As a white person I’m not offended by hearing the phrase “too white”. Is it racist? I guess, but white people seem to worry about this too much.
In my opinion, white people need to relax. I mean is this really even an issue? Only because people make it one. Is saying something is “too black”, or “too Jewish” offensive? I don’t know, but as a white person, who am I to say?
I just don’t understand the issue, seems dumb. Would it be more pc to say “the oscars aren’t diverse enough”? Sure, but again, who cares. Are white people seriously offended by this statement? Doubt it. The only argument is “if they said that about (enter race), it would be considered racist.” Waaah. Who cares.
There are more important things to focus on than whites in America being discriminated against. I mean seriously, what a joke.

NBA and NFL are jobs that have bona fide qualifications. Oscars are an award selection done by secret vote. COMPLETELY different things. As for the statement itself, I have no opinion.

Wealthy Hollywood liberals aren't doing enough to push black actors on us? How do you tie your shoes in the morning?

Here's the thing. Where are the Oscars for black/female/whatever cinematographers? Cinematography is far less prestigious, less visible, and less well paid than acting. Yet blacks/women/whatever are far more likely to win for acting. Cinematography is also far more technical. We see this everywhere. Look at Nobel Prizes. Blacks/women/whatever win the subjective awards, like literature. They don't win the more objective awards, like physics. You see, when we as a society have discretion, we use it in favor of blacks/women/whatever. Not against them.

You need those elitist dickbags, because they're on your side. Maybe it's time to rethink where you stand?

If you want true equality, the same rules should apply for all. The problem is that its become acceptable in today´s society to be racist towards whites because, whites are the majority race in the USA and some black people even think its not possible to be racist towards whites since whites have "institutional power" which I find hilarious...
