Ugh....ridiculous.
We had to move over 200 miles just to get a bigger garden!
Ha ha Thanks!
I’ve been waiting to be called....finally got a letter!
I haven’t had any vaccinations yet.
I wear a mask when I go out to public places (food shopping).
Don't go out anywhere else other than garden nurseries when shopping. Wear a mask there.
I tend to pull the mask down in the car parks when there’s no one around and also try not to wear it when walking about in streets (and that’s rare anyway!)
If I happen to meet people at their homes or they come to mine we only meet outside for usually 30 minutes or less just to drop things off or collect things (like shopping). We used to wear masks but don’t any more, we just try to stand apart more. Most if not all of them are fully vaccinated as older people.
People we don’t know who come collect things sometimes wear a mask. I just try keep away from them.
I haven’t touched or been touched by a friend or stranger for over a year.
We are having a friend come stay with us for the first time in over a year soon! They are fully vaccinated. I’m going to hug them...in my house! We won’t be wearing masks.
Or any of the physical sciences
Haha oh yes, so many fun laws here and that one is very close to home for me.
I lived in York and moved to Scotland 🤣
I don’t think it is that the Scot has a crossbow and therefore you’re allowed to kill them; it’s that you can shoot the Scot with a longbow.....and specifically this can only be done within the city walls and not on a Sunday!
I can’t find out whether this particular law has been repealed yet in one of the Queen’s speeches, so potentially it is still there....but obviously illegal today due to human rights and murder legislation!
This excerpt from a newspaper article is of interest; I wouldn’t have ever been bothered to contact York Council about it for an update because they are quite crap!
As for killing a Scot in York, a Mr Henry Shrimp submitted this Freedom of Information request to York City Council in 2012:
"In York, excluding Sundays, it is perfectly legal to shoot a Scotsman with a bow and arrow. As such, please tell me the number of Scots who have been shot in the last ten years by those taking advantage of this law."
In response, the council replied:
After an extensive search of our records I can confirm that there are no records of any Scotsmen being legally shot with a bow and arrow in the last ten years. There is however a vague recollection of an alleged occurrence several centuries ago which involved a group of men from the Nottingham area, dressed in green, who were enjoying a stag night in York.
Regardless of any ancient legislation, the Law Commission said: "It is illegal to shoot a Welsh or Scottish (or any other) person regardless of the day, location or choice of weaponry."
Completely agree with the dog scenario - and any other animal a person gets. I abhor any mistreatment of animals, it’s disgusting.
Oh no, that must be tricky with regards to the assumed official and responsible parent ship of a non biological child like that. Conversely it will affect the other way too: non biological parent gets no access to the child if the relationship with their biological parent ends. A sad situation.
Very interesting, lots of good points there, very true. Thank you for discussing with me in an intelligent way - it’s so rare on here!
You didn’t answer my last question though?
Ok!
No, I don’t think Gammons and Red Necks are the same, from what I already know of each group/type of person, from reading this piece above and from how both are portrayed here in the U.K. (Gammons) and in US films (Red Necks).......and Gammons are very unlikely from getting red/burnt from being outside a lot, or working in the sun.....for one because we don’t have that sort of climate and two, such would probably not have the same outdoor jobs that Red Necks would.
Also, the florid complexion of a Gammon I believe is due to a combination of age, diet and drinking too much (in the traditional, male-typical pub-going way).....they are usually very pro-U.K./England, pro-Brexit, far-righters.....and it’s commonly due to the red faces they get when enraged and expressing their strong views!
We have so many different groups here in which to pigeon hole people, generally related to class (within which are groups also), place of origin, how they speak, how they dress as well as their background in terms of culture due to all the different countries residents here may be from. Some take and use these names with pride, some are insults and some just easy and colloquial ways of identifying people both as individuals and groups.
And I’ve never thought of gammon as a processed meat because you have to cook it the same as you would raw meat; it’s only cured a bit.

I would think an individual right in the context of that particular reply would pertain to the right of a daughter (born/biologically female) to use a bathroom that only born biological females have access to.
I believe that an argument against shared facilities is that there will be an increase in sexual assault and rape.....because transgender women are sexual deviants obviously and a man would only ‘dress up’ like a woman or claim to be a female that day just to access the facility to abuse someone.
A rapist can walk into a female space, or even a public space now, any time to attack someone - no trans involvement. Anyone can attack anyone anywhere - again, without any trans involvement. Rapists don’t even have to be biologically born male (as in women can sexually assault people too).....men can assault men....and a man could assault a trans-man.
People are told what to think and how to act and behave all the time....laws, rules, society, the Government etc etc. and all of these evolve and change... and sometimes, if not all the time, at least someone or some portion of society will not be pleased. Even the sciences and ethics etc. evolve.
With reference to terms and specifically ‘gender’ versus ‘sex’, I’ll continue to provide others with information (not lecturing) on their official authorised difference/meanings (whether you accept it or not is your choice).
‘In 1964, Robert Stoller coined the term gender identity, which refers to an individual’s personal concept about their gender and how they feel inside. It is a deeply held internal sense of self and is typically self-identified. Gender identity differs from sexual identity and is not related to an individual’s sexual orientation’.
ONS U.K. government.
There were a lot of scientific advancements in that decade - is 1964 in your view part of the ‘relative recent push to redefine the word’?
How is this concept much different to other segregation/anti-segregation and the like ‘movements’ throughout history? At its core, surely they are all about trying to do what’s right for the majority by including the minority.
I’m sorry you and your daughters feel threatened by shared bathrooms. It’s obviously quite a new concept in your state and obviously initiates neophobia in some. I’m interested to know why people think this is going to create anarchy. What happens in states where co-Ed bathrooms are common-place?
I understand that not everyone will share the same views and that these views and reactions are very complex and personal, based on many things including upbringing, sense of self, life experience etc. I find when I share my view of tolerance I get anger, hate, literal insults and name called. I hardly get any serious discussion but receive defensiveness (natural reaction no doubt) and viciousness (immature).
Oh I forgot about him.....yes 😬
Very true!
I’m sure most people who aren’t LBGTQ+ or know any LBGTQ+ people don’t either!
Although as I’ve heard/read it’s downfall from popularity was because it got into the mainstream of society and so was no longer useful for the minority.
It’s fascinating anyway, the origins of language and slang and this is no different; also the way that Polari words and phrases are such a mainstay of the English language at large.
For example the term ‘dishy’ which in Polari could mean bottom - so gay men could say in public that another man had a nice bottom.....but it is very commonly used by, say a heterosexual woman, with reference to a good looking man (his face)!
Do you have these ideas or concerns about anyone else in the public eye?
I thought anyone could use the term ‘gaydar’ and never thought or knew it originated within the gay community.
I’ve just recently found out about Polari, which is very interesting 🙂
Are they supposed to be...? 😅😉
Agree, plus Oldman’s too as has been mentioned.
A good point.
